Am I the only one who did not know this? If so; why?

    Aluminum Foil....Who Knew?

Go to the kitchen and check this out for yourself. Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box?

We all use aluminum foil, which is great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, 'Press here to lock end.' Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place.

How long has this little locking tab been there?!?

I looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too.

Then I looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too!

I cannot count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

    Where have I been?!? :BangHead:

You forced me, I couldn't help myself. I had to go look.
My usual foil from save a lot, heavy duty, great foil, did not have it. The really bad foil from one of those everything $1 places had it. Who knew.

I gave up on dancing around the kitchen with tangled Saran wrap around my arms a long time ago. That might not have happened if I knew!

My Great Value foil from Wal Mart has a push-in tab on each end of the box. It doesn't say anywhere what these are for, but I'm assuming I know now!

Whew! I feel so much better knowing I wasn't the only one who didn't know. LOL

I pick up all the different kinds of boxes in the stores I go to just to look.

    I'm so excited! :)

Wow. I'm a man who almost never uses aluminum foil, but I knew about these tabs. That's funny!

Well they certainly don't tell you they are there and what they are for. This would be one of those odd trivia facts that not many people are aware of.

Not all packages have them, my regulars do not. No reason for me to have known then.

My aluminum, wax paper, and Saran Wrap have them. The wax paper and Saran Wrap are both generic, but they have them also.

I don't know if ALL boxes have them, but the ones I have do and you can bet I'll be buying boxes with them from now on so I don't jerk my bowl off of the table and get tangled up in Saran Wrap again! LOL

The other roll of foil I have that has it, is so flimy and cheap, it's no good for anything. My usualy is very good foil, and is as good a quality as reynolds heavy duty, and it's only 29 cents more then the no good waste of money stuff, and at least half as much as reynolds. It doesn't matter to me if it has the flaps or not, I'm not buying lower quality to get flaps. I've made it 44 yrs without them alright. now if I found some as good a quality as I use now, for about the same price I might buy the flaps.

I pulled off a sheet of the foil in the tabbed box to cover a plate of left over, have to actually use it for somethng. And the roll fell out of the box. I was disappointed because it had the tabs. Darn.

Reynolds heavy duty aluminum foil had them - they were not easy to push in though.

Reynolds wax paper did not. I went back and looked a second time since wax paper was specifically mentioned - they still weren't there ;)

Ok, I had to go look, and now both my plastic wrap and aluminum foil are (supposedly) locked in their respective boxes. If only I had known!! Last night, the roll of aluminum foil fell out of the box, and ripped the box, and so now it's really hard to get the foil to line up on the broken side to rip on the blade thingee. But maybe the locks will help? :D
