Odd thought.....

    Did Christ love us or just the Father?

    As in: God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son.....

    So we know that God the Father loved/s us, but was Christ's main purpose pleasing God (out of His love for the Father) or was His objective to love us? (or maybe equal purposes?)

    "Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end" (John 13:1).

    "And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Gal. 2:20).

    John 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

    Either Jesus was being very sacrastic or if the father loved us enough to send his only begotten Son then imagine how much he loves his son...and that is how much Jesus loved us!! Isn't that AWESOME!!

    It is always a theological blunder to say that one person of the trinity does something but another member does not. Since the Father loves us, then ergo, by definition, the Son loves us and the Spirit loves us. As Jesus said, "I and my Father are one." [​IMG]

    Often I have very little time to sit down with the Word and really concentrate on what it says. Which means I read and then go about all the things I have to do and let it percolate for a while.

    The passage this question came from is John 5:19-30. Verse 30 at the end says "for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me". This passage is all about the relationship between God the Father and God the Son and the part I quoted was what I got stuck on.

    As John of Japan said: Since the Father loves us, then ergo, by definition, the Son loves us and the Spirit loves us.

    All three must be in agreement or they could not be one.

    In John 17---Jesus pointed out in His prayer to the Father that

    --the Father loves US as much as He loves His Son!!

    Now, THAT'S love!!!
