Before considering the immediate context of Genesis 6, let us look and see why the term "Sons of God" in Genesis 6:2,4 cannot be referring to the "Holy Angels" [Mathew 25:31; Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26; Revelation 14:10] of the LORD [those who had remained loyal to God in the "war" in Heaven - Revelation 12:7-9, etc]:

These "Holy Angels" [the loyal "angels" [they of the created heavenly host], like Gabriel [one "that stand in the presence of God" Luke 1:19]] keeping and doing the Commandments of God and hearkening to His voice, are these whom did not leave their "first estate" as did those who rebelled; 'the cast-out angels' [Satan and his ilk] [Jude 1:6] and therefore the passages cannot be referring to them in the least, as it is written:

Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. - Psalms 103:20

The term "sons of God", also cannot be referring, in any way, to the evil angelic hosts [whom are simply fallen angels], for as was stated before, there is nowhere in all of Scripture, which declares that any of the angelic hosts, can be "fruitful and multiply", "bring forth abundantly", "beget", etc, which is given to the created beings of this earth, per Genesis 1, 2 &c. There is not one single text, and if a doctrine were to be True, it would have to have as a minimum - two or three witnesses, as seen here - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2215650&postcount=23

Procreation, as we have already witnessed in the previously cited texts, belongs not to the angelic hosts, but to those created beings of this earth:

So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. - Genesis 1:27

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. - Genesis 1:28

Where is it written, even once, that God said to any of the angelic hosts, 'I have made you in my image', blessing them, and to be "fruitful, and multiply" and "to fill"... nowhere.

For as it is written of the created angelic hosts:

For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? - Hebrews 1:5

Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: - Psalm 104:4

And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. - Hebrews 1:7

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? - Hebrews 1:14

Those of the wicked angelic hosts, cannot procreate, they may only "posses" the minds/hearts of mankind. This has nothing to do with invading their body physically [as so erroneously seen in so many spiritualistic things], but it deals with mind upon mind.

And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. - Matthew 4:24

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with [his] word, and healed all that were sick: - Matthew 8:16

And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. - Matthew 8:33

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. - Matthew 12:22

And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. - Mark 1:32

And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. - Mark 5:15

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? - Acts 5:3

For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed [with them]: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. - Acts 8:7

And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: - Acts 16:16

    etc.

We can see an example of what the Scripture means by a devil "entering" a person, not "physically", but by the "spirit" [Jesus' own words are "spirit" also, John 6:63], a mind taking control of the other mind, in subjugation:

Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. - Luke 22:3

And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son], to betray him; - John 13:2

    As it is written:

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? - Romans 6:16

As was stated, the angelic hosts are not ethereal, but have "flesh" and "bodies", and so are tangible beings. More on this later, for having the wrong view of the angelic hosts in their nature [the angelic hosts are not disembodied ghastial and gaseous ethereal essences], affects more theology than most generally know.

For a subset, the "spirit" is related to the "heart", mind and thoughts of a being, thus Hebrews 12:23, "the spirits of just men made perfect" and Psalms 104:4, with Hebrews 1:5,7,14, "ministering spirits", thus having minds in their heavenly bodies/flesh to minister.

And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD'S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments. Exodus 35:21

But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day. Deuteronomy 2:30

And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel. Joshua 5:1

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalms 34:18

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalms 51:10

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalms 51:17

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. Psalms 77:6

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God. Psalms 78:8

Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. Psalms 143:4

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. Proverbs 15:13

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22

And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. Ecclesiastes 1:17

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15

Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. Isaiah 65:14

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: Ezekiel 11:19

Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Ezekiel 18:31

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 21:17

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Mark 2:8

But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Romans 2:29

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Peter 3:4

And thus the "spirit" of man, the "heart" of man is connected with reasoning and thoughts, 1 Chronicles 28:9; Matthew 9:4; Luke 2:35, 5:22, 24:38; Romans 2:15 and further:

Job 32:18 For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalms 142:3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

Psalms 143:4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

Isaiah 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

Isaiah 63:11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

Ezekiel 3:24 Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Zechariah 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

Mark 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

In another point, in regards the angelic hosts, Jesus said, speaking of the "children of this world", that those of the Resurrection [of Life, of the Just] shall be as the angelic hosts are now, not marrying, nor given in marriage:

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. - Matthew 22:30

For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. - Mark 12:25

And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: - Luke 20:34

But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: - Luke 20:35

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. - Luke 20:36

This speaks of the state of the angelic hosts as they are even now and have been in existence, and in the said Resurrection, mankind shall be "equal unto the angels" in this manner.

