Where does the Bible ever say that the role of the Church is to expand people's musical tastes and entertain goats?

Where does the Bible say anything about singing mid 1900 era piano and organ music?

Rather than resorting to your usual childish insults and personal attacks, how about answering a question like a big boy?

The Bible mentions corporate worship through music in several places. It does not specify how that is to be done, which is why I never argued that it does.

I'm afraid you're going to have to take this up with some of your little playmates, since I've never made any of these arguments.

Where does it say one style should have preference over another? Where does it say that a church should split, when music styles differ? Where is the abandoning of self for the sake of the Gospel, which the Bible DOES command, in a congregations exclusion of other tastes, styles, etc.? Is not a person that demands only their own type of music be played, making church about THEM, instead of Christ?

Let's try this again. I never said that was the church's role. It's just that I think that having a blended form of worship is better. For example, instead of doing praise choruses with a rock band, you can do them with more instrumentation.

There are some things, like organ music, that most people won't be exposed to except at church. That's a shame because it's so pretty. There's also a lot of very pretty contemporary music for choir and orchestra. Here's one that my church did: http://www.fbcjax.tv/worship/march-13-2011-morning-service It's the first song in the service. It's a nice song that was picked out by our 71-year old minister of music.

Wow... much of this is so NOT what I was expecting. Thanks to those who have taken the original post seriously, and also not engaged in name-calling. I'm done if the mods want to close this down.

Name calling and snide remarks are never welcome in any section, and debate sections are not excluded. People, please come into these discussions with a loving heart for other Christians - Sometimes your valid points will sting in a debate, but the name calling and wise cracks are unnecessary weaponry that serve no legitimate purpose except to satisfy your individual hot temper and/or angry ego.

Aside from that......directed to whoever fits in the shoe....

If you still want this thread shut down, let the section moderators know.

Might be a good idea at this point.
