No. I just found it tonight, but I'm sure gonna try some of them!

We love Taco Salad and I always have to buy those envelopes of seasoning. It would be great to make my own.

A friend and I once made the home made shake and bake and it was really good. Make sure any seasoning recipe you make your going to use the spices you have to buy to make the mix more then once or it really isn't worth it. I wanted to make taco seasoning once, but the price of the spices compared to the 3/$1. taco packets was cost effective for me.

Thanks Sue. I've used this site b-4. Store bought seasoning mixes sometimes add sugar and lots of sodium. Homemade ones are usually better...

Unless it's part of a larger kit, we don't tend to use seasoning packets. I don't even buy the rice mixes anymore. I just use regular rice and season the water to go with whatever I'm making as the main dish.

Thanks, Sue! This is great. Most storebought seasoning mixes contain MSG or one of it's variants, and MSG gives me severe migraine headaches. It will be wonderful to be able to have some things I haven't been able to enjoy in a long time! :applause:

I didn't know there were vareiants to MSG, what are they? I usually check for MSG and try not to buy anything with it in it.

Pneumocystis carinii can express a broad repertoire of MSG variants.

    glycoprotein

The rest is over my head. LOL

Here is the chart I use. I printed it off, laminated it, and keep in on the fridge: http://www.msgmyth.com/hidename.htm Now, I know this is not a perfect site. For example, it says gelatin ALWAYS contains MSG. I do not believe this. From what I understand MSG is derived from hyper-processed starches, and gelatin is an animal product. I have discovered that most fruit flavored gelatins have it, but not all. So... I use this as a guide, but take my brain along for the trip as well.

Yes, if it's a prepackeaged/processed food item, you can bet it has it. Oddly, not as often in the sweet stuff as in the salty or spicy stuff. :( Maybe I'd loose weight if it was in the sweet stuff! :)

Donna, I've seen that too, I didn't know they sold just msg, I mean who really buys that stuff. I have heard you can't eat chinese unless it's loaded with it. And my husband almost always wants to eat chinese when we eat out.
