The brain is an organ in our body that gets sick also...

SFIC, how do you propose to doctor the brain as an organ?

Do you use the same philosophy as the JWs or Cultic faith healers that deny medical treatment to their children falsly believing that God will always heal them without the help of medicine?

How would you treat a brain tumor?
    What about depression?
    What about schyzophrenia (sp?)

All of these require medicine that affects the brain.

Which is why your extreme view of Alcohol has clouded your mind to the point that you would deny medicine to patients that needs it...
Your mind is clouded by the events of your life, so much so that you now espouse bad theology, that borders on cultic.

And we still do... Read James 5:14.. it is advocating using medicine along with prayer... look into the word anoint, and the medicinal use of oil in the NT... It is saying to apply the medicine and pray, and God will save the sick.
Why is it always an either/or with you... God uses Drs... God uses medicines... Are you so blind that you can't see God's hands on your doctors? The Doctors we use are all Christians... (Except the one that did brain surgery on my youngest son.. he was muslim.. but after the surgery admitted to us, "you have a wonderful God" because he knew we were Christian)
Yeah, sure, blame America's problems on Medicines...Geesh!
And all this time I thought Bush was the blame for all of America's problems!

I'm confused. I know that you take medicines and visit doctors. Why do you do that?

To answer your OP about God having a double standard...

No, God does not have double standards...

But people with Standards that are based on their cultural upbringing instead of the full counsel of scripture, will have a torqued view of God's standards that when taken to the cultic extreme, wrap around on themselves thus trapping them into an either/or situation in which they cannot see the standard of grace... they end up blind, and ignorant.

God does not want our minds clouded with alcohol or drugs. We are supposed to be sober and vigilant.

Children on ritalin and other mind altering drugs are not sober and vigilant.

My view on alcohol has not clouded my judgment on medicines, tim. My view on alcohol is exactly what the Word of God says, we are not to partake of it (Proverbs 23:31).

My view on medications is, if they alter the mind and cause one to not be able to think clearly and rationally, they are not to be taken. God does not want our minds clouded by drugs of any kind.

Nor does He want our minds deceived by those who would give us such drugs.

God gave us doctors. But He did not give us permission to take mind altering drugs. If my doctor ever prescribes a mind altering drug, I will not take it.

    Tim,

Read James 5:14 in context. It is not the oil (which by the way is not drugs) that heals, it is the prayer of faith that brings about the healing.

Also, the anointing of oil was on the outside, not taken internally, and certainly not clouding the mind.

From a book by Dr. Peter Breggin, M. D. "Talking Back To Ritalin:What Doctors aren’t telling you about stimulants for your children":

Yes, the brain gets sick...however, as this quote says, there have been NO objective tests (like an xray for a broken...or an MRI for a tumor, etc) which diagnose ADD/ADHD. So why prescribe a "mind-altering" drug like Ritalin to alter a child's behavior when nobody really knows what those drugs are doing to the brain, which is an extremely complex organ. I'm glad I never allowed my children to take Ritalin...and Tim has absolutely no right to call anybody a "child abuser" for withholding a medication that has proven to be harmful to the children of this country.

    Whatever...
    Do you believe Fibermyalgia exists?

It is going to be ironic when one of your tag team develops some disease, like dementia, or Alzheimers, and the drs prescribe "mind altering" drugs..
Or you develop a disease in which you will need to take high potent pain killers....

If you stick to your guns and deny them I will really, really respect you.
But remember when the Dr. says "you need to take this", and you take morephine, or even Codeine, or anything that takes pain away, that says, "you should not operate heavy machinery" You will then be a hypocrite.

My guess is, you have already taken tylenol, Advil, or some other pain pill...
Yep, read the side affects.. if you take enough of them, they will alter your mind.

So please quit playing the righteous duo, and leave us alone.
BTW, if I knew someone was denying medicine to their children that the Drs said they need, I would personally report them to the CPS.
    It is child abuse.

Yes, I do...I have a friend who has this and she isn't taking "mind-altering" drugs either. This has nothing to do with ADD/ADHD which has NOT been OBJECTIVELY diagnosed through medical testing.

My mother died from Alzheimers at the age of 84...not from the drugs she was prescribed...her mother (my grandma) also died from Alzheimers...at the age of 92. I have alot of good Christian friends whose parents have Alzheimers...that won't fly Tim. You wishing this "fate" on us? My father died of cancer 10 years ago...he had to take very strong pain killers...but it did not alter his mind...it eased his terrible pain.

I've taken both morphine and Codeine...not to alter my behavior, but to deaden the pain from out-patient surgery. There was no way I could operate heavy machinery...was too sleepy. The drugs wore off and there were no long lasting effects, unlike what the medical field is finding out about Ritalin.
Sure have...no lasting "mind-altering" effects from that either.
So report me! You need my address? How about my childrens' addresses? I could even get my son to represent me...he's an attorney who did not take Ritalin as a child. (even though the doctor did prescribe it for him...that's right, I withheld the medication)

Dr. Peter Breggin does not believe the disorder exists, though I do believe he has alot of good information the public needs to know.

"PBS Frontline also did a five part TV series entitled 'Medicating Kids', which was specifically about ADHD. Fred Baughman and Breggin were the major critics used in this series.[11] In an interview during this time period he referred to ADHD as a "fiction".

Incorrect. I guess you missed this in the other thread-

Um, you just posted to Tim that your Attorney son took Ritalin. So I am not sure why you're pointing out that your Attorney son took Ritalin. What your point is in that.
    Please calm down.

