I think you are generalizing here rather than speaking of this specific incident. It is far from clear that Gordon intentionally wrecked Kenseth. I have been critical of Jeff Gordon particularly over the "bump-and'run" that he has committed at Bristol several times. I don't like that move. After seeing this incident, I don't think it was a bump and run.

It is a general observation, the Gordon fans that I have been around see things through "rainbow" colored glasses. Gordon is always cheated. He is always mistreated. No one ever outdrives him, etc. The list could go on and on. Very rarely do they see things objectively.

If you are critical of Gordon when he messes up, then I applaud you for that. But from the Gordon fans I have been around both here on this board and in person I think you are the exception and not the rule.

I am not a Gordon fan.

No. It puts you on the same side of the issue. Maybe you and SBC posted something about the lack of class of those who did this before starting in on Gordon... but I didn't see it.

You didn't like Dale Earnhardt, right?
No. But I respected him and really felt grief when he died. Quote:

    Sure... except I don't drink beer.:D

So, you complain about a lack of class when idiots throw trash on the track, but it's Ok if a driver you don't like gets beer poured on him. Gotta love the hypocrisy. Not.

Well that was a bad day...Dale Jr. and Stewart having problems and then Whiner Bush winning.

Didn't say anything close to that. That is simply your bias filling in blanks that aren't there.

Not true and I have said that on this board.
    a) That was hardly "dirty" comparatively. b) I'm giving him credit... not fault. He seems to be finally coming around to realizing that if he wants to compete with Stewart and these younger, hyper-aggressive drivers then he's going to have to get aggressive himself.

Say what you will but Kennseth was driving extremely aggressively himself. He was cutting Gordon off and blocking him. If the shoe had been on the other foot, you'd have been cheering and saying how Gordon got what he deserved.

Nope. There are a number of things that contributed but the primary reason is that he his driving hasn't sufficiently evolved with the sport. The high risk, high reward style of driving is what works now... and when I say risk it doesn't usually mean risks to that driver but rather the drivers around them.

Finally, it appears that he's realized that.

It was a laugh today to watch Stewart complain about Newman not being concerned with "give and take". He's one of the most aggressive drivers out there. He definitely takes alot more than he gives... but all he sees is Newman causing him a problem. He is the king of taking risks with other peoples fortunes.

Nope. We heard those today: "Stewart is headed for the garage" and my favorite "The 8 car is officially retired from the race".

Wonderful day at the track when both Stewart and Earnhardt finish 40+.

I despise both Busch's but a Stewart fan calling Busch a whiner after Stewart's interview in the garage today is laughable.

Probably the most aggressive driver in the sport complaining because someone else won't "give and take"?

Busch is a whiner plain and simple. That has nothing to do with Stewart or the fact that I am his fan.

Obviously, I was not happy with Stewart getting out of the race with such a good car. However, it is part of racing. Stewart is sill in position to be in the chase and win another championship. :)

We may have not heard "Gordon is in the wall." But thankfully we also did not hear "Gordon wins"

No, you didn't. You suggested that Tony Stewart brake-checked Jeff Gordon at Martinsville. That's hardly saying that your driver was out-driven.

Oh, you were being facetious? Great. If so, then you won't have any problem with an apology for counting me as one of the idiots who would condone throwing trash on the track.

As far as the so-called Magic Mile, the best thing you can say about any race at New Hampshire is that it's short. The racing has gotten better over the last couple of years, but the best race at the Ordinary Mile is still worse than the worst race at North Wilkesboro.

I like Smoke, but cry me a river. Stewart complaining about somebody else's aggressive driving is pretty funny.

Richard Petty once said, "There are a lot of guys who know how to go fast, but not a lot of guys who know how to race." I submit that Ryan Newman knows how to go fast, but doesn't know how to race.

The lucky dog rule has been in effect for nearly 3 years. Despite whether you like the rule or not (and I don't), you ought to use it to your maximum advantage. Since Newman was obviously the first car a lap down, I fail to see what he had to gain from driving so hard into the corner. Whenever the caution came out, he was going to get his lap back anyway. Why push the issue so hard? Besides, if he had fresher tires as he claimed, why not use those tires to your advantage and pass Tony instead of driving so hard into the corner and wrecking both of you? Both Newman and Stewart drove as though the "racing-back-to-the-caution" rule were still in effect.

At least the least offensive Busch brother won the race.

I agree about Stewart. I was laughing as I watched that interview thinking wow isn't that they pot calling the kettle black.

But in defense of the drivers, I cannot imagine getting out of the car and having a microphone stuffed in my face and asked for my opinion on live tv. I am sure that is a challenge at times.

I also agree about Newman. He does know how to go fast and he does know a lot about the engineering of the car, but he does not know how to race. I think we are seeing why Rusty Wallace was so leary of him. I was not a Rusty fan, but Rusty did know how to race and I think he realized Newman doesn't.

I knew they served beer at NASCAR races - but whine too?

Maybe Busch would like some cheese with his "whine".

That is true, he is the least offensive of the two. However, he drivers for Hendrick (aka the evil empire) and thus has an additional mark against him.

    Evil Empire!

If Hendrick is the evil empire, what do we call Roush Racing? Jack Roush has historically been the biggest crybaby car owner in Nascar. The "whining empire" just doesn't have quite the same ring.

The whining empire is pretty good  Or maybe the Whiners Club, or Whiners R Us!

I do have a serioes question though. What in the world has happened to Yates Racing? It was not that long ago that everyone was talking about Yates horsepower and they won with Jarrett. Seems they have fallen off really quick.

Never said Busch wasn't a whiner. Can't stand the punk(s).

OTOH, Stewart was whining pretty hard about Newman... Couldn't just be that he didn't drive like he should've could it? It is never his fault is it?... To turn the tables just a little.

One thing doesn't establish a rule... especially when it is otherwise contradicted.

    Do what?

The real question is why didn't Stewart lift knowing that Newman had better tires. Several sweeping generalizations have been made here about Gordon fans never attributing his problems to his mistakes... Stewart's problems weren't all Newman's fault.

Stewart drives like everyone else should yield right of way then when it doesn't work out for him in this race he blames Newman for his problems. Sort of like a real life example of what you guys accuse Gordon fans of... except by the driver himself. Does "Smoke" ever recognize "Smoke's" responsibility in the wrecks he's involved in?

Not to me. I can't stand Kurt but Kyle takes that sniveling Major Burns image to a whole new level.
