Actually, we give scripture, and TC Greek, John of Japan, DHK, and a couple of others come back with scripture (the way it should be), but you call people unsaved, call them names, denigrate them, and say, "no it isn't!", as does npetreley (along with much vituperation), along with the cheerleader section of a few others who have nothing to add beyond "you're right" (with no restrictions on breaking the rules).

Well, I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that I am being led and taught by the Holy Spirit.

    I've never said there were.

In fact, I've said quite the opposite.

If I've ever said there are, then show it!

But that is just the problem. Opinion isn't truth. It is simply opinion. I spent most of one thread with you demonstrating that eternal means forever and ever without end. And you would only give "opinion" declaring that your opinion is right even though all other sources: both in translations and in lexicons prove otherwise.
You say that eternal simply means a finite age. That of course is ridiculous for God himself is described with that same Greek word, aionios, as being eternal. Even in spite of that you stubbornly hold to your "opinion" that eternal must mean "age"--a finite period of time.

Well time will tell because I would say the same thing. And since we don't agree on much He's not teaching us both. Maybe he's not teaching either one of us, but He's certainly not teaching us both!

DHK, do you believe that the "lost" need to be persuaded of the terror of the Lord at the JSOC as SFIC does? (not the GWT, mind you, but the JSOC)

2Co 5:9 Wherefore we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2Co 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

You're right and that's why I said that we aren't both being led by the Spirit, because the Spirit doesn't teach opinion He teaches Truth.

I'm glad you brought up the eternal discussion. You say you aren't espousing opinion, but yet all you bring up is what Strong's has to say or what someother "human" has written in a book. That's opinion. Just because someone writes something down that you agree with does not make it fact.

There are a number of scholars that disagree with the definition that you have put forth.

If you want to demonstrate fact then you need to find one use of the word aion to mean without beginning and without end. You have failed to do that and so has everyone else that has talked about eternal.

On the other hand HoG has given "book" sources that say the word "eternal" simply meant a long period of time during the time the KJV was translated. So how can you say "your" book is wrong and all other sources are opinion.

You are simply espousing opinion along with everyone else. Find the word aion used to mean without beginning and without end and we'll talk. You better hurry though as I think my time here is short .

    Brian,

Quit lying about me. I do not believe the lost need to be persuaded of the terror of the Lord at the JSoC. There will be no terror at the JSoC.

They need to be persuaded of the terror of the Lord while we are here on earth. For one day, if they reject Him, they will see His terror at the Great White Throne of Judgment.

    1. I have several of Dr. Stanley's books. I have never read his Eternal Security, but have read some reviews and decided not to get it.

    2. If the above quote is in Dr. Stanley's book, I find it quite disturbing and it has no scriptural support. Nowhere does the Bible teach that a believer will spend time in outer darkness being punished until he has shown enough remorse before he rejoins the privileged. How disturbing this is.

Thank you BB administrators for making this board a good place again.

Love to all my BB friends that stood strong and fought against this terrible ME heresy!

I will not speak for others.
Furthermore, let us not take Scripture out of context.
Nowhere is there any mention of the lost appearing at the JSOC.
Paul says "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persaude men.
Why does he say that? "we are made manifest unto God." (i.e., our works are made manifest or declared openly).
We are accountable for the things that we do in this life. There will be accountability, not for sin--it has already been taken care of. It is already under the blood. But at the JSOC we will be held accountable for the works that we have or have not done for the Lord.
Paul knew that. That put a certain fear "awesome respect" for the Lord. The "terror" does not mean that he squirms in fear thinking he is going to be squashed any second like a fly on a wall.

The unsaved will stand at the GWT

Isn't the purgatory the ME heresy that was just banned? I may be wrong.

Yes. Some ME folks deny that it's purgatory but it's easily demonstrated that it's basically the same thing.

    I am wondering...

Can the threads that have anything about ME be deleted so others who may read the pages on the forum do not read the false doctrines and be led astray by them?

    Just a thought...

basanisqhsontai hmeras kai nuktos eis tous aiwnas twn aiwnwn
    "tormented forever and ever (Rev.20:10)

aiwnwn--this is the same word, just a different form of it, as aionios--eternal or everlasting. used in this fashion it means "forever and ever" It describes the eternal punishment of the wicked. Or do you agree with the SDA's (Bob Ryan) in annihilation of the wicked, because eternal doesn't mean eternal anyway?

"It's funny. You can teach that a Christian can lose his salvation and fry in the LOF for eternity and be welcome.

You can teach OSAS in a way that allows for no accountability and be welcome.

You can teach some damnable Lordship-salvation nonsense that says if you sin really bad, you were "never really saved" and be welcome.

None of those theories is more historically Baptist that ME. Noted Baptists have taught it for nearly 200 years.

Ban me now if you must, for woe is me if I preach not the gospel!
    "

I was talking to Lacy on the phone when the moderators decided to ban him.
He wished me to pass on his e-mail for all those interested.
