lol...there is still a good bit of smocking going on in the area, just less and less in public and it isn't as problematic in the churches as it once was. seems the ringleader was approached by some rather odd individual as she was smocking at church and one of the perpetrators is on house arrest :tonofbricks:

ETA....double or more post by me are allowed right??? seeing as i am making up for lost time????

    Good morning all,

    Welcome back, Tanya!

It is 40º here this morning but at least the wind has died down. I thought we might blow away the past couple of days.

I am going to try and paint some more in the dining room today. I wouldn't be in such a hurry, but I can hardly get around in this house!

The dining room table and chairs are in Brent's bedroom. The china hutch and scaffolding is in the kitchen. Two recliners and a large entertainment center are in the middle of the living room, and all the DVD's and VHS are on the sun porch. We had to move everything out of the dining room for the carpet to be laid. Since I didn't get the painting finished before that happened, I will have to be extra careful.

However, this feels like it's going to be a lazy day.

With the chill in the air, snuggling under a warm afghan, on the couch, with a good book sounds really wonderful! My two kittens would keep me company, I'm sure. :BangHead:

    HAGD!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 50 degrees and partly sunny here today, headed for a possible high of 55.

Tanya: Good to see you back....I mean that you're posting again. *whew* Haven't been in so much trouble since I once said that I "beat Sue up" one morning. I MEANT to say that I'd arrived and posted in the CGCH before Sue. Thanks for breakfast too.

Helen: Contact Andrew and get your money back. The ad at the top of my screen says...How much money does Bill Gates make in a day?, and then there is a poll. Shouldn't it say "how much money does Helen ------ make in a day?, and then there be a poll? Terrible, they can't even get a simple ad right. How's Barry this morning? Poor guy almost choked twice in 2 days. It's so sad, when you tell a joke with your "tongue in your cheek" you're not supposed to choke on it.

Gayla: Counting the days are we? You're a better person than I am. I'd be counting the hours, minutes, and seconds too.

Sue: Please be careful in the recliner. I can just see it: You being mauled by two startled kittens, being taken to ER, unable to paint for months, and then the plastic surgery. * NOTICE BY BB ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL - The beloved Moderator of the CGCH was found mauled yesterday in her home. We pray for her quick and complete recovery, also a home for her two kittens. Menageriekeeper is cooking for Sue while she recovers, but is quickly overwhelmed [she's been cooking for 24 hrs. now], donations of food are being accepted, as well as volunteers to paint.

We're going to go to some open houses this weekend. Maybe we'll stop and see my Cuz and Tanya while we're in the area. LOL!!

I'm making Pizza Biscuit Bears to give out to the kids this halloween. Since it's usually cool in the evenings it'll give the kids something to warm up with. I also have coffee [for the parents], and cocoa[ for the kids]. Last year we had over 400 kids between 5pm - 8:30pm. We live in the sticks too, but people from town drive their kids out, drop them off, then pick them up.

Once I played a joke on a woman who really didn't enjoy cooking {No, it wasn't Cindi], and who was making her first Thanksgiving dinner. I bought a small frozen Cornish Game Hen and put it inside the turkey, after my friend had put the stuffing inside the bird . When the bird was cooked I was helping with the carving and I pulled out the now cooked game hen and said " Judy!!, My God girl didn't you check this turkey before you cooked it? The bird was pregnant and you just cooked it's unborn chick!" Judy's face went white, and I thought she was going to faint, then she dissolved in tears and ran from the room. It took me quite awhile to convince her that I'd planted the "unborn chick". She was finally able to laugh about it, but now if I help her in the kitchen she watches me like a hawk. Silly Girl, there isn't anything I can do with a hawk.

Time to get moving. I like to do that every few minutes just to upset the family while they're looking at my life insurance. It messes with their heads. They don't know that I'm leaving all my money to the Jahovah's Witnesses if they promise to stop ringing doorbells. NOT!!!!!

    Good morning all,

Sue, use some old blankets on top of your new carpet in case of paint spatters. Then you can throw them in the wash and use them the next time you need to cover up something. We have about three stored in the garage for sick animals, painting, etc. They're from when the kids were little, so they are quite old, as blankets go!

River fog again, but I love it. It makes us feel closed in and sort of 'hibernatey'. Then the sun comes out for a gorgeous autumn afternoon.

