No that GM and its employees are on welfare, will you support them or not?

Will not buy Government Motors ever again. Consumers have final say on this matter, in spite of what Obama thinks. Can you imagine government bureaucracy getting warranty work done?

Ford is now the nation's only privately owned car maker. They decided to tough it out. Mine American brand of Automobile will be a Ford. Americans are built Ford tough.

Buy Alabama made vehicles - Honda Odyssey, Pilot or Ridgeline, Hyundai Sonata or Santa Fe or the Mercedes M-Class, R-Class or GL-Class.

All these vehicles are manufactured in Alabama by Alabama Workers!

That depends: if the car is made by union labor, then yes. My last UAW-made GM lasted well over 186,000 miles
If they attempt to bust the union, then no.

I am a proud son of a UAW GM retiree. That self-same UAW GM retiree sees what the rest of us sees: the UAW, and GM's rush to bow to the UAW's every whim, helped do it in. That, along with a market saturation approach that was ill-advised to say the least for a late 20th century carmaker.

I have never owned anything but GM made cars, partially because of the extraordinarily lucrative discount I got as the family of a retiree. We'll see how good of a deal I get going forward. I am loyal to GM, but I do fear the intrusion of Big Brother. Hopefully, GM will emerge a strong private company.

BTW, I have heard from more than one union leader that Obama's money people are bent on breaking the back of the union. We'll see.

This will probably be the only thing that will save GM and the American auto industry. The union made its bed for the last four decades or more and now they have to live in it. Unfortunately, it is hurting a lot of people around here.

I will either by Japanese or Ford. I might even get rid of my chevy out of principle. Real gutless bunch of businessmen.

Value received for price paid is about all that drives me when I need to buy a car. I guess Adam Smith and his invisible hand are present in my thinking. So I have a Honda (8 years old) and a Hyundai (4 years old) and at my age (71) think I may never have to buy another car. But if I do I will explore the market for the type of car I want and will buy whatever gives me the best for the cheapest. No brand loyalty stuff for me.

As long as the government is in the auto business, I will not buy from any GM dealership.

Since we are now a 60% share holder of GM, we ought to impress on the government to constantly show us where our money is being invested. More importantly, if GM is able to show major sign of profitability, shouldn't we be entitled to what they receive? After all if we own 60% of GM........

The government will not care about GM profitability.

GM is merely a means to an end and Obama is going to use our tax dollars to get there. No matter what it costs.

    Not a chance.

The 2nd top objective of the Obama Administration in buying GM is to save the union.

A legal and normal bankruptcy would have busted the union.

What good is it to belong to a union when your plant is closed and you have no job? Looks like a union bust to me.

My UAW built truck had problems with windshield wipers, TEMPORARILY corrected by a recall. There was a problem with the clutch which was so common that they recognized it by my discreption on the phone. When I had transmission trouble, it was found that a bushing was left out during assembly. At about 85,000 the engine had to be rebuilt.

    I am not impressed.

Well, my Pontiac had over 186,000 miles (I think) when I traded it. The overwhelming majority of those miles were trouble free. The only issue I can remember was dropping a serpentine belt when the clutch on the AC compressor froze up. That happened at about 40,000 miles. Then it was fine all the way to the day I traded it.

Can't speak to your experience, but mine was tremendous.

    Regards,
    BiR

a couple of months ago I bought a Government Motors (GM) auto. One day the $22k I spent on a Chevy Malibu did not exist. The GM lender and I created the $22k of money out of nothing (how godlike!)

BAD! now I won't get the government tax discount &/or rebate for I did it too early. Maybe the government will let me skip a few payments and/or refinance for the tax discount, credit, &/or rebate?

Call your congressman and insist on a Premature Purchase Bailout. Who knows. It might be worth millions.

Is that a fact? How much of the offering at your church comes from union paychecks? Guess when that dries up, you will be hurting.

Get your facts straight about the relationship between union, management, and the market.
