    heard this moring that Wycliff bible translators, along with 2 other translator group, will be making new bible editions that delete references to god as father/Son, or jesus as His Son, in order to avoid troubles with angry Muslims!

    Good idea or bad?

    More research is needed. I would advice contacting Wycliffe before continuing to post this. They have a full explanation of this story.

    Correct--usually these are the typical stories like a certain major burger outlet uses embalming fluid in their special sauce.

    Just to add some reality, here is the Mission Statement From their Website (fair copyright usage applies)
    ========================================================
    Vision 2025

    In 1999, translation projects started at a pace of about one every 18 days. At that rate it would have taken until 2150 before the last translation project was even begun. Wycliffe leaders challenged the Body of Christ to accelerate the pace. Vision 2025 was born. The goal? To see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by the year 2025. The ultimate goal—God’s Word accessible to all people, so that everyone has an opportunity to have an intimate and life changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
    ===================================================
    The above from Wycliffe.org

    Please note the last two words.

    Here is part of a reply to a friend from his inquiry to Wycliffe

    Lets be careful about jumping on media bandwagons, especially when it involves our brothers and sisters in Christ.

    they have said that it was for the purpose to publish "muslim" friendly versions, as they will replace all refernces to god as being the father with either Allah or God, and references to jesus being Son of God with messiah...

    It wouldn't matter if someone made such a version. The Gospel saves, and it is about the Son of God, His death, burial and resurrection.

    Some people will do anything, Brother, to attempt to smear the Word of God.

    Also curious how it spread like wildfire in Christian circles without any one checking with Wycliffe and just jumping on the attack.

    They need to check their stories and not be so quick on the attack.

    The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. Proverbs 14:15?

    Christians love a good Bible version scandal. Especially one with incorrect facts and lots of handwringing about "changing the word of God".

    I can hear it now -

    "Help us fight to save the Bible from this wild group of God hating liberals who want to take your Bibles and make you worship a monkey. Send your tax deductible donation to...."

    What a load of horse manure! Anyone who knew anything about Wycliffe would know they do wonderful work in some awful places while remaining faithful as they do it. Come on people grow up and quit freaking out about everything!
