Asked to define sin, Barack Obama replied that sin is, "being out of alignment with my values." Statements such as this have caused many people to wonder whether Obama has a God complex or is hopelessly arrogant. For the record, sin isn't being out of alignment with your own values (if it were, Hannibal Lecter wouldn't be a sinner because his values hold that it's OK to eat people) nor is it being out of alignment with Obama's — unless he really is our Savior. Source: http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/08/obama-the-postm.html

So either Obama, who claims to be a Christian, has no idea what the Bible says is sin, or he is here making a veiled claim to divinity.

He's clearly in over his head in trying to talk about Biblical truth or theological verities.

When asked: Do you pray often?
    OBAMA responded:

So in BHO’s case asking yourself questions is having an ongoing conversation with God. He really does think he is divine!

When asked: Do you try to take some time for whatever, meditation prayer reading?
    OBAMA responded:

So again, BHO’s internal monologue (speaking to himself) supplants prayer and Bible study. Another hint to his divinity complex? Amazing!

According to his own words he believes in a works based salvation.

I think from his answers it is safe to say he does not know Jesus as Savior.. After all, he doesn't beleive he needs saved from anything...

His answer to what is sin shows what an arrogant person he is.

I am beginning to believe he does believe he is "The One"...

What a shock he will be in for when he stands in Judgment in front of the "Real One' and God sends him to the Lake of Fire.

We need to really pray for him.
As much as I would hate for him to win the presidency, I wouldn't want him to burn in Hell for all eternity.

It is easy to see that he has developed a mosaic outlook toward religion coming from a broken home. He has insulated his soul with the concept of tolerance, so that everytime someone points out that Jesus is the only way, his insulation of tolerance protects him.

This tolerance rules his life and his decisions.. from being pro choice, to being pro gay marriage, to not proclaiming that anyone is wrong.

The sad thing is his belief in tolerance has went full circle that in reality, he is not tolerant at all. He will not tolerate the truth of the Gospel of Christ to penetrate his heart.. He will not tolerate the truth that Jesus is THE ONLY WAY to God.
And as a world leader, his tolerance for Christians will slowly fade to the point that Christians will become to him hatemongers, and therefore must be prosecuted.

Jesus promised persecution.... watch out America... Obama is on his way....

This man has no idea what christianity is, no idea who Christ is. His answers are classic unbeliever answers, and nothing like even an uneducated (biblically so) christian would even answer.
Apparently he has fallen for the new age "I AM GOD" lies. Because thats exacetly what he sounds like, a new ager.

I was in New Orleans for a few days and you should have seen the Obama T-shirts that some people were wearing. Obama is reaching cult status with some people. They actually believe that he is going to change things. The sheer ignorance of some people is amazing.

Those are not the kind of answers a biblical Christian would give, that's for sure.

    That rings a bell:

    Bush on Religion and God

President Says He Believes Muslims and Christians Pray to Same God

    http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=193746&page=1

Oct. 26, 2004 - While the president often refers to God during public addresses to his supporters, Bush's religious convictions don't always seem to reflect those of the conservative Christians who make up his political base.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson, Bush said he believes that both Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

"I think we do. We have different routes of getting to the Almighty," Bush said. "But I want you to understand, I want your listeners to understand, I don't get to get decide who goes to heaven. The Almighty God decides who goes to heaven and I am on my personal walk," he said.

    WorldNetDaily.com Exclusive TESTING THE FAITH
Bush: All religions pray to 'same God'
'That's what I believe. I believe Islam is a great religion that preaches peace'
    Posted: October 07, 2007

President George Bush has repeated his belief all religions, "whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God" – an assertion that caused outrage among evangelical leaders when he said it in November 2003.

Bush made the statement Friday in an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi.

Al Arabiya is Al Jazeerah's top competitor in the Mideast.

President Bush uses religious language more than any president in U.S. history, and some of his key speechwriters come right out of the evangelical community. Sometimes he draws on biblical language, other times old gospel hymns that cause deep resonance among the faithful in his own electoral base. The problem is that the quotes from the Bible and hymnals are too often either taken out of context or, worse yet, employed in ways quite different from their original meaning. For example, in the 2003 State of the Union, the president evoked an easily recognized and quite famous line from an old gospel hymn. Speaking of America's deepest problems, Bush said, "The need is great. Yet there's power, wonder-working power, in the goodness and idealism and faith of the American people." But that's not what the song is about. The hymn says there is "power, power, wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb" (emphasis added). The hymn is about the power of Christ in salvation, not the power of "the American people," or any people, or any country. Bush's citation was a complete misuse.

The Religious Affiliation of President Jimmy Carter

Carter is widely regarded as the first openly Born Again president, and perhaps the most Evangelical president in U.S. history. He is an active Sunday School teacher and has written inspirational Christian books.

    From the interview:

I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell.
I can’t imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity.
That’s just not part of my religious makeup.

Wow! He apparently doesn't believe God is a just God whose Word declares that many will be sent to everlasting fire.