Didn't get everything I wanted done yesterday, but that's OK. Instead I re-wrote some of the intro to the video they are starting of Barry's work (first one done now and second one started in this series of 3). These will be science and not as 'fun' as Christmas Star, but we are getting Barry's work down in a format that is people-friendly instead of some giant text, so that is more than worth the work.

Also did kitchen stuff later in the afternoon -- made butter, bread, yogurt, and Barry's chocolate sauce. Got some stuff done for my deaf friends but no yard work done. That's today, along with cleaning up for Bible study here tonight.

That Bible study does a great job of making me really clean up the house once a week, as I would much rather be doing any number of other things!

    God bless you all.

Edit: your post just went up before this one did, FoG -- Barry's fine. He loves laughing and he just needs to learn that breathing food is not a good thing! He's working on it....

The ad is already generating some sales, so that's good. If it generates an average of one a day, we are fine with the money spent on it. The idea is not to get rich, but to build up the body of Christ, letting them know that history and science both show the Bible is telling the truth.

That had to have been a city girl, Cuz. I would've just said, "oh good! more protein!" and laughed at you.

Farmgirls like myself know that turkeys don't birth live young.

    Good Morning Everyone!

I've already been sewing this morning and didn't realize I hadn't checked in here until I had already hit the submit button and gone to call in some prescriptions.

Not much going on here today. Cass is down with another migraine. She hasn't gotten up yet so I guess I should e-mail her teachers and let them know. Hopefully she'll wake up feeling better. We've had one front after another through here this week so I've been expecting one of them to get a bad. Chris is doing fine however and is working on school.

I'm sewing and finally making some progress. Didn't get much done yesterday. Chris had quite a bit of math that we wanted to get through, so we did that for most of my working time. The rest of the pm was spent entertaining Dale (Chris and Jenna do quite a good job of seeing to it that Cass and Dale get very little peace. :D ), getting Chris to his photography class (last one for a while) and dealing with Jenna's attitude which has recently grown larger than her britches. It is currently in the process of shrinking rapidly.

I'll sew here for a while and then head over to the church. One of the ladies is trying to put together an outfit for her grandson.

    Ya'll have a good day!

Good afternoon all! It's a slow day here too - we're homeschooling and very slow with that, I'm doing SOME chores but not really motivated and I have dinner pulled out and ready to just be put together around 4.

MK - A friend of mine is writing a book on headaches and migraines - it should be out in August I think (I know it's far away, but it should be worth it). She's having a book on back and neck pain come out in January then the next book will be in the final works. Actually MY migraines will be listed in the book - and I think I'm ready to give her a call for more help. I woke up this morning STILL achy from a migraine so that makes it a 7 day one with me taking imitrex 3 times. :( But I THINK it's gone right now - but that doesn't mean it's the end of it. We'll have to see. Gotta say, though - migraines STINK!! Bleck!!

I'm off to clean bathrooms! Wish me luck!! LOL

Good evening all! Ed and I decided to take one day off a week...now you know that we are retired so why do we need to take a day off...From all those things that seem to fill up our time and make us wonder how we had time to work.

I certainly appreciate Mk's advice about cooking. When the gkids came to live with us 18 months ago, I was trying to have a sit down dinner each evening. At least every other night we had some kind of disaster and I was very discouraged. MK said prepare the food, if they eat fine, if they don't fine and if they want a stand up meal instead of sit down let them.

Now I'm sure that really wasn't what she said, but it certainly made my life easier. I try to have at least one meal together each week now and works wonders. Ed and I get to even eat alone at times.

Everytime I think I will have time to stop in for coffee and chat, someone calls "Nana, come see what I am doing" It is fun to be encouraging to a 10 year old, but she sure has more energy than I do.

We also have a new addition to our family, a female bulldog. She is so entertaining and twice as big as Muffin now, but Muffin is still boss.

I hope to drop in more often to see what is going on with everyone.

    Betty

    Hey Betty! Glad you're back!

Now be careful telling my Cuz that I gave advice on cooking. I don't want him to get any ideas. That advice was on child raising. :D

Cuz, I most certainly am a farm girl. When we moved to AL when I was ten my poor dad thought he'd be able to farm for a living like his grandad had. So he bought 20 acres and as many cows. I even had a pony and a nanny goat. Lasted three poor as churchmice years, cause my mom wasn't cut out to be a farmer's wife, before he gave it up, moved to town and became a fireman (he was much more successful at this endeavor!). You don't want to know what happened to the cows.

