When I think of love, I think of the touchy feely feeling you get when you think about someone that you really care about. Jesus said love your neighbor as yourself? What about strangers? What about people that have hurt you? Is it necessary? What are your views?

If you're interested, you can read an article about love, but I just want your opinions about it. Go to Love Article now to read the article, and please let me know your thoughts.

Love is a very difficult subject, and one I've always had a hard time with.

    Thanks.

Love is not a touchy feeling. It is a choice resulting in an action. Love is when you shovel snow off your neighbors driveway or rake his lawn. Love is when you stop to help somebody change a tire or feed a homeless person.

    DeeJay [IMG] Excellent Post...

    Love is Commitment

    Love is Sacrificial

    Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Touchy Feely is 'nice' and really helps where, 'in Marriage the Bed is undefiled'...

But, as any (honest) married couple will admit there are times when you just don't feel 'In Love'...

There are times when your spouse just isn't able to compromise and your commitment to love them requires that you be the one to compromise...

If all you have is the Touchy Feely...

You have nothing more that a foggy vapor that will be quickly dissipated in the sunlight of day.

And, BTW, LOve is also a Divine Command...

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Our culture has polluted the word love with sex. IMHO, real love is a decision. When scripture says love, it almost always means a decision and a committment.

Love is decision/committment. Lust is a feeling. Lust is not necessarily bad. It is like money; It is what we do with it that is good or bad.

I know some will not like this, but I decided to love my wife before we got married. I did not fall in love, I made a decision. Now if I didn't lust after my wife, that would have been a dumb decision. There is nothing wrong with a controlled lust (feelings only) in preparation for marriage.

    Is this a Current Event?

The trouble is that "love" does not have one single absolute definition but covers quite a variety of feelings and actions.

Exactly right, Daisy. We use the one word to describe everything from erotic love to love of parents, siblings, friends, and ... here's our word of the day ... philoprogenitiveness, the love of parents for their children. A bit of a deficiency in the English language.

Love is such a small word for such a broad term. I love my husband in a different way than my children. Yet, I love some of my co-workers and friends. There are so many facets and faces to the word "love"......it's not just the fuzzy feeling attached to the word. Love encompasses helping neighbors, the elderly....I could go on and on....
Love is a great "thing" and it covers soooo many feelings and things that we do. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
