I posted this in another thread, but I want to put it here, so everyone will see it.

After praying, seeking, listening, God has convicted me about this whole "Bible version" thing.. I really don't want to continue "arguing". We all have out preference in Bibles. Are we not all brothers and sisters in Christ? Please, forgive me for ANY hurt, or anger I've caused over this. I DO NOT want to bicker over it any longer. When we get to Heaven, this will seem silly that we spent so much time disagreeing over basically NOTHING. God bless, and read whatever version of God's Word that helps you grow in Grace and Truth.

Thing is, not all will accept everyone else's "convictions". Can one prove the other wrong? Not as long as they follow SCRIPTURE, unlike those of the suicide bombers, kamikazes of the past, etc.

Shoot, I don't think there'll even be a KJV! Remember, God will give us a PURE language, & Jesus' words(the ones He wanted preserved, that is) will never pass away!

    I totally agree.

The real problem for many like me is when relatives do not even think the church I go to really uses a Bible.

This is a non issue yet it is made an issue by some.

I actually learn from multiple translations.

The two pastors at my church each use different versions, the older one uses the NIV, the younger uses the ESV.
I use the NASB at home.

You know what? I see the same Gospel in all, that the Gospel in the most important thing.

The NIV translation came out decades before the ESV, but since the latter is a lightly-modified 1971 RSV, its awkwardly worded English is actually decades behind the ESV. Ironic isn't it? The younger pastor is really using the more old-fashioned version. The older pastor is using more contemporary Bible English.

The "conviction" belonging to "A" may be nothing more that "the preferred opinion" of "B" which is only a "fair opinion" to "C" which is thought to be a poor opinion, and entirely rejected by "D".

Absent any Scripture, regarding this subject, from "A" to "D" this is still only an opinion, regardless of how strongly held by the first individual, or how much opposed by the fourth individual.

The problem, as I see it, comes from anyone attempting to make their opinion equal to 'Bible'.

    baptist4life,
    read it twice.
I know it does not make sense at first.
At first I said huh? too.
But it is an excellent point.

a "conviction" not based in scripture is just an opinion no matter how strongly you old to it.

    "Conviction" or "deluding oneself"?

There will be no such thing in heaven. The entire KJVO position which is based on nothing but error will vanish like fog in the sunshine in the presence of God's holy truth.

I see it the same way, B4L. I don't like to argue over piddly things. I will go toe-to-toe when someone starts up with something outside of what the bible says (only one translation is God's word and such), but that's about it.

Good thought, Trotter. I am against *ALL* man-made doctrines of worship, whether they come from some "almost-Christian" cult or are independently made by someone trying to horn them in to the body of TRUE, SCRIPTURAL doctrines. KJVO is JUST such a doc; therefore I am dead-set against it.
