For anyone interested, I created a group on the ESPN COLLEGE PICK'EM GAME for another board, but anyone here is welcome to join in. Thea group is called called JLM Football Fans and the password is: jlm

I created another group on the Yahoo! College Football Pick'em in case there are others here as crazy about college football as I am. It has the same group name JLM Football Fans and password jlm. I think you have to have the group ID# to join, which is: 13414 If you already have a Yahoo email account, it is pretty easy to join in.

Both games are free to join and are just for fun. I think both games don't lock the picks until Saturday moring. In the ESPN game, points are based on your confidence in the picks. In the Yahoo game, you are picking against the points spread. Let me know if you have any questions.

Something is wrong with the Yahoo one I think. I picked Wake over Clemson and it gave me a correct.??? I picked Oklahoma and it gave me an incorrect?

It is based on the predicted points spread in the game. The middle numbers are the points spread for the game for the day listed. Oklahoma's points spread was 32.5 points which means if you pick them they have to win by 33 or more points for you to be correct. Since they only won by 16 points it was incorrect.

The points spread on the Clemson game was 11.5 points. Because Clemson only won by 7 points (less than the 11.5) you got it correct even though you picked Wake.

A couple other people were also confused by it. The instructions on the game aren't very clear, so I should have explained it a little better. Sorry about the confusion.

The ESPN game is straight head-to-head with no points spread figured in. You just have to decide how confident you are with your picks giving the pick you are most confident about a 10 on down to the least confident pick which should be given a 1 value. Both are a little confusing, so let me know if you still have questions. [IMG]

The number of points you assign to the pick is the number of points you get if you are correct. 10 points for the one you are most confident about and 1 point for the one you are most unsure of. Each number (1-10) can only be used one time.

Example: I am assigning the 10 point pick to the Michigan/Notre Dame game this week because I am almost certain that the Wolverines will easily defeat the Irish. :D

Thanks for saying that. I didn't read the rules so I was going on 1 being the most confident!

I changed the group settings to drop the lowest 2 scores for each person on the Yahoo game. Hopefully that will help those who joined late or were confused at the beginning. It doesn't seem to have taken effect yet, so I will keep watching it.

I am all in favor of discussing the games here each week. I just wish they'd quit putting Notre Dame in because I'll never pick them and they usually win.

I was thinking the same thing, Mark! [IMG] I usually pick against texas and Notre Dame unless they are playing a small conference team that has no chance. With the points spread figured into the Yahoo game, I can pick them both to lose every week regardless of the quality of the opponent and have a chance of getting it right. [IMG]
