Yes, I think it takes away from her beauty. That is only an opinion.

No, it is not Biblically wrong. The Pharisee crowd that flaps their jaws about tattoos, movies, dancing, smoking, moderate drinking, TV, gambling etc, never has the time to tell others about the Gospel. Their jaws will flap from here to eternity. Wish we could harness some of that energy.

Then report the post Scarlett. It's as innocent as a toe hanging out of a pair of flip flops. I don't think you're gonna get too many red faces from you describing tight little Sunday blue jeans.

As to RD2's reaction, he's welcome to feel the way that he does. He's no doubt shocked at the continued penchant of women to push the envelope when it comes to those things that are taboo.

Miss America is supposed to be about class and scholarship and encouraging women. Try as they might, the more they try to encourage this new era of strong, independent women who can still be sexy, it seems to be more exploitive and degrading to an age of class long gone.

I thought the best idea was to say something to you. I shan't be reporting any posts.

Ah ... you misunderstood. It wasn't going to be the blue jeans that I would graphically describing in the hypothetical post about the reality of men who wear tight pants to church.

    I'm finished.

    Back to RD2's OP.

If you call that "graphic," you've led a very sheltered life.

I don't even know that it's an issue of sheltered. But more of a "how would you have me describe" the swimsuit competition? The one I gave is about as tame as you can get.

But alas, I still think the swimsuits are a far more disgusting display than the tattoo. The stuff looks like skimpy, underwear that should only be shared between a wife and her husband.

Have they ever considered taking out the swimsuit portion of the competition?

I think they did at one time, and then abruptly went 180 degrees the other direction and okayed bikinis rather than the old one-piece suits they used to have the contestants wear.

With all due respect folks.....trimming your beard is not the same as cutting your body. Paul put a end to the hair ordeal anyhow when he said it was Shamefull for a man to have long hair. If its Shamefull to for a man to have long hair why wouldn't it be wrong to cut and disfigure his temple???

I have a lot of scars on my arms I'm thinking of covering up with a full sleeve on each arm. Shoulder to wrist.

It is a Matter of Opinion...

...and in my case, my opinion is that beauty contests speak of beauty, purity and innocence. Like Zaac said, it is long gone!

I am shocked in that nothing seems to matter today! So what if it is a military tat....I do not think those running for Miss America needs to be sporting ink!

That is my opinion. I'd tell her to her face. And I think she'd receive it because that is what she was fighting for: my right to express my thoughts, as well as her right to sport body ink!

I just think that women with body ink need to be entered into a Miss Carnival USA contest, not Miss USA. Again, it is my view, from a time that is long gone, and rapidly leaving all of us!

My aunt died a few months ago, and I had the privilege to talk to her the day before she passed. BTW - she was 93. She told me she was more than ready to go home to be with God, as she "No longer felt like she was a part of this new generation!" I think that is keen insight!

I am feeling more and more like the world I once knew and lived in, is here! Ideals, values, morals, and how the church sees things, is vanishing in regard to my day and age!

It is sad, but also true. I was merely sharing how I felt for this woman and her inked skin in what was once a prestigious contest for women. I suppose that in the next ten to twenty years, a woman without ink will be the rage of the media, and a conversation starter here on the board!

Thanks for all the fine input, feedback and suggestions! This board works to help each of us in ways that only those who pose the question will ever be able to really appreciate! God bless!

In regards to the Leviticus citation: that tats are a pagan practice seems to be the consensus.