Since it is clear in scripture that the "angels" "neither marry nor, are given in marriage", and the scriptures "cannot be broken" [John 10:35] and are "profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" [2 Timothy 3:16], this automatically excludes all of the created angelic hosts [loyal or fallen] from the context as given in Genesis 6:2, for the text clearly says, "they [Sons of God] took them wives"; and a wife only comes through marriage which is an institution specifically given unto man-kind, who is "flesh and blood", by God Himself, so that the two ["man" [Adam] and "woman"; husband and wife] become "one flesh", as Genesis 2:4 shows:

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. - Genesis 6:2

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. - Genesis 2:4

But as we have already discovered from Hebrews 2:16, Genesis 1 & 2, etc that the "nature"/"flesh"/"body" [and 1 Corinthians 15:38-41] of the angelic hosts are not the same "kind" as that of the human/man-"Kind". They [angelic hosts and human] could never become "one flesh", even as Jude 1:7 states that the angelic hosts are "strange flesh" to that of human "flesh".

Let us not here confuse what Scripture plainly says with other pagan false mythologies [Norse, Greek, Roman, Babylonian, etc], about 'gods' coming down and siring children.

Another reason to consider why the term “Sons of God” in Genesis 6 cannot be referring to the "fallen angels" is because the text would then have more likely read "the devils...took them wives" [or of something to that effect, and even more so, a postulate "if":* if these "Sons of God" were in fact angels/devils or non-human, why would they then "t[ake] them wives", which would then be according to something that God specifically instituted/commanded for mankind, instead of just taking female flesh slaves?], but though this be a mere postulate "if", the text obviously does not read in this manner, and even further is that 2 of the 3 texts, which also read "Sons of God", in the Book of Job [which many compare Genesis 6 to], are already referring to Lucifer at so early a point as "Satan" [the Adversary/Accuser], which is in stark contrast to the "Sons of God".* Even further we may already see in Genesis 3:1,2,4,13-14, he is already referred to as the "serpent", and others as "lying spirit", etc, etc:

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. - Job 1:6

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. - Job 2:1

More on these two texts in a bit in what is going on there, and why Satan was allowed access to these meetings in Heaven.

But let us now look at what the text actually say and so delve a little deeper into the previous context and look back a little further into the Book of Genesis, for it will give a clearer understanding of who these "Sons of GOD" actually are.

Let our study be derived from the Word itself. Let us now move back to Genesis 6:2,4 and look even closer at the historical context which surrounds it and gain some clarity, for Genesis 6:2,4, etc is not written in a vacuum, but is built upon the foundation of Genesis 1 unto itself.

At this point, please read through Genesis 1:1-Genesis 6 to gather the background events that led up to the Flood.

It is plainly given that after Adam and Eve had sinned, they were then clothed by God with the skin [Genesis 3:21] of "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" [Revelation 13:8; representing, by shadow and type, the loving Sacrifice of God in Christ Jesus] and afterward were expelled from the Garden of Eden [Genesis 3:23-24].* Once they were removed from Paradise Adam and Even sired children, Cain and Abel [Genesis 4:1-2] and later also others, "sons and daughters" [Genesis 5:4].

The sacrifice of a lamb, the shadow and type, was continued and kept by fallen man-kind, in the hope of the coming Redeemer [Genesis 3:15], who was the reality, and is made even more plain in Genesis 4 by faithful and righteous Abel [Matthew 23:35; Hebrews 11:4] who "brought of the firstlings of his flock and the fat thereof" as an "offering" [Genesis 4:4].

However, during the process of time and continued offerings, Abel's brother Cain, ceased to follow in the specific example and type given of the "slain Lamb" by God Himself, but rather chose, in this one aspect, his own method and means of "offering" to God – that being the "fruit of the ground" [Genesis 4:3]. This represented Cain's own "works" [and rejection of God's provided righteousness], which came from the "cursed" ground. Yet Abel's "offering" was accepted by the LORD, but Cain's "offering" was not, which he became exceedingly angry over [Genesis 4:5]. Thus we see True and False worship in the beginning, and persecution, even as we shall have in the end...

