I'll tell you what. Instead of sitting in your easy chair and reading books go charter and airline and go somewhere in the world and actually live it. Or even easier go live out on the Navajo Reservation and then tell me about ministry, preaching, and sacrifice. Things you will not find in your books. How many filthy stinking drunks have you put your arm around, fed them a sandwhich, prayed with them and shared the gospel with? How many people have you stood over and preached their funeral because of suicide? How many men have you have cut down out of their closet because they hung themselves? How many roofs have you repaired, how many wood sheds have you built so a widow woman can have dry wood for the winter? How many men have you driven across the state to rehab? And in doing any of this how many of those have hated you for it? How many of your children were pinned against the wall at school while the Navajo kids thru rocks at them? How many of your children were beaten up and bullied? How many of your children have ever come to you and begged you to move?

And I will ask again, how many people have you led to the Lord and personally discipled this year?

You have one master – sin or God. I am freed from the bondage of sin and a slave to God, although sometimes not a very good one. :tear:

Evan. I do understand the concerns (and perhaps aggravation) that some have expressed here. But remember you are not accountable to anyone here on the BB. I question the effectiveness of street preaching, but I am not called to be a street preacher. If you reach one for Christ - that may be the one God sent you there to reach. Your calling is between you and God.

Obedience to God does not mean that you seek persecution but rather that you are obedient regardless of the persecution that may come your way. The Circumcellions sought to be martyrs, even by provoking their own deaths. They were heretics. If you believe God is calling you to preach on the corner, then don’t go off to some Navajo Reservation hunting for “real” persecution - preach on the corner. Just be sure of your calling and obey.

God brings the converts. The effectiveness is not what counts, because its all abut obedience.

Yeah. Apparently you have not been paying attention.

How about being imprisoned, beat up, tazed, etc? Does that count?

    Are you addressing me?

If so, I do not believe that the OP has suffered any of those things, but I could be wrong. Perhaps a very small minority of street preachers have. And truth be told, some have because they are foolish, wishing to draw attention to themselves rather than to Christ.

I have the highest respect for those who have truly suffered for Christ. I will never forget Richard Wurmbrand speaking at our chapel at Tennessee Temple University and pulling up his shirt to reveal the scars he had suffered for Christ.

I have zip, zero, nada respect for people who whine about "persecution" and criticize others who do not follow their WOTM or "You must street preach" "gospel".

Just shut up and do it.

Once I had a female walk up to me and spray a certain toxin near me that if it had gotten on my eyes may have caused me temporary blindness. She was simply antagonizing me.

Hey brother, stop worrying about what your bitter, malicious and angry antagonists say here. Pray, read, preach.

Read my thread on the Sovereignty of God in salvation. I answer objections.

Wisest thing you've said in this thread is when you said you're done. Go and accomplish your own advice to yourself.

Maybe I am wrong but someone who is truly being persecuted for his or her faithful witness would not post about it in some debate forum. To me it seems the equivalent of praying out loud on the street corner so everyone can see and hear me pray and then to say "woe is me" when people object in a hostile way.
