    Good Morning Everyone!

I had to it. I had to break down and turn the HEAT on this morning! Not just the gas logs, but the heat! The part of the house I'm in is fairly comfortable since I had the logs on this morning, but Jenna's room and the laundry area are really cold and damp feeling. Leave it to Alabama weather to have the air on one day and the heat the next.

Betty, the dogs come first every morning at our house too. They have us well trained! Then the guinea pigs and the cat. Well, the cat gets fed and watered when she wants to be fed and watered. Otherwise she'll come stare at you till you get up and figure out what it is she is lacking.

Today it will be back to work on Jenna's costume. I kept having problems with my overlock machine yesterday and it slowed me down to the point to where I only got the pants mostly done. I think I have gotten into a bad batch of needles. Ended up changing them out twice! That is a whole pack of needles! Doesn't make me real happy when all I buy are the more expensive Schmetz brand needles. Comes out to something like 75 cents a needle! Hopefully I can get the rest of this done without changing them out again.

Cassie's Centerstage drama group puts on their first performance of High School Musical today. :) She was all excited and nervous at the same time this morning and still droopy and dopey from her migraine yesterday. I hope she makes it through today.

Her boyfriend came ringing my doorbell last night at 9 o'clock after he got off of work. Why? He had flowers for his sweetie cause she'd had a migraine all day. Awwwww, isn't that sweeeeetttt! :D

Too bad he hadn't called ahead cause he nearly scared me into getting out the gun. I can't remember the last time someone rang the bell at that time of night and it was just me and the kids here. On top of that, some neighbors of ours had had an intruder on Monday so I was already a little spooked. Poor Dale!

Ann, I agree, it is really nice when our children figure out what their talents are and begin to be successful in using them. Tell her I said congratulations!

Sue, what on earth were you doing up till 2 in the morning? I was dead asleep by ten o'clock and barely remember T coming in.

Okay, time to turn the heat back off! The new heat pump seems to work just a little to well!

    Good afternoon all!

Gorgeous autumn weather here. We love it here in Oregon!

Good for you, Sue, on your promotion! FoG -- you are going to go as ALASKA? You mean a BAKED ALASKA? There's fire in your eyes, I'm sure....LOL

Bought an old fashioned bonnet style hair dryer the other day and my head's under it now. I'm tired of hot rollers. They end up really messing up the hair and I hate perms. My hair is naturally wavy -- actually it looks a lot like it did when I was a toddler if I let it dry without doing something to it! Cute on a toddler but.....

So I'm trying the velcro rollers and this thing on the desk while I do some computer work. I hope it works. This would be an easy way to look nice for the day after I come in from the beasties.

In the meantime a friend of ours is here fixing the shower in the guest bath. I bathed Riko last night while Barry was at an astronomy lecture and realized the pressure was so low in that faucet that our poor guests must end up very frustrated, and no one said a WORD to me! Glad I saw a flea on the dog! I might not have known for a long time about that shower.

Got to tell you about that lecture he attended. A world class astronomer lecturing at the University of Southern Oregon in Ashland. What did she talk about? Religion! Her hate of the Roman Catholic religion she was brought up in and how science is a much better religion. Evidently that was the main theme of her talk!

Oh well, Barry came home and laughed and told me that if that was the best they could do in the secular world, he was on very solid footing with his work.

    Of course I agreed....!

    God bless you all!

 Helen. Methinks you're spending too much time around your resident punmaster.

Actually I thought I'd go as my favorite animal...Chocolate Mousse, of course  [ I was just afraid the chocolate would drip all over the place.]

    Howdy Ya'll!

Whew! My days need to slow down a bit! Nah, ya'll know I love being busy.

Today was bug extermination day so I got myself up this morning, did the daily checkbook balance (good thing too!) and started cleaning up so Doug the bug man could spray and I could get back to work on Jenna's costume. Then the thought struck me: when was the last time I actually walked upstairs and inspected the kid's rooms? Oh my goodness! I really have to start inspecting up there more often. Then again, two kids ages 12 and 15 ought to be able to keep two bedrooms and a bathroom fairly clean without me, right? Anyway, an hour later (didn't hardly take me that long to clean the entire downstairs!) I have up the worst of it, though I refused to pick up the clothes off Cass' floor. They were mostly in one big pile in the center of her floor.

I finally did get the facings sewn down on Jen's costume pants and the extra length trimmed off. And lunch cooked. And chatted with some guy who came around trying to sell me frozen steaks (this happens regularly) and wanted to know if we wanted to sell the '89 isuzu pickup that is wasting away unused at the end of my house. And answered a few phone calls. Untangled spoiled huskies from around each other every time they called. They didn't bother to bark when that guy came to my door. And on and on. And T wonders what I do all day!

I really need to get back to the sewing machine, but I'm kinda enjoying just vegging out in front of the computer and Halloween isn't until Wednesday and I only have a little work to be done on Cass' costume so I'm not really in a rush to finish Jenna's yet and :D

    Ya'll enjoy your Friday evening!