WOW... A teetotler taking Morphine, and condemning others that take mind-altering drugs...

    The following information is from
    http://www.narconon.ca/morphine.htm

I will highlight the parts that may interest the readers to enable to allow them to see your ...uh... inconsistancy...
Remember you just admitted to taking this drug, but are condemning others for taking "mind-altering" drugs...

    OK here it is...

Need I say more, or can everyone see the problem of this person that abhors alcohol and ritalin, and all "mind-altering" drugs?

    I rest my debate...

You have no leg to stand on.
*edited to be a little nicer... I am sorry for getting this hot over an issue that really doesn't mean anything...

These are the medications you stated your Doctor perscribed for you in a thread you began within the last few days.
When you were asked about this before, you stated you did not get your perscriptions filled. I am unsure of why anyone would waste the Doc's time for him to write out perscriptions a person had no intention of having filled but whatever...

I only looked up one of your medications, as I know it has mind altering effects. Our Doc perscribed it for our teenage son's asthma. We have some here at the house. We monitor him closely in the rare instances he needs it, though it's probably not needed.

    Albuterol Inhaler
    Singulair 10mg
    Advair 250/50
GENERIC NAME: SALBUTAMOL (ALBUTEROL) - ORAL DISK INHALER (sal-BYOU-tuh-mole)

Medication Uses | How To Use | Side Effects | Precautions | Drug Interactions | Overdose | Notes | Missed Dose | Storage | Medical Alert
USES: This drug relaxes the smooth muscle in the lungs and opens airways to improve breathing. It is used to treat asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and to prevent exercise-related asthma.
HOW TO USE: Make sure you understand how to correctly use the inhaler device and the disks, and how this product is used with your other asthma drugs. Consult your pharmacist or doctor and read all manufacturer instructions carefully. Doses and frequency of use varies depending on your age and medical condition. Follow all prescription label directions exactly. When inhaling this product, take a fast, deep breath. Rinse your mouth after using to help prevent dryness and relieve throat irritation. Use this medication exactly as prescribed. Do not use it more frequently without your doctor's approval. Excessive use may result in decreased effectiveness and increased side effects. If symptoms do not improve or worsen after using this drug or if you find yourself using this more than usual, contact your doctor immediately.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dry mouth, irritated throat, dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, heartburn, loss of appetite, altered taste sensation, restlessness, anxiety, nervousness, trembling, and sweating may occur but should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. Inform your doctor if you experience: chest pain, pounding heartbeat, breathing difficulties. In the unlikely event you have a serious allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

When Linda was given that morphine by the doctor she was in so much pain that they gave her the morphine without telling her what it was.

And she did not ask for it.

But guess what? She did not have the long-term side effects that Ritalin causes.

The morphine was administered as a one time drug to ease pain... not to alter her mind. And she did not get hooked on it.

As to the prescriptions the doctor gave me, Linda can tell you we came home from the doctors and brought the prescriptions with us. We did not even take them to the pharmacy that day.

Don't jump to conclusions as to if I am taking those inhalers or not when you do not know what I have done with them.

Inhalers are for the lungs, not the mind. They do not affect the mind... which God wants to be alert, not drugged.

Tim did not call anyone a child abuser, that accusation is false. And he has every right to call it Child abuse, because that is what it is according to Mississippi law. IF this took place in Miss, but the laws are similar.

Not only is it a crime to withold a child's needed medication, it is A SECOND crime to paddle the child due to the symptoms resulting from the deliberate removal of that child's medication. Criminal charges upon two counts of child abuse because this occured between a child and person whom was NOT the child's parents. Parents are often NOT prosecuted but others are.

    MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972
    As Amended

SEC. 97-5-39. Contributing to the neglect or delinquency of a child; felonious abuse and/or battery of a child.
    (1) Any parent, guardian or other person who willfully commits any act or omits the performance of any duty, which act or omission contributes to or tends to contribute to the neglect or delinquency of any child or which act or omission results in the abuse and/or battering of any child, as defined in Section 43-21-105 (m) of the Youth Court Law or who knowingly aids any child in escaping or absenting himself from the guardianship or custody of any person, agency or institution, or knowingly harbors or conceals or aids in harboring or concealing any child who has absented himself without permission from the guardianship or custody of any person, agency or institution to which such child shall have been committed by the youth court shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or by imprisonment not to exceed one (1) year in jail, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Now I think we can put this issue to rest.

    Neglect
    Citation: Ann. Code § 43-21-105

    Neglected child means a child:
Whose parent, guardian, custodian, or any person responsible for his or her care or support neglects or refuses, when able so to do, to provide for him or her proper and necessary care or support, education as required by law, or medical, surgical, or other care necessary for his or her well-being
    • Who is otherwise without proper care, custody, supervision, or support
Who, for any reason, lacks the special care made necessary for him or her by reason of his or her mental condition, whether said mental condition be mentally retarded or mentally ill
    • Who, for any reason, lacks the care necessary for his or her health, morals, or well-being

    Newsflash Joe!

My children are both older than you are...and the Mississippi law doesn't apply here either. So posting all that Mississippi law stuff was a waste of time. Tim did say that anyone who withholds medications from their children is a "child abuser"...could have been in the other thread ... irregardless, anyone who says they would report someone to the CPS is calling that person a "child abuser".

Why don't you report me then?
