    Hi,

I'd like to find a good book on Christian marriage but there are so many to choose from. I thought this might be a good place to ask for recommendations.

What Christian marriage books have you liked and why?

    Thanks

Honestly, I've read a few and find that many of them are lacking or just bad. The worst so far has been Created to be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl.

The Excellent Wife by Martha Pearce (I think it is) was a good one.

But by far the best book and the ONLY book I recommend to women is the Word of God. Follow that and you're doing great.

I've read a few christian books in marriage and all I saw was women should be treated like doormats, they are obviously inferior to their husbands and marriage problems are all her fault.
I agree with Ann, the bible has a lot to say about the marriage relationship and being a christian woman and wife.

Thanks. I'm looking for something that explains things like what the bible means by wives "submitting". I saw in another thread that there's considerable debate over what it means.

I know what the bible says, I'm just not sure how to interpret it.

I saw someone mention Created to be his Helpmeet, it is a VERY good book to read. I was recently engaged, and then it broke off. that was one book that helped me a lot.

ALSO.. there is a book called "His Needs, Her Needs" it is a very good book on Christian marriage, and just knowing the needs of your husband/ and him the same.

but the one that helped me the most is "Getting to know your husband". This book made me understand my fiance more than i realized. it shows alot about the things you have to deal with and everything. i can get you the authors if you need them, but they are in storage for now.

The best book I have ever read was "Power of a Praying Wife" by Stormie Omartian I got so much out of that book too bad my marriage went South but I still picked up some valuable pointers!

Power of a Praying Wife is an excellent book. I reread it about once a year just to stay in shape. LOL

My favorite book is The Excellent Wife by Martha Pearce.

As far as the meaning of submitting to one's husband, I think it is important that the husband and wife agree on what submitting means.