Why are we holding a politician on a theological microscope? It was okay when President Bush said that "We all have different routes of getting to the Almighty," so why now hold Obama to a different standard?

I never held Bush on a pedestal.

Any man who says he is a Christian and running for office makes statements such as 'There are more than one way to heaven,' or 'God is not going to consign a hindu to hell' clearly does not need people agreeing with him that he is a Christian.

    Jonah Goldberg is a Propagandist/Ideologue

I notice that this is a blog by Jonah Goldberg and Ideologue so I think he has political motivation, I would take it with a grain of salt it is not journalism.

the blog is not going so well for Mr. Goldberg

If anyone has a "God complex' it's Jonah Goldberg.
It's a standard approach of fascism--pretend you are speaking for God when actually you are speaking for yourself--but have no real rational argument. THEN--bring on the distractions:
    --Hannibal Lecter
    --Jeremiah Wright
    --David Hasselhof
    --and of course: HIPPIES!

Andof course, what has become a standard technique of modern American fascists--call everybody else a fascist--after all most people have no idea what that means. Or why Goldberg & his buddies keep getting richer while screwing everybody else.

Jonah Goldberg demonstrates that he is still the same right wing hack he's always been.

Early in the article, he paints Obama as a scary black man who believes "facts are merely myths of the white power structure."

By the middle Jonah wonders if ..." only a black candidate can be post-racial, right?"

And then by the end of the article, Jonah spins all the way around and declares that it is Obama that is playing the race card.

Like so many hacks on the right, Jonah presents transparent attacks based on race, and then pretends to not be aware that he did so.

Standard right wing smear .... Just another attempt to paint Obama as the scary "other".

More on Goldberg from Wikipedia he is all over the map and does not get along with even his fellow right wingers.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonah_Goldberg

Relations with other writers, public figures
On the left, Goldberg has publicly feuded with Juan Cole over U.S. Iraq policy and Air America Radio commentators such as Janeane Garofalo. Garofalo has accused Goldberg of being a chickenhawk on the Iraq War. On February 8th, 2005 Goldberg offered Cole a wager of $1,000 "that Iraq won't have a civil war, that it will have a viable constitution, and that a majority of Iraqis and Americans will, in two years time, agree that the war was worth it." [15] Cole refused to accept and the wager was never actually made; [16] Goldberg later conceded that if Cole had accepted the bet, Goldberg would have lost it.[17]

Goldberg and The New Republic's Peter Beinart host a conservative vs. liberal web TV show called What's Your Problem?. [18]

Goldberg had a friendly but sometimes-contentious relationship with Andrew Sullivan that became increasingly acrimonious over ideological differences.

In October 2006, Goldberg wrote of Dick Morris, "I do not trust Dick Morris. Period." [19]

Goldberg and others at National Review Online (including Rich Lowry) broke with conservative writer Ann Coulter over statements she made about the September 11, 2001 attacks that they considered irresponsible. Coulter stopped writing for National Review Online after the publishing of her column on September 13, 2001, opining that "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." [20]

bottom line he is whats new after others crash and burn like Coulter and he is a right wing ideologue who is blinded by that, he is going to go after Barack Obama and paint as bad a picture as he can and thus feed to the choir who will buy his book and make him lots of money.

    More from the blog:
    Ben T wrote: 17h 34m ago
Goldberg sounds like a college freshman with an introductory text book on critical theory, ignorant of the his lack of knowledge on the subject, but self assured nonetheless.

It seems like the quality of USAToday's persistent Obama hit pieces is dropping.

Rocco Cuteri wrote: 17h 20m ago
Jonah Goldberg is a shallow, superficial tool. He's never had an original thought in his life. If the harridan weren't his mother, he'd be spending the balance of his time surfing porn sites single-handed. The single, irrelevant quote is taken completely out of context and inflated in an attempt to make it into something it isn't. Young Jonah has certainly not read the interview from which he lifted that single phrase. For real context, see below, which is far more representative of the tone of the interview:
    ------------------------

    GG:Who’s Jesus to you?

    (He laughs nervously)

    OBAMA:Right.
Jesus is an historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher.

And he’s also a wonderful teacher. I think it’s important for all of us, of whatever faith, to have teachers in the flesh and also teachers in history.

GG:Is Jesus someone who you feel you have a regular connection with now, a personal connection with in your life?

OBAMA:Yeah. Yes. I think some of the things I talked about earlier are addressed through, are channeled through my Christian faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Jonah Goldberg has found a Gold mine in Propaganda and running down others he in my opinion has ascended to the throne vacated by Ann Coulter.

We need more information. There are a number of ways this statement can be interpreted. If he is a Christian and is out of "outof alignment with my values" would that not be sin.

You as a Christian, if you are "out of alignment with your values" ... would that not be sin.

I grant you it is not a good definition, but it does not strike me as indicating a "God complex." I wish we had more of the quote and then we would have a better understanding of just what he meant. So, I see this as too little information to decide what he really meant. That is a big problem of single quotes, they can be interpreted so many ways.