First time I have had time to drop in today. Stopped by for a coke and what great news! Congratulations Sue! A well deserved promotion.

MK, if I had a two story house, I might not ever go upstairs. At least the kids bedrooms and bath are on the other side of the house, but I can't ignore their bath. It is the guest bathroom also. Sissy keeps her room rather neat, dirty clothes in the hamper and trash in the waste basket, but 16 year old CJ is another story. I think he tries to see how often he can miss hitting the trash can and I wish his clothes were in a pile in the middle of the floor. Sometimes he "cleans" his room and most of the stuff goes under the bed. I actually bought a child's plastic rack so that I could get the stuff out, but I don't use it very often.

Both children are so much better than when they first arrived that I really can't complain very much. They help keep the living room, dining room and kitchen clean.

Tomorrow is Sissy's first Horse show. She is very nervous about it. Her first dressage show. I'm not sure she knows all the patterns, but it will be good for her. It is her choice to start competing. I would rather she just have fun riding.

Helen, it is good to be posting, even if only occasionally. I'm going to show your animals to Sissy, but she might want to come live with you.
She would live at the stables if she could. Ed went after her two hours ago. He is so patience with her.

    Good evening all

    Betty

Betty - From one dressage rider to another, tell Sissy to be as exact as possible in her figures (that 20 meter circle needs to be ROUND) and to get the transitions clean. Also RELAX because her mount will surely feel it. Does she have a reader? That helped for my early shows. :) Tell her "good luck!"

Sue - Congrats on the promo!!

I'm typing one handed - suggling a little girl. :) Tomorrow my oldest has her ACT then the girls will be helping for a party across the street.

Well I'll talk to you all tomorrow.

    Morning all,
Just dropped by for a minute. There are some cinnamon rolls on the counter and I am grabbing a Mt. Dew and running. We have soccer games at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:00. I also have to help mom get ready for the fall carnival Wednesday night at her church and unearth the christmas lights that need to be taken by her church on our way to the soccer games. The cat that my sis left has three adorable kittens that are running around the house so we get to play dodge the kitty as well. Y'all have a blessed day!

    Good mornin' folks!

Thirty pages, so Sue will change over soon....

Gorgeous fall weather continues here. Most the leaves are off the trees now, so we can clean gutters this week.

Barry and the granddaughters are off to the fall festival open house at New Hope Christian School today, where the observatory is. I'll stay home with Chris and see how much work he allows me to get done! I think I can work outside in back, where he is free to roam, for a decent amount of time. Lots needs to be done before winter hits.

Hair dryer worked great yesterday. I love looking nice for the day after barn time in the mornings. Dryer is quiet enough for me to have conversations with folks or work here on the computer. Easy to hear the phone and I love the warm air on my head on a cold morning!

So all is well on the western front.

Thankful, your granddaughter may like horses, but these are old ladies here. Although I DID lounge Cookie yesterday now that her leg is healing so well and son of a gun! She behaved like a champ! She knew exactly what she was doing. So now I need to find someone who would like to ride her occasionally. She could use the exercise and the attention! I don't dare. Between being on my second artificial knee (total knee replacement), with no more bone left for another one (if I had a bone graft first, I would be in and out of hospitals and bed for a year. NO THANKS!), and having arthritis, I don't dare ride now. So I'm praying the Lord will send along someone. The girls are not really interested.

At any rate, I was quite impressed with that funny looking white mare! She picked up her feet in a lovely trot and cantered on command. Both directions. We'll see what happens!

    Surprises can be fun.

    God bless you all.

    OK RISE AND SHINE, FOLKS!

It's a beautiful morning here in Oregon, and before I go out to feed the beasties, I made some eggs Benedict, a mixed fruit bowl, and English muffins on the side board. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are on the tea tray.

All is well on the western front.

    God bless you all.

Hi Helen! It is time for me to go to bed (I don't think I should have said that). But it has been a long and fruitful day. I look forward to the blessings of God tomorrow.

    Good afternoon folks,
I am getting ready to eat lunch so I brought some in to share. There is chili, fritos, cheese and onions. Enjoy. It was a good day at church and hope you all have a good afternoon.

    Blessed Sunday Everyone!

Not much going on in the menagerie EXCEPT our local humane society has some great pyrenese (sp?) mix puppies and I'm seriously considering one. Anyone have any experience with them?

This is all Helen's fault ya know. She just had to go get another doggie AND show us pictures and it's been over a year since we lost Hammer and.......Well I just like big dogs! :D

I'm only considering it though. I'm afraid we may lose Mishka (avatar) soon as I continue to find her seizing occasionally. Doc said to let it go until she started have more than two or three a month and then we could try medicating. He was hoping that it was a one time experience, but no. After Halloween she is going to start spending her days in the house so I can count them. I'm afraid I'm not seeing all there are to see. A few days constant attention won't hurt her any if I'm wrong, but I'd hate to right and not get the meds started.