Although the LORD lovingly counseled and warned Cain to avoid sin [Genesis 4:6-7] [in this case anger without a cause, which led to murder], Cain instead, in faithlessness and rebellion, chose not to listen to God and went to his brother Abel – and so Cain arose and "slew" [murdered] [1 John 3:12] his brother [Genesis 4:8].

After being "mark"[ed], Cain "went out from the presence of the LORD" [Genesis 4:16] and eventually had a great great great grandson named "Lamech" [Genesis 4:18].

The events of Cain's Lamech is extremely important for understanding the later and later transpiring events that led up to the Judgment of the Flood, for Lamech followed not only in the spiritual footsteps of Cain's rebellion in murdering another [Genesis 4:23], and even used the LORD as an excuse [Genesis 4:24], but it is clearly detailed that he even married "two wives" [Genesis 4:19] [the very first mentioned to do so, polygamy] which went against the original plan for marriage, which was given for man to have one wife [Genesis 2:24]. Many then followed suit. The line of Seth began to intermarry with the line of Cain [even as we see two lineages being given in Genesis], and were thus influenced by their idolatry and they turned their hearts away from the LORD, as it did throughout all of Scripture [Deuteronomy 17:17. 30:17; 1 Kings 11:2, etc].

The picture is thus becoming clearer that the phrase "Sons of God", as used in Genesis 6 is not meant to denote any of the angelic hosts but is rather a term which had represented those of man-kind who were "spiritually minded" [Romans 8:6], those who had "begun to call upon the name of the LORD" [Genesis 4:26] [See also Acts 22:16 for a similar reference], like the prophet Enoch [Jude 1:14], who continued to be faithful and followed and "walked" [Genesis 5:22,24] with the LORD in the "ways of God" [Deuteronomy 8:6, 10:12; 2 Samuel 22:22; Psalms 18:21] as did righteous Noah [Genesis 7:1] who was a "just man", "perfect in his generations" [Genesis 6:9] and was a "preacher of righteousness" [2 Peter 2:5] [See Psalms 119:172 for "righteousness"].

Yet, as scripture shows, these men began to be lured away, through the lusts of the eyes, flesh and pride of life, becoming unevenly yoked in marriages [2 Corinthians 6:14] and multiple marriages and eventually apostatized fully.

Let us see that, and we shall also look at the terms more closely as used in Scripture and in various passages in their contexts.

As usual, it is next to impossible to respond to your rainbow mishmash of posts which are extremely incoherent.

    Let us study
    Genesis 6:1-2 (KJV)
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose

It is clear that daughters of men are children of men. This has never been disputed. The question is , who are 'sons of God'?

    These are the four common/broad views on the subject;

    1. It refers specifically to “fallen” angels.
    2. It represents the “godly” descendants of Seth, one of Adam’s children.
    3. They were kings or rulers who were described as “gods.”
    4. They were human beings possessed by demonic fallen angels.

I favor #1 'Fallen' angels cohabited with women and sired Nephilim. This is the simplest understanding of the text. Occam's Razor, ' among competing hypothesis, the one with the least assumptions is most probably the correct one'. I will demonstrate that any OTHER understanding of the verse is clearly flawed.

    1. SONS OF GOD.
In this section, I intend to demonstrate that the expression SONS OF GOD is reserved for angels at least in the OT, that it can't possibly be referring to humans

This term bene elohim occurs five times in the OT, twice in Genesis 6, and in Job 1:6, 2:1 and 38:7

    Job 1:6 (KJV)
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them

    Job 2:1 (KJV)
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord

    Job 38:7 (KJV)
7 When the morning stars sang together,
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

There are some who are prepared to dispute 1:6 and 2:1 but NOBODY doubts 38:7 because it is talking of Creation and man was only created last so he could not have witnessed creation.

We have another phrase close but not equal to to bene elohim in Hosea
    Hosea 1:10 (KJV)
Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God

The word SON OF GOD clearly refers to angels here. They are called SONS OF GOD because God created them directly. Contrast that with DAUGHTERS OF MEN benoth Adam . The contrast is clear. Daughters were born to MEN,meaning to the entire human race. The scriptures belabor the source of these; they were born to men. Had SONS OF GOD descended from men, would it not have been appropriate to equally show us their 'source'?

