"Special" Places you've Visited

One place is a beach in Southern California North of Dana Point, South of Long beach, where I sat on the rocks in the water with my wannabe man, waves beating against the rocks, waiting, watching, ust beig quiet.

 

Do you see a freakin' ring on my finger! NO! Did you see WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT on the BB Announcement section?

Baby, you would be the first to know if I had a rock on my hand.

 

That was back in April, by the way.

 

I used to do a fair bit of travelling visiting a number of countries but the most amazing place I have ever seen is almost on my doorstep (that is if you can count a 2 day trip to get there "doorstep"!!).

This is the Bungle Bungle Range in Purnululu National Park in far noth of Western Australia - it really is gods' earth as it was meant to be.

Until the mid-1980s even few Australian had heard of it. If you want to visit though you need to be a bit of an adventure camper as it is only accessible in certain months of the year and you have to carry in all your food and water with you (no McDonalds around here!). Although they do have plane/helicopter trips for tourists as well.

I live in a special place. My country, singapore, is the southern most tip of the entire asian continent. Isn't that awesome?

There's a place you can go to called Sentosa which is the southern most point of Singapore which is the southern most point of the asian continent. And there's a sign there that marks the spot.

 

Eating crepes on the Seine in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

 

St. Thomas Island...a special seafood restaurant that was a covered outdoor tropical oasis...the gentle waves came inches away from us as we ate succulent shrimp,grilled steak,and lobster.

This was about 15 years ago on our honeymoon!

I love Banff, in Alberta, Canada. It can be so crowded in the summer, but I went to the top of a mountain, and found it so peaceful and awesome.

There's a place called Rivier de Loup in Canada that I visited as a young teen, and would love to visit again some day. It was like a French village.

I also fell in love with the desert mountain tops in Nagezi, New Mexico.

But my very favorite place is Wisconsin. I miss the fields, the woods, the bluffs, the air.

All of my travels outside of the US were sponsored by the US Navy.

Our ship was the newly commissioned USS Yellowstone and the champaign bottle had just been broken on her keel. We watched the band play on the pier as the words "underway" came over the 1MC. Our first mission was to sail her from California to Virgina.

Tijuana was the first stop outside of the US. We were warned not to drink the water. I only remember the crowded nature of the city. Acapulco was next. It was there the Chaplain of the ship baptized me in Acapulco bay. I remember also finding a far away place in Mexico, where folks cooked fish on an outdoor grill, gave us bottled Pepsi and we finished up by laying in hammocks by the beach.

I remember going through the Panama Canal. The Canal was awesome enough with trains pulling the ship through the locks, then to our surprise the Captain let us go ashore. It was there I found some Christians that gave us a guided tour of the place.

Of course, we hit many of the Islands after the Canal on our way to our home port of Norfolk. What a wonderful time it all was.

There are countless images in my head of the many places we went on this first cruise. Some are like a dream because the cruise was long but fast and we stopped many places.

On another cruise, we anchored outside of Scappaflow (sp?) Scotland and took boats ashore, exchanged our money and just walked around enjoying the rolling hills.

I was pulling mess duty (long hours) when we pulled into LaHarve France. I didn't have time to go to Paris. We were warned about how dangerous LaHarve could be.

Guantanamo bay Cuba was the most dreaded of all places for Navy folks. We were severely warned about the land mines just outside the fences. Nevertheless, I had some of my best times there. I found a group of Christians that met frequently and we would have bible study and fellowship with them. So there we were in dreaded GITMO and we had friends and good times.

asian country has this exotic and different atmosphere compare to other countries...

 

Several times I raced bicycles on the velodrome in Vancouver, B.C. I found the people especially hospitable to those of us from the US. I always liked travelling around the city to Quesn Elizabeth Park and Stanley Park. It is one of my favorite cities.

 

2 best places for me have been

Norfolk Island, it is so green and pretty, so unlike Australias concept of green...

Napier, North Island EnZed. The Art Deco capital of the world.It is a delightful seaside town which suffered an earthquake in the 1930s, fire and a tidal wave, so the place was rebuilt in the architecture of the day. Amazingly, little has been destroyed and it is now becoming a popular place for the art deco nut, such as myself

 

For me, the most-beautiful and awesome sight I've ever seen is the Grand Canyon. No picture captures it's majesty. The first time I saw it was at sunrise, which is the best time to see it. I would also recommend not going in the summer, as it is too crowded. Try the spring or fall.

Other beautiful sights would include Yellowstone Park (most especially Yellowstone Lake), and the drive over the Beartooth into Red Lodge, Montana. Awesome!, perhaps also Pine Mountain State Park in SE Kentucky, and of course, Yosemite Valley here in California.

Course, here where I am, in the eastern Sierra's, it ain't too bad either!

Below is just a tad bit of few places I have been on God's Earth..

I've taken Ship Curises to Mexico three times, one in Hawaii.. I've been through the Panama Canal , I flew from SF to Florida got on a ship there and then off to Jamaica then unto Costa Rica ..

Flying from San Francisco to Hawaii ..After a week in Hawaii, I flew to Tahiti spent two and one half weeks on most all of the Islands in Tahiti.

My Wish someday is to go too Norway then to Denmark, I want to find my relatives in both Countries. Someday hopefully Europe to travel there.. I've been to many parts of the United States of America.. However, I would love to go too Alaska someday.. For now since my disability keeps me indoors all the time. Plus SSA (Social Security Administration) turned me down twice so far for my SSDI, I am moneyless.. So I surf on the World Wide Web for now from my computer....

I've been to most all over the United States of America.

Anybody here ever been to the Philippines ? Try the chocolate hills in Central Philippines, in Bohol province. Or, you can stay overnight at one of the cottages in Northern Philippines' Mountain Provinces and view the Banaue Rice Terraces. Or, for the adventurous, how about a trek up to the summit of a perfect cone volcano like Mayon Volcano.

 

I'd like to go to the Phillipines someday.
