In a very general sense if one believes in a single Supreme Being, then in a general sense we can say that everyone who believes in a Supreme Being believes in the "same God". However, only God as described in the Bible is the true, one, and only living God. Others believe in a Supreme Being that is very inaccurate in their understanding of Him - far more inaccurate than the Christian understanding of the true God.

For the record, I don't agree with the author's interpretation of the books of Daniel and Revelation. He also misspelled Condoleezza Rice's name.

Bush is wrong and is a theological heretic. We do not all worship the same God. I am glad he is not my pastor. He is a good secular leader, though.

No, and Bush is wrong but I understand that he can't offend the Islamic nations. I would refer folks to the following episode as recorded in Scripture:

    2 Kings 5:17-19
17 And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.
19 And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.

Good post OR. I agree, the President is on a tightrope. If he answered the way the reporter probably wanted, there would have been a firestorm of heat on him. Not the least of which would have come from our own leftists, socialists in congress.

Little by little our President have led his followers astray. the Bible states very clearly that you cannot be lukewarm in your belief of the true God. Their is only one true God, those who profess allah (the Muslim god) and God are the same want to be lukewarm on this issue but are in danger of being spewed out because of their non-belief.

Rapture Ready espouses a limited view of the rapture. Its webmaster likely wouldn't like me very much for challenging its "the rapture is happenning in the very near future" position.

As far as the topic at hand, I agree with Ken, who said "In a very general sense if one believes in a single Supreme Being, then in a general sense we can say that everyone who believes in a Supreme Being believes in the 'same God'."

That does not of course, mean that all who worship the same God worship him correctly or truly. I can accept the idea that Christians, Muslims, and Jews worship the same God. However, Jews and Muslims worship God falsely, to at least some extent. Only God as described in Scripture (OT/NT) is the one, true, living God, and those with a different view of God believe in a Supreme Being that is very inaccurate in their understanding of Him.

There is only one God, says St Paul. Some get his name wrong.

GW ran as a Christian conservative and he is neither. It's interesting how you allways want to blame "the liberals" for everything that's wrong. There was a guy in Germany who did the same thing except he blamed a different group.

"Allah" is the Arabic name for God. "God" is a generic name. "Allah" is the name for Abraham's god.

Buddha and Mohammed are never claimed to be gods. Both were real, live humans.

As Billwald suggests, in a historical sense Muslims do point to the same God as Christians and Jews. The God of Abraham... but they don't view nor worship Him properly.

A similar idea would apply to the Catholic conception of God though not as extreme. Both have built a God that is unapproachable... though Catholicism supplies saints and Mary to intercede.

    Scott,

In a historical sense Muslims did point to the same God as Christians and Jews. The God of Abraham. They don't, however, today. They have turned their backs on the One true God and now worship their own man-made false gods.

I don't disagree Joseph. I was just making the point that it can be said historically that they worship the same God but not theologically... if that makes any sense.

They point back to the God Abraham worshipped. They however pervert Him from that point forward.

    Scott,

If you were to add one word to your second sentence, I would be in full agreement with you.

    It should read:

Historically, they did (past tense) worship the same God. Currently, they do not worship the same God. They worship a perverted, man-made false god in the image of the one true God.

    Posted on another thread.

A question: Who is the God of the Muslims, who is the God of all the earth? Let Scripture speak:

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Deuteronomy 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

2 Chronicles 20:6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

It is true that the Muslims, the Jews, and all those who are not Christians falsely attempt to worship God. That does not alter the fact that there is One God and He is God of all the universe.
