    I like the open-mindedness of most Baptists...;)

    Actually...I like several things:

    1) Authority of Scripture is central and not lip service
    2) Autonomy of the local church
    3) Two ordinances celebrated
    4) Belivers baptism by immersion
    5) Gospel centered ministry

    There are plenty of others but these are the most significant. Great topic for a thread!

    Don't sweat it, brother. We all get a little heated here at times and have to apologize. There have been times when I've regretted my harshness here and had to eat my words. (Pun not intended!) I have learned to respect the posters here who are willing to apologize when the need arises. Nobody's perfect.

    My earlier post didn't answer the OP's question so here goes:

    • The Baptist commitment to Biblical Orthodoxy and the sufficiency of Scripture.
    • Baptists know and acknowledge that we are sinners and totally dependent on the Blood of Christ and God's Grace for salvation.
    • We are taught to search the Scripture for ourselves and are not expected to blindly follow whatever the Pastor says from the pulpit.
    • Priesthood of the believer.

    Sister, you are much more kind, and tactfull, than I would have been if I felt that my wife, as an example, or sister, etc were to have recieved a percieved insult because of being overweight.

    And I am very pleased to see that apologies have been given, and accepted.

    Praise the Lord.

    Other things I like about being Baptist:
    Baptist Board
    Baptists are very missions-minded, both globally and locally
    We are encouraged to search the scriptures instead of just believing everything we hear.