    Evening all,
It sure has been busy in the coffee house-kind of like my work! Oh well, I'll just grab a Mt. Dew and leave the stuff for hot dogs and hit the road. Y'all have a good day and I'll try to stop in tommorrow night.

    Good Morning All,

I can't believe I am the first one here this morning. I have to get up early to get these kids off to school so I'll just leave some leftovers from our breakfast for you. Hazelnut Coffee, Chocolate Milk, Orange Juice, Cereal,
Reese Puffs and hot oatmeal, Toast. Sorry no left over dog food for the pets. Our morning routine around here, feed the dogs first:laugh:

Brrrrr. it is cold here this morning. I'm sure you guys up north would say that it is warm, but it is nearly freezing here.

Hope everyone has a great day and May the Lord Bless You!

Hi, Betty! It sure is good to see you posting again! You have been missed!!! Thanks for bringing in breakfast.

    Good morning all,

It is a 'crisp' 37º this morning. That's just 5º above freezing!!! Noooooooooo! I am not ready for this yet!

Brent has had his breakfast and is off to school with a pile of books, his duffel bag for basketball practice after school, and his lunch packed.

I didn't get much done yesterday. Just the laundry, a good supper fixed, the dishes done, and 5 large boxes packed and wrapped...ready to send to eBay customers today.

I stayed up waaaaaaay too late. I got to bed around 2:00 and got back up at 6:30. I believe a nap will be in order later in the day.

    HAGD!

It's dark, rainy and 55 degrees here so a bit chillier than it has been for the last few weeks! IF the rain stops long enough, I'm going riding later but if not - I may just go down and do stalls and such (if his owner hasn't done them already). Not much else going on here. Homeschool, chores and such are on the docket for today - pretty boring, I know. Not sure what dinner will be yet since I don't even know if I'll be home for dinner! LOL!

Oh - My oldest did another portfolio review on Tuesday and it was even better than the last week - AND this was with the top schools in the northeast! It's so cool to see your daughter who has struggled to do well at anything ACE a portfolio review and hear the scholarship word over and over. I'm so proud of her!!

    Good Morning Everybody,

I'll trade you Ann. It was 37 here when I got up, and our forcasted high is only 50.Great to hear about your Daughter's portfolio reviews.

So my Cuz is a transplanted Michigander, living in the deep South, who is a former farmgirl. I won't ask about the cows, I'm sure it's a MOOving story though.

Not much going on around here today. Have to finish cleaning up the RV for winter storage.

I brought in Loaded-Baked Potato Soup, Hard Rolls, BBQ Beef Sandwiches, and Banana Pudding Squares for dessert. Enjoy.

    Good morning!

All is well on the western front. Cloudy and breezy, but sun after today. And this rather stiff breeze is blowing dead leaves off the drives and paths, so that's fine by me!

Riko, the new pup, is settling in quite well. He noses one of us at night if he needs to go outside to relieve himself. That was one easy housebreaking!

Good Bible study last night. I sure do love that group! Chris went to bed easily....

There will be an emergency soon, I'm sure, but right now all is calm, if not bright.

Good to see you back again, Thankful. Sue, get that nap. Ann, a big congratulations to your daughter! That is quite an accomplishment and ummmm, why do you sound like a proud parent??? Palagislandgirl, don't you know you ought to eat better than that? Nothing is worth your health! Yes, I'm an accomplished nag -- raised six kids!

Barry sees the dr. again today about the sleep apnea. Then tonight travels to Ashland (Oregon) for an astronomy presentation he is interested in. I'll introduce myself to him again tomorrow.... Tomorrow night is a "star party" out at the observatory -- a night when it is open to the public and Barry is there to talk and show them things. Saturday and Sunday we watch Gina's girls as she works parttime during the weekends while going to school during the weeks. Monday night Barry teaches astronomy. That means our next quiet evening together is not until Tuesday!

Have I mentioned before that life married to this man is not boring?

Oh, by the way, Gina's biopsy for the thyroid tumor is tomorrow and she's pretty nervous about it. Please hold her in prayer. Thanks.

God bless you all. Have a lovely day.
