    Good HOT Afternoon !!!

Checking in briefly... hope you all are doing well. The heat is on here in Louisiana! I am about to fix me a glass of my sweet southern iced tea and sit under a big ole shade tree and enjoy the birds bathing in the bird bath.

    ~ See Ya ~

    Good morning all,

Sorry I haven't been around, but we had company from MO for 4 days.

This week is a busy one too! Tomorrow, with any luck, my dentures will fit when I pick them up and I will actually be able to CHEW! :applause:

We are heading to WI early Wednesday morning and will be back very late that same night.

Then on Saturday, Dale's grandson is getting married in KY, so we will be leaving early Saturday morning and coming back sometime Sunday.

I am trying to get things ready for WI so all we have to do Wednesday morning is get up and go. Even though we will just be there one day, I will be taking at least 3 outfits.

And that doesn't include blow dryer, make-up, toiletries, Coke Zero, ice, and sugar-free snacks in the cooler. It's hard to find sugar-free and fat-free foods in a restaurant!

Play nice while I'm gone and please pray for travel mercies.

    Thanks and see you soon!

Sue - Isn't it funny how even a short trip can mean so much packing? I do that all the time - and DH finally is used to it. :D

So we're back from our vacation and we had a wonderful time. Didn't go TOO far from home and didn't get to sail too much because of no wind, but we had a great time anyway. We had to wait to swim because anywhere we went, there were HUGE jellyfish and I don't think they're good swimming companions. They were EVERYWHERE and just this morning, Nicole and I counted 91 of them in just 10 minutes of motoring. Bleck! So we waited to swim until we went up the Connecticut River to Hamburg Cove which is a fresh water cove that is beautiful. We swam a LOT - Robby stayed in the water for 3 hours at one point. LOL

So now we're home for a while before we try another trip. I've got tons of laundry to do and lots of cleaning up too. The girls have their "youth week" this week (a week of activities for the youth at church) and the littles will just hang out with me. We also have the fireman's fair in our neighborhood (a carnival kind of thing) and so I'll have to take the littles there too.

Gotta say, it's good to be home but as usual after living on a sailboat for a time....THIS CHAIR IS ROCKING! LOL! That will go away some time tomorrow. :D

    GOOD MORNING !!!

Did you sleep well? This southern boy got a full night's sleep and feels better than ever! Maybe it is talking to the LORD first thing in the morning while sippin' my wonderful cup of bayou blend - or - maybe it is because He has blessed my life and showered me with love and hapiness... maybe that is why I feel so good. Maybe it is because I know my (heavenly) eternal destiny?! Could be that I am a servant of the Most Powerful and High. Just very well could be that I "Trust and Obey" -- and am "happy with Jesus". I think it might be all of 'em. Thank you, Dear LORD, for sending your Son to the cross that we might have eternal life and while we stay here on earth -- we are very content and happy with the many things you have blessed us with.

I'll share something with you this morning. Growing up, I told myself that when I become old enough to make my own decisions (to go to college, get a job, buy a house, etc.), I wanted my main goal in life to be rich and happy. I wanted to leave Louisiana, I even said "there is no opportunity here in the country" and be bigger than ever. I wanted to attend New York University and major in broadcast journalism. I have corresponded with Barbara Walters and Dan Rather. I have visited CNN numerous times. I have talked with producers and anchors. I have been on a national talk show via telephone. When I lived in Oklahoma City, I worked with The Oklahoman, a state-wide newspaper for the state of Oklahoma. I have been to local NBC affiliate KOCO 5 (in O.K.) and met with the entire morning crew one morning and interviewed them. Locally (in L.A. ), I have been to our CBS affiliate KNOE 8 more times than I could count. I have even sat on the news set beside the anchors during the entire 30 minute noon report. At the end of the show, I was on air and one of the anchors asked me a few questions about my future and I answered. He joked that I would take his place when he left. I have been featured on the local weather reports for my interest in severe weather.

You could conclude that I really had a passion for the field of journalism. Nothing could take that away from me. Kacie and I were going to live in a Manhattan sky-rise and I was going to take a black SUV to work every morning. She was going to stay home and watch me on the morning show. Franklin Parish in Louisiana would be the last of my worries. Soon, I would imagine, would be long forgotten.

I ask myself now... "where was God in any of this?" I'll tell you now... all the money in the world will not make you happy. At the end of the day when you're tired from shopping, tired from working, tired from the daily life... you feel as if you're missing something. Friend, you're missing God. You're missing one of the most important... the greatest... you're missing what makes life work. Sure, give me a million and I would have been happy for a year. Sooner or later, you're gonna get tired of it. It's like a brand new toy... after a couple days, weeks, months -- you want more. Who wants to live like that? I tended to think that money was the answer to all sorrow and pain. I thought money could buy anything.

Money can not buy your salvation. Money can not buy your ticket to Heaven. Money can not buy love. Jesus Christ can.

