I have been accused of not posting about substance and "issues" re: Obama. Well, here's substance and here's a big issue, for MP and others......

There is nothing defensible about this stance on partial-birth abortion. Everyone can argue (here on the BB and in mainstream America) til the cows come home about "when life begins" and the merits of abortion in the first trimester, when there's a "viable" baby that should not be aborted, etc. .... but ANYONE who can defend THIS PBA thing--when there's a baby already partially BORN to THIS world, and then someone KILLS the child--that is incomprehensible to me. I would not do this or condone this for a DOG. In fact, I bet if pro-lifers were to put up ads of this kind of procedure being done TO a dog, or cat, or baby seal---then I bet there'd be a terrible uproar. Calling this "good medicine" is, well...I'm stunned.

Those on the BB who are for Obama are so, as as been said, because they are not "one-issue-voters"---and that is certainly their right. But please understand that it is MY right to be utterly disgusted by ACTIVE lobbying for the "right" of a woman to do this to her baby. I have never been a "one-issue voter" either--but THIS issue is a pretty weighty one, and such strong SUPPORT OF such a heinous aspect of the abortion-issue (not merely "tolerance" of "established law"), is certainly worthy of discussion.

When Obama first came on the national political scene--and even in recent months--I was enamored of his "style" and political savvy and what appeared to be genuine zeal for a "better America". But, in the absence of substantive governmental experience to judge him on by his record, I am left with THIS kind of stuff--stuff that has made me realize that I cannot--in good conscience--vote for the man. Promises of "change" and "unity" sound fabulous....until you start to wondering exactly "what" he wants to change us to--and what we're being unified under. Certainly, I would like a stable economy, a suitable end to the Iraq war, peace, safe borders, a higher paying job, a chicken in every pot, and a new chevy in my driveway....but the more I learn, I realize there is nothing that I have found IN OBAMA'S PUBLIC RECORD that indicates to me he can deliver any part of that (the possible OR the ridiculous)...because everything that I DO see publicly from him--other than his magnificent public-speaking--indicates that I WON'T like what he'll ACTUALLY bring to the table in the Oval Office.

There was a link posted a few days ago where obama thinks it is alright to murder a baby born alive, fully born from it's mother.

Thanks....I didn't see that, but I googled and found a bunch of links that reminded me that even if we DO "lay off Michelle", Obama's record on abortion DOES have enough history to let us know where he stands on the issue.

This comment that he made in a USA Today article:

... But my opponent's accusations nagged at me.... If I am opposed to abortion for religious reasons but seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.

is probably the most disturbing comment I have read by him. If he can garner no basic defense of HUMAN LIFE that he feels is worthy of consideration by "those with no faith at all" to even put it to a vote....DOES he have the ability to truly LEAD this nation? If everything must be put to a litmus test before he can even formulate the basic notion of it being "right enough" to fight for, is it any wonder that he feels that we as a nation should "bend to the will" of the world at large? It is one thing to say that we should consider "the world" before we consume another hamburger or drive an SUV--it is quite another to not feel that your reasonable convictions of the sanctity of life have validity of their own and need "justification" to an atheistic world. How then could he defend ANY principle that he might "hold dear"? Again I have to wonder--WHAT change is he wanting to occur in this country? I'm not liking the answers that are starting to come to mind.

    Uh huh.

I believe the procedure know as "partial birth abortion" is nothing short of murder.

The Obamas both advocate murder of the innocent.

    Thank you - substance.

Mrs Obama said these thinsg with the support of her husband. This is a clear and definable reason to reject supporting Senator Obama.
