I don't think he will be invited back only if he
    takes gun safety course.

The guy got "peppered" with birdshot from thirty yards away in which case its usually harmless---probably less than half the shot penetrated the skin at most in which case the doctor will probably not even attempt to remove the shots----in time the shot will "make their way" to the skins surface.

you guys are going on like he got hit with a bazooka or something----you go Quail hunting or rabbit hunting----what generally happens is---the hunting team forms sorta a line 25-50 yards away from each other---a "shooting" line if you would---if you hunt long enough sooner or later somebody will wind up getting "peppered"---but 99.9999% of the time when you do---from that distance the shot won't even penetrate your clothes you have on.

Besides---they were hunting what is called "Farm Birds"---rich men's way of hunting---they buy the birds from a local farmer who "pen raises" them----they take them out to a field and set them out of the cages and the hapless birds---when they are "flushed" are so fat they can hardly fly---if you read the article--it says that they shot at a "covey" and then Cheney took a few steps and stumbled across another "covey"----now----REAL quail---in the wild----you can go hunting with the best bird dogs in the county---and you can walk all day long over the county---and you may "stumble across" a covey---who when the dogs "flush" are so fast---you MIGHT(if you're lucky) get maybe one shot off---and you're shooting with a automatic!!!!

These men were hunting like "rich men" do   hardly a sport with "Farm raised" birds

The lawyer should only hunt in Vietnam...Cheney would never pick up a gun and go there.

Was the lawyer eating at the time? If so, I suppose it was unsporting.

Is there a bounty on lawyers?

Blackbird, you may be wrong about this one. I realize this would be your first mistake in a long, long time. But get your chin up and take it like a man.

I just had a friend return from Texas where his hunting party found 90 coveys of wild quail in 5 days. There are places still left in this world where reliving the good old days of quail hunting is still possible. Texas and Mexico are two of them.

Yup, yup. Northern Mexico has several places where hunters from the USA come down to shoot wild quail. I prefer to fish, though.

If I were GW, I'd be worried when Cheney says "I got your back."

Interesting. I always viewed Cheney as shoot-from-the-hip kinda guy.

What's the difference between Dick Cheney and Ted Kennedy?

Cheney will take you to the hospital after an accident.

We deer hunt and you are right. You have to stay where others expect you to be and everyone has to share those expectations.

It is more difficult with bird hunting though.

Recently we saw a soy bean field with about 20 deer gleaning it. This summer those same deer will do thousands of dollars in damage. If conservation agrees that the damage is excessive, they'll authorize nuisance kills.

Farmers can use basically any method for baiting the deer out so they can be shot and left laying for scavengers.

I don't really know what Texas law says about baiting but here it is only legal for the nuisance hunts.

Baiting deer within two weeks of a hunting season will get you a big fine.

If you've ever had a car totalled by a deer...you think all of them are a nuisance!!!

I knew a guy who something like this happened to once. He was hunting with some buddies and took one stray piece of buckshot to his chin. It knocked him down and left a little bruise, but not much else.

I wonder whether they were all wearing their safety orange?