So, I thought, which was more important? Fame and fortune (I had a great shot at it) or Heaven and happiness (had a great shot at it)? I chose to follow God, Amen.

I have put my faith all in Him and ever since -- He has never led me astray. I pledged to be DIFFERENT from the world and not like it (II Corinthians 6:17). I wanted to actually "be different" and not look like it. In other words, I wanted the Holy Spirit that was in me to dwell in and out. I do not want to go to an unGodly college. I do not want to hold an UnGodly position in this filthy world. I do not want to be showered in money. I do not want to dress like the world. I do not want to listen to their kind of music....and I will not! I want to be different... and this is what God wants us to be! Do you think God is happy with us "believing in Him" but not showing it completely?

All my life I have been vocally opinionated. I have stood my ground and have stood fast in my beliefs. I have made sure that people around me know what I will and will not listen to and take part in. Sometimes, I can not control what others do. Even sometimes, I can not control the control others have on me, but know what? God can. That is the best part. Guess what else? He gets them in a way that I never could. This is where I find my peace... I let God fight for me, as the scripture says. People think they get away with things on earth, but they never take the time to think that one day when they're on their knees in front of God -- their power will be no more and for every bad action and for every foul play they took against someone serving the Lord -- O' what a heavy price they'll pay. I find comfort in knowing that I can serve the LORD all I want to with all my might. I'm happy all the time. My Master works around me and will protect me completely. He has built a stone wall around my heart -- and stone wall that no one could ever break down.

I am sure some will think that because I'm not going to college, I'll be a failure. God forbid. All I have to say is I've proved many, many "educated, authoritative" and "certified" (and those lower than that, some that are just plain ignorant ) people wrong on numerous occasions -- and I can not wait to do it again.

This morning -- I'm just thanking Him for giving me peace and happiness. I thank Him for giving Kacie peace and happiness. We get along so well. God has definitely meant for us to be together. I have been through some tough times this past year and evidentially God thought I would need a hand to hold and a shoulder to cry on so He sent Kacie -- because I surely did. To this day, I have never been happier with her, my life, and what my future holds. Sadly, I can not post details. I even learned I can not post when I'm going to Wal-Mart anymore. I learned that a couple weeks ago, but I can post that I am happier and most content than ever. I'll always have God, so I always will be. Sometimes I ask God.. "why so much for such a teenager?" He responds... "Did you not handle it well?" I smile.

Have a great day y'all... I have ran my posting time into breakfast cookin' time, lol. Catch y'all later!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Shane, what happened at Walmart? :(

It's good you have peace about your decisions. Just remember though that if we get to peaceful (stuck in our ways) God is liable to change things on us again. I guess you can hold your own against folk who say you'll be a failure if you don't head off to university. There are many successful people around who never set foot inside the door.

I hope everyone had a nice 4th of July weekend. We stayed around the house for the most part and got a bunch of things done. I'm finally feeling some better on the meds the doc gave me for the arthritis. Seems I have let the pain slip up on me to the point it was affecting my moods. Didn't recognize how badly until the pain lessened, then the family let me in on the problem.

I'll be on and off the board for the next few weeks tending to real life stuff that has either been neglected or just plain needs doing. I'll attempt to stop in every now and again.

Ya'll enjoy what's left of summer! School starts in just over a month! :D

School starts here in just 2 months! We just got out! Our school goes from the first Wednesday after Labor day to the end of June so our summer just started. :)

Today is clean up the entry hall and do all the laundry day. Oh - it's also taxi day apparently. I need to hit up the grocery store too even though we have a good number of things leftover from the trip. It's going to be a hot and humid day so I already have the AC going in the den and will close up the house in a few (it was closed up for a week and I'm just letting it air out a bit). I think tonight is a good night for a big salad for dinner. I make one that the family loves with greens, chicken, craisins, glazed walnuts, mandarin oranges, blue cheese and a honey balsamic vinaigrette. I'm going to pick up some nice bread to go with it at the grocery store and we'll be set. The girls have another night of youth week tonight and I think I'll try to take the kids to the fireman's fair tonight too.

    Have a wonderful day everyone!!

menagerie, I do not want to talk about it. I don't even want to address it privately. It would be foolish of me to post what happened on BaptistBoard.com when it was my posting and BaptistBoard.com that gave this person or these people specific details on how to find me. I brought this up to explain why I was not posting my current plans, but posted my past plans. Likewise, I'll post when I get back home and where I went and not when I'm leaving and where I'm going. There are people out there that try to live the lives of others and not their own, and most importantly, are lost and need our Saviour. I try to have compassion for such people (does not mean you have to fellowship with them) and not have as much anger, as Jesus would.

My song is on... "Welcome to the Family" by Booth Brothers!

