OK - So hubby would LOVE to watch that race!! :D

We're home. It was a long but wonderful day and we're DONE!! I'm posting from bed where I will be snoozing in a few minutes. We came home from church/visiting in-laws around 6 pm and we watched It's a Wonderful Life with the fire in the fireplace. It was nice because my two little ones haven't seen the movie. We had an easy snacky dinner and just relaxed. I'm pooped!! LOL

Good night all! I'll 'see' you all tomorrow!

Will be wending home shortly to Wanganui...the hub of the universe and am looking forward to it.

I have had a great holiday and spent time with the brother whom I thought may not make it to Christmas as he was so ill. He has, praise the Lord and it was worth the trip for that alone. I have enjoyed the beautiful fecund sub tropics after the flooding rains of early 2011. The poinsettia, poinsianna, crepe myrtles, ivory curls, frangipanni and the Illawara flame tree in all their glory. Mum's garden awash with colour...her pelagoniums/geraniums, day lillies, caladiums etc.

I hope my garden is not dead, the potuhawakawa (NZ Christmas Tree) will probably be mostly spent but it will be good to be HOME:love2:.

Hope everyone has had a blessed Christmas with family and friends and looking forward to a wonderful New Year.:praying::godisgood:

Hi Melanie. It seems that you alone are holding the fort. Strange though that for over a month no one was looking in, washing the dishes, putting up a fresh put of coffee, and turning on & off the lights.

Glad you were able to see your dear brother, and get back safe to your home. Trust that since then his health has imroved, and you all are enjoying the New Year.

By the way, I put up a freash pot of coffee (both high octane and decaff). I also brought some apple turnover.... this is what we have lately in the house. There is a grocery store, Bi-Lo, in the neighborhood, where they make the best apple turnover, and I usually pick up two plastic containers twice a week. Lenke and I like to munch on them, in between meals, as they are not treated with additional sugar like other pastries. We have to watch our sweets you know.

Hope people will turn in to this place soon - at least as soon as they'll hear that we have fresh apple turnovers!!! Have a wonderful day you all in the Lord. :wavey:

    I LOVE apple turnovers!!

Sorry I haven't been visiting!! I admit - I'm a follower - I only remember to come in here when the door is open!!

I'm doing OK here. I was in a car accident 4 weeks ago and am still recovering from that. I was broadsided right in the driver's side door and if I wasn't still in decent physical condition, I would have had to be cut out of the car because that door was done. My 19 year old daughter was with me and we were both OK initially but starting that night, we started with the pain and have been dealing with it ever since. My daughter is finally back to work as a cashier at the grocery store but on limited duty so her hours are cut and while I never missed any work (because I work on computers), I'm done with horseback riding for a few months, which saddens me. But we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...I think!!!

Other than that, we're finding some difficulty in ministry and I can't post about it but I'd appreciate prayers for peace and guidance for our little church campus. We can really use it!!

    Thanks!

Lovely to hear from you Barnabas....apple turnovers are yummy. I am particularly fond of an apple strudel that is not as sweet as most bought pastries. Sadly, my wee town does not have the franchise shop where I buy the strudel.

Ann, how perfectly dreadful. I am pleased you both are not worse than stated, but your nerves must be jangled on top of everything else. You seem to be having some testing times, you are in my prayers.

I am cross with myself as I am missing a Mission at the church as it is so crowded with folk and my wretched nerves are atwitching....These are not frequent nor regular and so I am saddened to miss it. I don't know what you would call missions, but it is always a wakeup call for the tepid...

It finally got to freezing temps this morning out here. This entire winter has been relatively warm, which I don't much mind this year!

Speaking of sweets, been having fun experimenting with frosting cupcakes to look pretty. Last night I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate filling, then topped them with cream cheese frosting. First time trying to fill them pastry-bag style and it worked out nice.

Our state is working on a law that would allow those who sell baked goods to not have to have an expensive commercial kitchen, provided they sell under $50 K a year, so if that passes, I'll be a happy mamma! I'll be able to sell! WOOHOO!

Ah Gina, I can almost smell the baking. We have the nonsensical commercial kitchen rule as well. I was surprised to see all our eateries must by law display their category of inspection. "A" is first class down to about a "C". The "C" classification does not denote a runaway from the food place but it has old and worn kitchen stuff.

A day of rain here, Bob came over this morning to gift me a string of butterfly pupae which is now in my conservatory....I should have butterflies any day soon....what a pretty thought and sweet gift. He is our local butterfly farmer.

So sorry Ann that you and your daughter had a vehicle accident. Thank God you are not badly hurt, and are on the mend. Our prayers are with you folks in the matter of your church. I hope you know that you folks are doing a good work for the Lord..... for why would Satan try to disrupt the peace?! Continue doing what the Lord has entrusted you with, and remember that He is with you through this all.

Melanie, I like apple strudle also. My wife has a dear friend in Chicago who can bake that to perfection!!! Oh boy, it is NOT BAD. ;)

Gina, if you'll turn pro in baking, hope you will supply all the pastries for the CGCH. :saint:

Mmm, pastries! I used to make them years ago for the dessert bar for two restaurants, don't know if I remember much though! Some of them can be a little tricky. I may just have to start practicing again. Thanks for the excuse.

It's March, yet it was 77 degrees outside yesterday. I'm not complaining. I finally caught onto Oklahoma weather and planted some seeds a few days ago. I'm pretty sure there's no danger of freezing temps again now!