Anyhow, that's the excitement in my life at the moment. I'm feeling very blessed that there isn't anything else happening.

Good morning all and thank you for the congrats! No one was more surprised than me when I was contacted and asked to accept!!!

It is 30ยบ again this morning. I'm not ready for scraping windshields, keeping track of coats, hats, gloves, scarves, shoveling snow, etc...... I'm not even ready for the time change (of course I never am).

I've got to get out this morning and take care of some Freecycle business. I'd rather go back to bed and snuggle under a warm blanket with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa!

I brought in some hot cocoa, peaches and cream oatmeal, buttered toast and jam, apple juice, and milk for breakfast. It's either on the sideboard or in the fridge. Help yourself and clean up after...

    Y'all have a great day!

It's our first really cold morning here and I folded - the heat is on. It was 61 degrees in the house and I just couldn't do it. Oh well - we made it to almost November!

Betty - How did Sissy's show go?? I'd love to hear how it went!

Rob - How are you doing my friend?? I'm praying for you.

Not much here going on. Homeschool, horseback riding and that's about it. Should be interesting to ride today since it's been raining for days and now it's cold. That makes for a nutty horse. I'm going to have to run him around a bit first before I get on him. I'm not looking forward to getting bucked off just yet. LOL!!

Well, off to school! Have a great day all!

    Good morning all,

Still dark here, but that's normal. I'll go feed the beasties when I can see what I'm doing...

Sue, congratulations! I guess we have to tiptoe around here now? Are your powers going to go to your head? :saint:

Ann, something I was thinking about a few days ago and forgot to mention here -- you said a horse at the barn had had his/her nose bitten hard by another horse. You also said, as I recall, that the victim did not have good eyesight.

I've noticed with our horses that eyesight is a major factor in how accepted the animal is by others. Teddy, the dwarf mini, is almost blind in one eye and 'hard of seeing' in the other. But she is a pushy little thing and the others have pretty much accepted her. Cookie is a different matter. Her eyes and ears are both a little faulty and she has been victimized consistently by other horses. I cannot let her in with them because the two bays will attack her. Period. No grace period. She has been with us at least a month now or maybe more. Her stall and enclosure are next to Cameo's and if she gets too close to the fence, Cameo STILL charges at her with ears back and teeth bared.

I've heard of some horses being what a human would think of as 'compassionate', or at least accepting, but perhaps that is rare? Best to keep horses with vision problems away from the rest -- that's the conclusion I am drawing...

Sue, I'm having a hard time getting going today, too! We had the pastor and his family and their Taiwanese student over for dinner yesterday and it was fun, but that was seven extra people, plus the three of us, plus Gina's girls. It was fun but a lot of work and when all had left, Barry and I looked at each other, dug into the cleanup, and then heaved a great mutual sigh of basic tiredness! I have to go downtown today later and my deaf friend from Arizona will be calling later via the video phone, but those are the only two definite things on my list today....oh....got to turn a compost pile and get a little more yard work done. THAT is all, I think. I don't want to think too much. I'll find more work to be done....

OK, Menageriekeeper, don't you DARE blame me for your soft heart! Don't you know it's Jesus who does these things to our hearts? :jesus: All we have to do is keep up ....

God bless you all. I'm going to go wash my hair in the sink and set it and get under this really lovely bonnet dryer so I will be all gorgeous for Barry when he wakes up (well, HE thinks so....! Love this dryer!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 35 and sunny here. We've had frosts for two days now. I hate cold weather [and the dirty white stuff that comes with it] as much as my Cuz hates cooking.

Cuz: I am so sorry about Mishka. Is that breed of dog prone to seizures? A new pup might be just what you need.

Ann: Thank you for your prayers Sis. I figure I'm a Weebil {Weebils wobble, but we don't fall down - I've come close a few times lately but my Lord, Brothers and Sisters, hold me up. :jesus:

    Sue: I am shocked!!! Administrators don't get served breakfast in bed? I thought all the $$ that Andrew is making by selling ads went to providing domestic staff for the Administrative Council. Tell us the truth now, were you made an Administrator because of your long meritorious service to the BB or because it was determined that it would take one of the Archangels [I mean administrators] to keep the Coffeehouse in line? {if we continue to misbehave would they make you the Owner??}

Betty: I have a "Sissy" too. She's our Daughter, she's 33 and even though her real name is Louise everybody around here knows her and calls her "Sissy."

Helen: Hi!, Hmmm, a bonnet-style hair dryer. So Barry thinks he's seeing stars, and he's really seeing you?

I'm getting to be like the rest of you...I only do what needs to be done around the house on weekdays that end in "y".

Have to go to the store and get supplies. I'm making Pizza Biscuit Bears to give out to the kids Halloween night. It's usually cool that night and this will give the kids something warm to chew on. I also have hot cocoa [for the kids] and hot coffee [for the adults] available too. My version of Matthew 25:35 on Halloween. For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in. Matthew 25:35 [NASB]

[edited to say "hi" to Helen, since her post went up while I was typing.]