They just took the women as they started to multiply and not they both multiplied and then started intermarrying. As the daughters increased, the sons of God moved in for a 'kill'

In NT,Adam the first man is called SON OF GOD because God created him directly. Believers are also called SONS OF GOD but this is because they have been born again. So it makes sense because essentially they are a new creature (2 Cor 5:17). So it is not wisdom reading these NT application of the word to Genesis 6 as some are wont to do to escape the obvious. In any case, why can't they equally pursue the same 'exegesis' on Job and argue that the sons of God there were men? :tonofbricks:

Still on SONS OF GOD,we have some similar phrases/expressions in OT. Example
    Daniel 3:25 (KJV)
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

The Hebrew word here is bar Elohim. It obviously is describing anything but a man. It may have been an angel or 'theophany'

    Other examples
    Psalms 29:1 (KJV)
1 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty,
give unto the Lord glory and strength.

    Psalms 89:6 (KJV)
6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord?
who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord?

Here the Hebrew word is bene elim and of course angels are the subject

The entire context of Genesis 6 begins and deals with "men" [Genesis 6:1] and "flesh" [Genesis 6:12] and "blood" and not "angels", not having the same "flesh" as we [1 Corinthians 15:39].

In fact passage after passage reveals the dealings of God with the doings and "wickedness of man" [Genesis 6:5]:

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. - Genesis 6:3

[As a side note, this passage is not revealing a "capstone" to the age limit of man-kind hereafter, for Job lived past the age of 120, as did many others post-flood, Shem, Ham, Japheth, Terah, Abraham, Sarah, Ishamel, Isaac, etc, but is rather giving the allotted time for man-kind's repentance to the preaching of Enoch and Noah, etc.* After 120 years, the Ark being finished and Noah, his wife and his son's and their wives went in, the door finally sealed and shut and the Judgment of the Flood came upon those who rejected the only means of salvation.]

And God saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. - Genesis 6:5

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. - Genesis 6:6

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. - Genesis 6:7

If we understand the events as they unfolded in the earlier chapters of Genesis, with Satan, Cain and Lamech [faithlessness, rebellion, anger, murder, multiple wives, excuses, disobedience, going out from the presence of the LORD and so on] and with Adam, Eve, Seth, Enoch, Noah [faith, repentance, obedience, walking with God, just, righteousness, calling upon the name of the LORD and so on], etc., we can then understand what was going on in Genesis 6.

Man-kind had begun to become many and "multiply" [Genesis 6:1] and two opposing sides could be clearly seen and witnessed upon the earth.

Seth's and Cain's - Those looking for the promised redeemer, continuing with the True sacrifice and offering and those who rejected the message and substituted their own form of worship and offerings. We see Genesis delineate these two lineages for us up to Genesis 6.

However, as it went, even the "Sons of God" [the spiritually minded descendants who were keeping the ways and worship of the True God] had begun to look upon the fair "daughters of men" taking "wives [plural] of all which they [not God] chose" [Genesis 6:2] [except for righteousness Noah and his sons who all only had one wife each, and not after Cain's daughters [Genesis 7:13]] and so they had began to apostatize and become worldly and so they began to intermingle, being led astray, and also to intermarry which led them to "corrupt" the "ways of God" through "violence" and "wickedness" - and "every imagination of the thoughts" of man-kind's "heart [was] only evil continually".

And so the Judgment of the Flood was given, preached unto repentance, and finally received by those who rejected, grieving away the Holy Spirit of God [Genesis 6:3; 1 Peter 3:18-21; 2 Peter 2:5]:

The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. - Genesis 6:11

And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. - Genesis 6:12

And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. - Genesis 6:13

And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: - Genesis 7:21

"And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained [alive], and they that [were] with him in the ark." [Genesis 7:23]

Where is anything said of any of the angelic hosts being destroyed, or of some imagined half-angelic/human hybrid, likewise? Nowhere.

