Was amazed at some of what I read over there on the Baptist Only Version of the Thread...

First, of all the test is heavily weighted by KJV-only exclusivists...

So, even if you are tricked into agreeing with them over CCM... You still won't be acceptable...

No, that is just a first step of many to bind you with legalism...

Then, they had to go and add Bob Larson to the mix... a TBNite? So, now we have both ends of the extreme...

Then there's the cook an egg with the music?

If there really was enough energy to cook an egg the youth would be in the hospital! Convulsing...

Then they throw in Back-Masking... Something which has never been actually scientifically proven. Not in a proper laboratory environment. And, not in real life...

In this regard they are no better than the evolutionists who seek out, find and tailor evidence to fit their preconcieved notions...

Now as to the issue of Petra borrowing some lines from a secular rock group...

Let's see that song only appeared on their first album... (Might have also been on a collection album)

It was one song of about a thousand over more than thirty years of Christian Concerts and hard hitting messages and actual altar calls...

And, while it ranks in Spiritual Import with "Lucas McGraw"... it is hardly indicative of what Petra *grew* to become.

As for demanding total separation from the world that is something they themselves can't do as they have to live and work in this life just as the rest of us...

But, I guess they have removed this verse from their coveted KJV?

1 Corinthians 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

The real teaching is "In the World" but "Not Of The World"...

Else we would not interact enough to win the lost!

1 Corinthians 7:31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

    The NIV is Clearer here:

1 Corinthians 7:31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

    Mike Sr.

Honestly, I really don't think it was very fair to take such pot shots at CCM and not allow all of us to take parts in any ensuing "discussion".

Crazy ain't it? Sometimes you gotta laugh or you might [IMG]
I'm glad I don't personally know people with those whacked out views.
I Praise and Worship God with different types of music and I know He is pleased. I love the Joy He gives me. \o/

Andre Crouch used to talk about the "First Church of the Fridgedaire"!

But, I think, while it was great for a laugh, it was a bit unfair to those that *can* worship God in a very somber service...

What is especially discouraging is that no matter how patiently we make or cases...

No matter how Faithful we are to God, the Church and Stewardship...

We continue to be disparaged as the lowest form of spiritual pariah if we even think that *some* CCM is acceptable...

Yet Paul seems to teach that those that are firmly convinced of their liberties in Christ are actually the stronger and more Spiritually Mature Believers...

If they admit to being the weaker ones we are required to be circumspect in our liberty least they be tempted to stumble and fall...

But, if they are only interested in bringing us into their own form of bondage to rules and regulations then they are no more than Judaizers...

As they cry loudly of their loftly positions and Spiritual Preeminence I am unfortunately inclined and constrained to think the latter.

    Mike Sr.
1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

And, that applies to all of us....

All I know is that I listen to the words of any Christan artist and if it lines up with the Word its ok. There is just some songs I don't like..... the words are good, but its the beat that ruins it. Its just my music preferance. I for one am glad we have a verity of Christian music to choose from or I'd be very depressed! [IMG]

I think all the way back to King David singing some of his praise songs... Do you think he strumed a few strings on the harp and then very slowly sang with a quivering voice? [IMG] The same David that danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod (2 Sam 6), I just don't see him sing all slow serious songs, not to say that some were serious like when his ememies were comming aginst him, but he praised God too didn't he? [IMG]

Then way later religion came along and whoa! the music got all reverent, solom, no dancing and no showing of the ankles. Then the 1800's song writers like Fanny Crosby along and then 1901 Issac Meridith and Flora Kirkland with this song... http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/l/e/blesseda.htm

Slowly but surly here we are today and we are still singing praises to the Lord, they are just up to date is all. [IMG]

I love you Lord, and I lift my voice.
To worship you oh my soul rejoice.
Take joy my King, in what you hear.
May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.

So you would all agree that there should be No standards at all in the church and in the church youth group?

This is where my arguement lies. even our private schools (can't say for the public and we all see the chaos there) and work places have standards.

I am not against CCM per say although some cross the line on what is christian and what isn't.

Our chruches should hold to a higher standard as NOT to offend Romans 14 is clear about this. let's not forget our christian testimony for Christ

Don't know who MG is, but Frenchy, you need to review the old thread to see where the attacks were coming from. I have never, nor have the others you were debating, made personal attacks your way. If you will not question people's salvation or call them swine this time, we will all do fine. Debate ideas, and refrain from ad hominems, and you have a basis for dialog.

Frenchy, stop with the attacks right now, or I will ask mods to close this as well. YOU called rbell a swine, YOU questioned people's salvation who disagreed with you and YOU continued to not respond with evidence to your assertions, but instead kept referring back to discredited websites that mods removed your links to. WHere do you say I have slandered you?

Again, where did I slander you?
Just like every other question, you don't answer, but continue to attack and throw out unsupported statements while acting in a very unchristianlike manner. After you were chastised by the mods in the other thread, I would not be very surprised if you are not headed toward suspension from the board.
