My point is this, you implied that those who don't read PP are in compromise and those who read it are consecrated. That is setting human standards on what is and is not spiritual. I know MANY godly Christians who have never read PP.

I could make the same arguements for a book called "The Vallley of Vision." It has had a tremendous impact on my life spiritually. Yet, I would not say that one must read it to be consecrated and leave Haran.

If I could only have my Bible and one other book, it would be PP, though I would hate leaving behind my copy of "Valley of Vision" with a passion and would probabky try to sneak it with me.

At the moment, I'm seriously considering rereading PP after I have finished with Mallory's magnum opus.
I've just reached the spot where that French lout Lancelot saves queen Guinevere from being burned at the stake for adultery.
So I'm close to the end.

And Roger (C4K ) is right, there are plenty of books that can do wonders for the spiritual life of many people ('The Imitation of Christ' to name yet a 3rd example), but having read them is not some sort of mandatory requirement that must be met to grow in the Lord.

Sorry, procyon, I was busy checking the movie schedule to see when I could catch it again before it leaves the big screen for DVD sales.

My wife and my pastor and his wife are wanting to go.

 

There are several here who have joined in the unreserved praise of Pilgrims Progress procyon. I for one read it every year, teach it to my children, use it in sermon illustrations, have been trying to get a discussion board started, and am preparing a years devotions based in it.

I am hopeful that the group of those who benefit from the book is not as small as some contend.

 

Faithful - no doubt. Heh may even be my favourite character of all.

 

My wife got me a large ventage looking, Pilgrims Progress for Christmas. The back cover states that it is the most published book in history, next to the Bible.