The problem of intermixing and intermarrying [amongst the "people, children and sons of God" with the "daughters of men, gentiles, nations, world", etc] and having multiple wives leading into overt apostasy against God Almighty and directly into the bondage of sin, adultery, fornication and idolatry is given all throughout scripture in crystal clear testimony in all of such actions disastrous endeavors:

This was reiterated in the days of Moses:

Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and [one] call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; - Exodus 34:15

And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods. - Exodus 34:16

… In the days of the Second Giving of the Law:

"Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold." [Deuteronomy 17:17] [See King Solomon]

… In the days of the prophet Balaam and King Balak, with the People Israel:

"And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab." [Numbers 25:1]

"And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods." [Numbers 25:2]

"And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel." [Numbers 25:3]

… In the days of Abraham and Isaac:

"And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:" [Genesis 24:3]

"And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:" [Genesis 24:37]

… In the days of Esau and Jacob:

"And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:" [Genesis 26:34]

"Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah." [Genesis 26:35]

"And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;" [Genesis 28:8] [compared to Genesis 27:46, 28:1,6 - Jacob, who did not take the daughters of Canaan]

"Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;" [Genesis 36:2] [and even a third wife; multiple wives [though this time of Ishmael]

"Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife." [Genesis 28:9]

    ...to be continued...

… In the days of Isaac and Jacob:

"And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these [which are] of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?" [Genesis 27:46]

"And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan." [Genesis 28:1]

"When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;" [Genesis 28:6]

… In the days of Jacob and Hamor:

"And make ye marriages with us, [and] give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you." [Genesis 34:9]

"And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that [were] a reproach unto us:" [Genesis 34:14]

… In the time of Judges of Israel:

"And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:" [Judges 3:5]

"And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods." [Judges 3:6]

"And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves." [Judges 3:7]

… In the time of Samson the Judge:

"And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines." [Judges 14:1]

"And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife." [Judges 14:2]

"Then his father and his mother said unto him, [Is there] never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well." [Judges 14:3]

    … In the Chronicles:

"And these [were] the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, [and] heads of the house of their fathers." [1 Chronicles 5:24]

"And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them." [1 Chronicles 5:25]

… In the days of Ezra:

"Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, [doing] according to their abominations, [even] of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites." [Ezra 9:1]

"For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of [those] lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass." [Ezra 9:2]

"Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness." [Ezra 9:11]

"Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave [it] for an inheritance to your children for ever." [Ezra 9:12]

... In the days of Nehemiah:

"And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers." [Nehemiah 9:2]

"And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;" [Nehemiah 10:28]

"They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;" [Nehemiah 10:29]

"And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:" [Nehemiah 10:30]

"In those days also saw I Jews [that] had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, [and] of Moab:" [Nehemiah 13:23]

"And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, [saying], Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves." [Nehemiah 13:25]

"Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin." [Nehemiah 13:26]

"Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?" [Nehemiah 13:27]

... and also again in the days of King Solomon:

"But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, [and] Hittites;" [1 Kings 11:1]

"Of the nations [concerning] which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: [for] surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love." [1 Kings 11:2]

"And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart." [1 Kings 11:3]

"For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, [that] his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as [was] the heart of David his father." [1 Kings 11:4]

"For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites." [1 Kings 11:5]

"And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as [did] David his father." [1 Kings 11:6]

"Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that [is] before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon." [1 Kings 11:7]

"And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods." [1 Kings 11:8]

Many "Sons of God" "looked"/"saw" and “beheld” ["saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair" and "took them wives of all which they chose" Genesis 6:2] and "beheld" [Just as did Samson, "she pleaseth me well", or King David who went after Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite and his friend, through covetousness had Uriah killed in action "from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to look upon" [2 Samuel 11:2, 12:9] and Solomon who "multiplied wives" and "loved many strange women" and all Israel who took of the "daughters of the land"], and then "lusted and coveted" and so were ensnared being "Vex[ed], Beguiled, To Commit Trespass Against The LORD, Commit Fornication, Eat things sacrificed unto Idols, worshipped idols" [Numbers 25:18, 31:16; Revelation 2:14]:

"Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core." [Jude 1:11]

    For James says:

"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." [James 1:14]

"Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." [James 1:15]

Look at the call for the "people of God" also today to "come out" of "Spiritual Babylon" [just as God had done with physical Babylon; Jeremiah 51:9; Isaiah 52:11] that "great Whore" [Revelation 17:1, 19:2]:

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" [2 Corinthians 6:14]

"And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" [2 Corinthians 6:15]

"And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people." [2 Corinthians 6:16]

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you," [2 Corinthians 6:17]

"And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." [2 Corinthians 6:18]

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." [Revelation 18:4]

How did Satan get Israel to sin against God, just before entering the promised land, with Balaam, and Balak? "The people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab." Numbers 25:1

Now, "How is the term "Sons of God" used in scripture?" Let us see...

