Recently Israel banned Heinz Ketchup from being sold as ketchup in Israel because the product lacked sufficient tomato pulp.

There seems to be two reasons for the ban. One is that an Israeli brand pushed Heinz off the shelf for lack of tomatoes.

The second reason seems to be Obama-fatigue and a slap in the long face of John Kerry, who, as you know, married the fabulously wealthy widow of PA Senator Heinz.

I wonder if Israel will also ban Heinz 57 steak sauce?

It's my favorite steak sauce, so I'll be wondering that, if I should plan to visit Israel in the future, I'll know to carry some with me in unmarked bottles--provided the TSA folks don't confiscate them for their own use at one of those taxpayer-funded barbeque parties.:tongue3:

    Not surprised on either count.

Actually, I read a better source a few days ago, but I don't know what it was. There are many links.

Fund Headed by Kerry’s Wife Donated to Anti-Israel ‘Conflict Kitchen’

"The Heinz Foundation, headed by the wife of Heinz heiress Mrs. John Kerry, AKA Teresa Heinz Kerry, has been caught having donated $50,000 to the “Conflict Kitchen,’ a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania soup kitchen that serves up food on a platter of anti-Zionism.

The soup kitchen recently came up with the gimmick of serving “Palestinian food,” whatever that means, in leaflets with quotes that support both terrorism and the idea that Israel should not exists...."

Perhaps this has been brewing for a while?

Israel Brazenly Renames Heinz Ketchup ‘Tomato Seasoning’

"...The official explanation is that a standard bottle of Heinz doesn't have enough tomato paste to qualify it under Israel's definition of the condiment, which requires at least 10 percent tomato solids. (Heinz contains almost half that — 6 percent.)

It turns out a Heinz rival is at the root of this sacrilege (surprise, surprise). Osem, Heinz's major Israeli competitor, conducted its own vigilante lab tests back in January, and used them to show government officials that Heinz's bottles didn't hit the tomato cutoff. Ever since, it's been doggedly lobbying retailers to yank Heinz from shelves — or at the very least, to not place it in the vicinity of the ketchup section.

Heinz tells Newsweek the problem is simply that "the Israeli standard for ketchup has yet to be brought in line with U.S. and European accepted international standards." (Ouch!) The good news is that the government's ruling only affects bottles in Hebrew; Heinz labels printed in English can still say "ketchup."..."

    Very good, KY Red! Thanks!

Here is a 30-second video of John "why the long-face" Kerry playing the piano--and he does a good job!

Too bad we can't ban John Kerry and his wife to Tatooine. Thank God he did not get elected president. I'd take what we got now over Swiftboat Kerry any day of the week.
