One thing I wonder about is why they would engage in such an "in your face" tactic with Christians. There are certainly other qualified actors...

Why purposefully choose someone whose blatant and flaunted immorality would be an affront not only to the primary prospective audience but also to the subjects of the film?

    Scott and Lady Eagle,

Amen! I am quite sure that if the Brady Bunch were supposed to be a christian show and our parents found out while it was showing that they hired Robert Reed, to play the part, and he professed to be a homosexual during that time... most parents would have turned the TV off and forbad the kids to watch it.

Times have changed so drastically. Evil is portrayed as good, and good evil. Keep looking up true Christians... your redemption draweth nigh.

We pay for programming by patronizing the advertizers. I also pay extra for expanded cable service to get Nickelodeon and TV Land, the cable stations that broadcast TBB.

Now, as far as "paying", your own red herring falls short if one says "I'll wait to watch it comes out on cable".

Who among us in the last 15 years has not known that Robert Reed was gay? I've most definitely seen TBB with that knowlege.

I can think of quite a few sermons I've heard that referenced a Brady Bunch episode. But this movie isn't a "Christian" movie (still trying to figure out what a "Christian" movie is). It's a story about the true events of christian missionaries.

Remember the movie "Jesus" (now distributed by the Jesus Film Project)? Several of the people starring in that film, or associated with it, promoted gay causes, were fornicators or adulterors, etc.

Remember the film "Jesus of Nazareth", which, imo, is an excellent masterpiece? No shortage of sinners in those credits either.

Sounds so far like the same argument KJVOists make for condemning non-KJV translations, even though old King James wasn't exactly sinless.
Not really. Just pointing out how easy it is for the brethren to fall into the trap of being pharisees.

In a parable, Jesus praised the heathen Samaritan, even though he likely continued his heathen ways after his good deed. Here, however, we're to condemn the "samaritan" because of heathen activities that have absolutely nothing to with the deed in question.

Look, if you don't want to go see it for the reasons mentioned, that's perfectly fine, and I support you. However, if anyone who so refrains goes on to accuse a christian brother of unrighteousness becuase they decide to see the film, then they themselves are as pharisees who need to be called for their unrighteous judging.

John, This guy isn't a private person that sins. He is someone who openly flaunts his sin, claims it as a lifestyle, and promotes that lifestyle.

This really isn't a gray issue for me. God has blessed me with stewardship over his resources. If I didn't "know" about this guy then per 1 Cor 10... I wouldn't ask what idol he was sacrificing to. However, he has made this an issue. I must abstain from things that are knowingly, purposefully attached to evil.

I agree. This is sad, and unfortunate. However, I base films what I see on whether they're quality films or not. This appears to be a quality film, so I have decided that I will go see it. I myself do not look to the film industry for the Gospel (though there is no shortage of people who do indeed look to the media for the spiritual and base their views thereby), and do not expect this film to have any impact whatsoever on my personal relationship with God.
Then don't go see it. I support your conviction 100%, and applaud you for it. However, I would hope you permit me the same liberty I permit you, and not think less of me if I choose to see it.

Then I take it that you don't watch TV at all? Or watch any movies.. How about read a magazines?

You do know that those people in the TV shows, movies and magazines are sinners right? And in Knowing that you wouldn't want to support their cause right.

    Did I mention the Radio?

You see, ANYTHING can be skewed into anything you want it to be.

Sin can always be SKEWED and excused to merit support of it by those who desire to support it.

Jude[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
[8] Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh,
despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

    JamieinNH,

Linda and I watch very little Television. Usually just listen to the weather broadcast if there is a bad storm in the area.

The radio is never on in our household, and magazines are limited to Godly magazines. We do not purposely fill our minds with trash that the media puts out.

I think there is a phrase for that, Holier-than-Thou comes to mind.

If standing for and adhering to the Word of God means Holier-Than-Thou, then count me in.

I will not back down from what the Lord has convicted my heart of.

If it was sin 2000 - 4000 years ago, it is still sin today. If we are to buddy up to the worldly values and standards, then God has to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah and anyone he destroyed because of their sins. Also, God would have to apologize to Noah, Abraham, Isaac, the Prophets, the Apostles, and to anyone else who preached God's principles and standards that He set forth for the child of God to follow.

standingfirminChrist and LadyEagle, no one is saying it isn't sin. People are saying if you avoid everything that a sinner is involved in, you're going to have to go live in a cave (or at least join the Amish).

No, that is not true. We are in the world, but not to be of the world. We choose to separate from it because God's Word tells us to do so.

You know, if those that claimed to be of God would put their foot down and say 'this boat don't float', things would not be as bad as they are today.

It was a minority that took prayer out of the schools, because the majority would not take a stand.

It was a minority that took the 10 Commandments out of public buildings because the majority would not stand.

My Bible tells me that the child of God is not to retreat, nor to cower in fear, but 'having done all, stand.'

    What does your Bible say?

But this is NOT just a sinner.

This is someone who openly and actively SUPPORTS this sin and is hoping that our minds will be open.

Sounds like it is working with some.

Mine says Jesus ate with publicans and sinners, while not supporting their sin. The Pharisees spoke against him for this.

We (at least I) am not talking about going to see a movie with your typical run of the mill people who sin in it. This is absolutely different.

If there were an actor, whom you found out molested children in his life, could you still support him for his quality film, or do you think there might just be something wrong with that?

Obviously, you have your right to make your own judgement call. Im not going to condemn you. Its just that I honestly for the life of me cannot understand how your judgement call can be in favor of supporting this film. Im just a little shocked is all. It seems like a no-brainer.

If that makes me sound holier than thou, so be it. I personally am not condemming anyone. I just dont get it.

I would gladly eat with him and not support his sin. Going to see his movie and giving him money IS SUPPORTING HIS SIN

Emily25069, I am not supporting this film. But I'm not avoiding it just because it has a gay actor, or else I'll have to stop driving my car because a gay welder worked on it, I'll have to stop shopping for groceries at my local store because it has a gay clerk, I'll have to stop attending my church because a gay man might be there, and I'll have to stop getting together with my family because I have a gay relative.

    Or...we could follow Christ's example.

How many of you have actually prayed for Chad Allen?