    This is basically a monologue.
SONS OF GOD. Show why they are men and not angels or anything else for that matter.

I shall fully do so tomorrow brother vooks, by the grace of God. Let patience have her perfect work.

I leave with you a hint. After Adam sinned, his children were in the image of Adam [man]. Yet, those born again, calling upon the name of the LORD, are born of the Holy Spirit, made in the image of God.

A figment of your own imagination. ALL men are made in the image of God

They are made in the image of God before being born again. Calling on the name of the Lord does not put God's image in you; you already have it

I don't see how it is even possible for Vooks to be wrong so often. Surely there is some subject where he takes the Bible position and correctly holds to it. One cannot "Cover" for a wrong position by resorting to much name-calling and school-yard antics. Hence the signature line.

    1. Christians are called Sons of God because they are born again
    2. Adam is called son of God because he was created directly unlike any other man, just like angels. Note Adam is called Son of God in a genealogy listing EVERYONE else as son of a fellow man

Sons of God are angels, else sons of God in Job are men as well:laugh:

    .
Oh, but it is so and we are not talking about something that is ambiguous. You just have a prejudice (from whatever influence) and you don't want to see what is really there. But...it's obvious.

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Of necessity this had to be talking about the angels 'the sons of God'---ben of God 'elohiym בני האלהים

Why? Because man had not yet been created, which was the subject in context of Job 38.

The same language is used in Genesis 6:4 the sons <ben> of God <'elohiym> came in <bow'> unto the daughters <bath> of men <'adam>, and they bare <yalad> children to them.

NOW...had it said, "the sons of Seth came into the daughters of men..." you would have a case. But the fact is you don't.

I would suggest that you are the one who needs do that because your position is in error. The Holy Spirit did not lead you to such a position. This is from the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia explaining the biblical defintion:

As I have already stated more than once in this discussion, the thing that nails this down as it regards fallen angels cohabiting with human females is seen in Daniel 2:43 in which the demonic powers behind the coming forces of antichrist will mingle with human females...repeating exactly what happened just before Noah's flood. They will seek to change the DNA of man but the effort will only produce a deformed and/or monstrous offspring.

And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay

This is not a pre-mature conclusion. I held to your position years ago but both a nearly 50 year study of scripture and experience (vivid experiences!) compelled me to make the change.

In the mid 1970's Hollywood produced an exceedingly awful motion picture called "The Entity". it was about a deeply demonized woman who had been raped by an invisible spirit (they called it a 'ghost'). But the matter was based on a true story. The matter gained enough notoriety that professor Kerry Gaynor and his team from UCLA were called in to investigate. In time the woman finally admitted to Gaynor that she had been sexually assaulted by the 'ghost'. He thought she was crazy...until he and his team of 20 investigators caught on camera a plethora of very frightening phenomena in the womans house.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyO1Dllhe38

I have never seen a more credible researcher/investigator than Gaynor.

Later I received a letter from a woman who told me that she had been attacked and raped by some invisible being that she could not fend off and could not stop. I took a second look at the scriptures and began to see that what I had believed for years was wrong. THEN...between 1994 and 2006 I likewise witnessed two different females who were raped (actually attempted rape) right in front of me. I was both embarrassed and shocked at both of these occurrences but I had to deal with it. It took some fervent prayer to stop what was happening but in both cases the Lord stopped it and both females were delivered from the powers of darkness. I can only say that both of those instances were very, very sobering to ones soul. I hope I never see such things again, but I won't run from it if I do.

You studied it with the same prejudices I had when I argued the same line of reasoning. I do not think you are a heretic, just wrong on this particular issue.

    I wish you well.