The sun will soon be setting 'neath those tall southern trees.. letting me know it is time for bed, fred. I had to block the heat from the sunlight hitting this glass window behind my computer... it was getting hot in here! Our air conditioner blows hard, so it didn't take but a minute for it to cool off. Plus, the vent is in the ceiling right over my chair. I cool off real fast, lol.

Sleep well y'all... see ya dark and early! ;)

    Good morning all,

We left for WI Wednesday morning at 6:30 and arrived back hom in IL at midnight. We were worn out!

Brent came up from MO yesterday and will be staying with us until Monday. That is always a treat.

DH is leaving tomorrow morning for a grandson's wedding in KY. He will be back on Sunday sometime.

After this week (due to gas prices) we will probably be home the rest of the summer!

I'm fixing buckwheat pancakes with fresh blueberries, sausage links, scrambled omelets, and English muffins for breakfast. I'm sure there will be plenty left over so help yourself.

    HAGD!

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Sorry I haven't been here for awhile, but I've been battling stomach flu for the past few days, I've been living on French Onion Soup and warm crusty bread. I know that sounds like an odd combination but it works.

Your breakfast sounds great Sue, thanks for sharing.

Everybody had a great time at our 4th Of July Celebration. The weather stayed great, we had plenty of food and fun.

Next friday I go in for my stress test. Don't know what my doc saw on the EKG but I'm sure this will identify it.

Not much going on around here, seems good for a change too.

    ~ GOOD MORNING ~

    da bayou blend

I'm already halfway through my quart of coffee...and the rest ain't got much time left here on the bayous this morning! I soaked up much time for prayer and readin' in bed this morning - delaying me getting on up and firing up the battlestation. I had to come in here to make the coffee, or should I say "pour in the fresh, cool southern water into Mr Bunn" -- cuz he ain't like the norm' coffee maker. He makes a full pot in less that 3 minutes and makes the best tasting coffee in the whole wide world! Anyway, I saw my battlestation sittin' over here, but I knew I better get all the quiet time in I could to myself, lol.

The two weather graphics issued by the National Weather Service for Winnsboro, Louisiana -- declare hot! Two big ole suns stare at me for Saturday and Sunday -- topping 97º each day, but have great humidity in place sending heat index values over 100º! You better believe that I'll have my mason jar of sweet southern iced tea made and my big jug of water with me... whew!

I wanna go catch the cool of the morning before that hot sun comes out, so I better send this post off into cyber 'net. Have a great Saturday, y'all. Don't forget to thank the LORD for all the magnificent blessings He has given to us.

    Good Mornin' Y'all!

I may be late gettin' on Baptist Board, but I sure wasn't late startin' my day! From the rain, lightening, and thunder and my racin' head, I'm not sure if I slept a wink last night. Oh well- at least some trees got watered. I had been wanting a good rain -- and I am so glad I got it, even if it kept me up all night, lol. It felt wonderful this early morning, by the way.

I'll turn on the coffee pot since no one else made it this morning. Hope you have a great day!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is sunny and hot here in Michigan, no more rain is forcast for the rest of the week.

Thanks for the bayou blend Shane.

My oldest grandson Jacob has breathing tests at the hospital as we speak. He was recently diagnosed with asthma.

My Sister-in-Law, who is a Physical Therapist, examined my shoulder and from her exam she told me that it appears that I have severely strained the three major tendons in the shoulder capsule. She recommended that I continue my anti-inflamatory [Naproxen], use ice on the shoulder twice a day, and she gave me some exercises to do to maintain the mobility of the shoulder so I don't develop a "frozen shoulder."

It's just about lunch time so how about...Crisp and Creamy Baked Chicken, Cheddar Biscuits, and Triple-Layer Lemon Pie for dessert.

If you would please be in prayer for me I would appreciate it. I go in for my Cardiac Stress Test this friday.

Hope everybody has a great day!

Oh Rob! It sounds like you're definitely needing some prayer for your physical self! You got it brother!

All's normal here. We're cleaning up this place for Lauren's graduation party on Saturday and this week is "MiniDOZ" for the young girls in the church. So that means we leave the house at 5:30 and don't get back home until around 8:30PM. I'm going to ride in a bit too - if the weather holds out (looks like it's going to rain).

Catch ya'll later! I've got to put a few things away, finish my on-line grocery shopping then head off to the barn. :)

I can't keep myself from yawning and my eyes are heavy... [IMG]

The storms that rolled over Franklin Parish last night did a little damage to Granny Gumbo's house. The lightening struck almost every appliance in her house, including her refrigerator, air conditioner, and phone lines. I did not know this 'til Kacie and I saw her in Wal-Mart this morning... she filled us in. That explained her phone line being busy... it was out of service.

I pray for a safe night's sleep tonight -- and maybe us around here will get some sleep. Lori Beth, Kacie, Granny and I had horrible nights last night. I do believe that we will have very cool temps tonight with clearing skies, praise the Lord.

    Sleep well. xo