My second oldest is turning sixteen. We're trying to figure out where we can go to have a paint throwing party. The type where everyone wears white and gets paint balloons thrown at them or otherwise splattered. Would you believe we're having a hard time figuring that one out? :D We don't do much on birthdays, but sweet sixteens are special around here!

Got the wobbles last evening....a frightening earth tremour which rattled me around 2000hrs last evening. Checking the www.geonet.co.nz it looks as if the north island is getting rattled a bit. Heck I don't like it one little bit.

Went to the Coromandel pennisula last weekend as an American girl who is soon to go home to Kansas and had not seen the Hot Water Beach or even Mt Ruhapahu. So we missed the weather bomb (I kid you not!) that dumped on Wanganui and caused power outages and lots of tree damage...including one of mine...a fruit tree broke in half as the gale walloped in at about 120 kph.

The girls and I had a ball...2 Americans and 2 Aussies in New Zealand. I love this country even though it does wobble too much for my taste.

I'm definitely not one for the wobbles!!!

Things are relatively quiet around here. Had some work done on the kitchen which turned out great. Now to pick out a color to paint!! Hmmmm......

Hubby and I are off to dinner out tonight. I hope they have something good like prime rib!! I could use me some good red meat!

Oh what fun Ann.....I adore picking colours and all that. I wish I could reconstruct my MAN made kitchen....it is incredibly user unfriendly...built by a bloke who has domestic blindness I think.

So what is it to be Ann.....pink with orange lightning stripes or a earthy hue?:tongue3:

ROTFL!! I'm thinking a little pink with some frills around the ceiling. ;)

Here are older pictures of the kitchen with the old wallpaper which is now gone as is the light fixture. But it shows the cabinets and the countertops. The cabinets are maple, the countertops are a black granite and the backsplash is white wainscotting.

I trust all have had a joyful and holy Easter. Trotted of to the extremely long pre Easter liturgies....the maundy, the liturgy of the Passion of Our Lord on Good Friday, and to Easter Vigil culminating in the magnificence of the Ressurection.

Into bed at 0200hrs then off to friends for a festive Easter meal with kiddies bouncing off the walls at lunchtime.

I hope you have had a wonderful feast day with your family and friends.

Hey Melanie. So, you were holding up the Common Ground Coffee House while the rest of the folks are on Spring Break??? ;-)

Sorry for my long absence. We had some Spring this year. On March 3rd, at 2:00 AM, a tornado devastated the area where our younger daughter and family live. The twister demolished an area of 7 miles long and 2 miles wide. We live 3 miles from ground zero.

Although the wind snapped huge trees, like tooth picks, took all the 7’ tall decorative wooden fence into the next county, took a good portion out of the roof, demolished the living room window, the sliding glass door to the patio, the air-condition system….. but everybody in their respective bedrooms was safe – as if in the hands of our precious Lord!!! Lenke and I in our evening devotions always pray for our children and grandchildren, and we heard about the storm coming up and heard about the possibility of tornado…. But the weather forecasting was 50/50 so we did not pay much attention to it. Nevertheless we prayed for our loved one’s safety and when our daughter called us up at 2:15 AM and told us what happened, but also told us that they were safe, we praised the Lord for keeping them – for He is our shelter in the time of storm!

From day one we were involved with the insurance report / claim, as we hold the mortgage on their house. We had to fight with the adjusters, claim coordinators, and bank officials (due to the mortgage) as they also hold interest in the repair process and held up the moneys the insurance finally issued. We are finally approaching the completion of all repairs.

Then on March 28th at around 9:00 PM I had an automobile accident. Our 2009 KIA Optima deluxe was totaled. I had three of my ribs fractured / broke, and ever since I am recovering. Those people who had a fractured rib can sympathize with me, for it was very painful the first three weeks. The doctor told me in the ER (after they took am X-Ray and CT Scan) that the breaks were clear and need no surgery, but the healing will take a long time. The pain factor will also diminish after 5-6 weeks. The first 2 weeks I slept in Lenke’s motorized recliner chair – for I was not able to move without pain. Finally I can sleep in my own bed, however, I need 4 thick floppy pillows to prop myself up and be able to get up, in the middle of the night, without much pain. The other motorist did not have his head-lights on, so when I was trying to turn in to a street I did not see him coming. Fortunately there was another driver, who was waiting his turn to get out of the same street I was going to, and has seen the accident. He came to me and said “That man did not have his headlight on.” I asked him to tell the same to the arriving Police officers. The blessing of this was that our daughter, who lives in New York City, came down and insisted that we accept 5K from her (which she withdrew from her retirement fund), because she wanted to help us in obtaining another vehicle. The insurance totaled our car, leaving us with nothing, and we even had to call the GAP Insurance to pick up the payment to the bank, which Allstate Insurance was not willing (because of depreciation of the vehicle). So we were fortunate to secure a 2012 Hyundai Sonata GLS, which we lease for 4 years, with the option to buy at the end of the contract year (unless we decide to rent another vehicle in 2016). For the other vehicle we paid $379.15 a month, and for the new can we pay $251.00 because of the 3K down-payment. Lenke and I can’t stop giving thanks to the Lord for “interrupting” our lives in this fashion, and for His saving grace!!! I still have a lot of pain, but am getting better by each day. Just wanted to look in to our friendly CGCH.

We were glad to hear that Sue Weindorf has a pacemaker installed and is doing marvelous! I am sure she will be back here soon.

Well, I do not know when and how often I will be able to look in here and spend some time with you folks, but until I will be able to do so, may the good Lord richly bless you and keep you in the hollow of His hands! Love in Christ, Barnabas