True - and in Genesis 6 - it is not angels but men - because Christ has already told us that Angels have no "design" no "mechanism" no "ability" for form family groups of any kind - not even with themselves - much less with other "species".

    The point remains.

    in Christ,

    Bob

No, He did not tell us that and you, sir, are adding to the scriptures.

I notice that you did not quote Him but I will:

Mt 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Mr 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
Lu 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

In not one of those passages in the gospels do we find the indication that, "no "design" no "mechanism" no "ability" for(to) form family groups of any kind.

He simply told us they do not marry. That's it. So you were not accurate and you are also ignoring the import of Daniel 2:43 & Jude 1:6-7 which seals the deal on the matter. if indeed the forces of darkness can 'mingle' with the 'seed of men' then what other conclusion can there be? The 'strange flesh' mentioned in Jude 7 is not homosexual flesh but according to the Greek defintion of 'strange' it is 'altered', 'different' flesh. That is, something with different DNA than man's.

    You missed the point.

Not so brother vooks, for notice:

And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: Genesis 5:3

Not according to the Scripture just cited, Genesis 5:3, and following:

    See also:

And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. - Romans 1:23

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: - Romans 8:3

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: - Philippians 2:7

    Paul further:

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. - Romans 8:29

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord. - 2 Corinthians 3:18

And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: - Colossians 3:10

We can also consider more on what Job said:

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. - Psalm 17:15

    Again, not so:

Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. - John 8:44

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: - Ephesians 2:2

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. - Ephesians 2:3

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. - Ephesians 5:6

For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: - Colossians 3:6

    Thus as it is written:

And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. - Acts 2:21

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. - Romans 10:13

Classic definition. Now go back to the beginning:

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. - Genesis 4:26

    Said of Jesus:

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. - Hebrews 13:8

See also the last post in regards likeness of God, and likeness of men - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2219239&postcount=58

And so before moving to the topic of the "Sons of God", I want to backtrack a minute and restate a Scriptural point:

And thus with this, someone had said:

There is a reason it does not say "sons of Seth", but rather "sons of God". The first, "of Seth" [not what the Scripture says], simply states human birth/generation of the flesh, but the second, "of God" [what Scripture says], refers to being born-again, as shown above. The "daughters of men" refers to those not "born" "of God", but simply born after the flesh of men, in the likeness of men [Genesis 5:3]. The text should not say "sons of Seth", for it would not be accurate in its contextual [Genesis 1 onward] details.

We see two spiritual lines, and those which come into those same two choices:

[1] And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. - Genesis 4:16

[2] And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. - Genesis 4:26

Thus we have Adam having many children, some choosing to "call upon the name of the LORD", as Seth, ets, and others choosing instead to go after "the way of Cain" [Jude 1:11] and go "out from the presence of the LORD", saying to God, "Depart from us." [Job 21:14, 22:17]

    ...to be continued...

And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: - Genesis 5:30

And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. - Genesis 5:31

And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. - Genesis 5:32

All the way back from Enoch and Methuselah, we see God about to send the Flood, for it is said of Enoch:

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. - Hebrews 11:5

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, - Jude 1:14

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. - Jude 1:15

And Enoch named his son a prophetic name, Methuselah, which means, in his death it [the Flood] shall be sent [by God]. The name itself was basically a time/event prophecy as noted coming to its end here, though no one would know the exact day nor hour, except God [hint, hint... typology, History is repeating itself]:

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. - Genesis 6:3

It was said also of Noah:

And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; - 2 Peter 2:5

None of the materials given in Genesis 1-3, nor 4-5, say anything about the Flood being sent because of devil-human hybrids, etc, but it does speak of the wickedness of the heats of men, and their wicked deeds, Cain a murderer, like Lamech distorting marriage, etc, etc. Genesis 6:1,3,5 which surrounds vss 2,4 deals with "men" [mankind]. Not a word about any of the angelic hosts [except in implication behind the scenes, wherein satan inspired rebellion against God in man, thus getting them to "corrupt [God's] way" [vs 12] upon the earth]. I will come to the Job passages [Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7] in a minute, and show by Scripture, that their context is not referring to the timeframe of the flood at all, though there is a passage in Job which does specifically deal with that timeframe, and it speaks of "wicked men".
