Better yet when did Christ DIE ?

    My answer would be the WEDNESDAY before ressurection SUN.

    Hung on the Cross around noon Wed. and passed aound 3:00 Pm buried by, 6:00 that night which to the Jews would be the beggining of a new day Thursday. He rose again Sun morning before DAWN.

    I'll explain later if someone else doesn't.

    In 33AD - oh, I thought you meant which year [​IMG]

    IMHO the Wednesday before Passover Day
    (the last day of Passover). One can probably
    date that Thursday by figuring out which
    Jewish year that was and noting that
    Passover day (the last day of Passover)
    was on a Thursday.

    So i'm going for the answer: "Passover Day AD33".

    So why do we celebrate GOOD FRIDAY ?

    Jesus said " Just as Jonah was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish, so SHALL the son of man be 3 days and three nights in the heart of the earth "

    So there is no way he died on Friday.

    Because it would disrupt the work week if we celebrated Good Wednesday or Good Thursday! ;)

    Bt Paul says that Jesus "was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures". If He died on Wednesday wouldn't "on the third day" mean Saturday?

    NO The Jewish day starts at 6:00 pm.

    Read again what I wrote:

    I did read what you wrote. By your reckoning, the first day would be Wed. 6pm to Thursday 6pm. The second day would be Thurs. 6pm to Fri. 6pm. The thirday day would be Fri. 6pm to Sat. 6pm. If Jesus died on Wednesday afternoon and rose on Sunday morning that would be on the fourth day, not on the third day.

    No he was BURIED on our Wed. night which is the beginning of THEIR THURSDAY.

    SO Thur. 1 day.
    Fri. 2 days
    Sat. 3 days. he rose before the sun came up on SUNDAY. 3 full days.

    No one is sure exactly when he rose before dawn. All we know according to scripture is when the women came to check the tomb before dawn he was already gone. John 20:1 Luke 24:1 and Mark 16:2

    According to this schedule, did Jesus have to rise before 6:00 P.M. Saturday to make sure Sunday (Sat. night after 6:00) was not also counted as the 4th day? But then again all of early church history says he rose on Sunday. But if on Sunday, then it was after 6:00 P.M. on Saturday. Something doesn't make sense with this view.

    OK I made a mistake. I am going by a graph that I have in front of me, which looks like little hills. So I read it wrong. Sorry for the confusion.

    I am going to write this out since there are a lot of very interesting facts.

    He Died at 3;00 PM according to LUKE 23:44-46

    He was taken off the cross by 6:00 requested by Pilot as it was a HIGH SABBATH DAY John 19:14 and 31. And Jesus needed to be in the tomb by the Sabbath. ( High Sabbath, the Jews had 4 sabbath days in a row.)

    He rose again before the sun rose on SUN. John 20:1, Luke 24:1 and Mark 16:2.

    This is the MOST interesting part. By doing this JESUS FULFILLED all the Jewish feast.

    1) The feast of the Passover on Thursday. 14th day of Nissan Christ became our passover Lamb.

    2) The Feast of the Unleaven Bread on Friday.
    Christ who had NO corruption was in the tomb on this day which signifies that he had NO CORRUPTION in him. ( leaven is a type of corruption. Acts 2:27, 30 & 31.

    3) The regular Sabbath on Sat he rested therefore fulfilling the Jewish LAW of the Sabbath.

    4) The Feast of First Fruits on Sun.
    He became the first fruits of the ressurection
    1 COR. 15:20-23.

    Again, though, Paul says that Jesus rose on the third day, not after three full days (which would have been on the fourth day). Do you see the problem?

    MATT. 12:40 " So shall the son of man be THREE days and THREE nights in the Earth. "

    MATT. 27:63 " And AFTER Three days, I will rise again ".

    MARK.8:31 " And AFTER three days, I will rise again ".

    JOHN 2:19 " Destroy this Temple (body) and I will raise it again in THREE days ".


    Whatever.... I think your names fits you. Seems your main purpose is to argue.

    There are various views on this and valid points for each one. This rather brief article shows the views for Wed., Thurs., and Fri. being the day of the crucifixion, and gives the positive points for each view as well as the drawbacks.

    It's very interesting to look at all 3 views.

    I've looked at all three veiws, the thing that sealed it for me was THREE full days and THREE full nights. Otherwise Jesus would be a liar.

    And the fact that Jesus FULFILLED the four Sabbaths in a row. Everything in the Old Testament POINTED to Christ including this truth.
    Hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled by Christ including these four Sabbaths. In my opinion there can be NO other veiw.

    By the way it was the Catholics who started the Good friday since they didn't have a clear understanding that it was a HIGH SABBATH, and that there were four in a row. They thought it was a regular Sabbath SAT.

    I would say Thursday, yet there is a good case for Wednesday. Most people do not seem to take into account that the Friday was a High Sabbath.

    No, my purpose is to try to get you to think about why Jesus says "after three days" but Paul says "on the third day". Was Paul wrong? Was Jesus wrong? Or is there a third option? Maybe it isn't as clear-cut as you think.
