I'm a Gospel Hip Hop artist from a little town south of Houston, Texas. I've been offered a few small recording contracts...but I wanted to get some feedback from you...the people who would/would not listen to the music, as to what you think of it.
    you can listen at www.soundclick.com/ethek
I would appreciate any feedback that you might have. Keep in mind that these are just studio tracks that have not been mixed yet..but you'll get the idea content wise.
    THANKS
    Joe McElroy aka Ethek

Havent listened yet coz the computers at school dont have sound but when i do i will. I think the idea of Gospel Hip Hop is brillient and that you are going to start a very popular style of christian music.
P.s. I havent heard of this type of music before so i am sorry if someone else stared it but if you havent started it then i think you are gonna make it even more well know coz the more people who sing or have that style the more peolpe will hear of it and it will became popular.

well...no, I didn't start it...it's actually been in existance for about 20 years or so.
it's just that nobody seems to know....the people that do the music have a tendency to keep it between themselves...it's time that changes..hiphop is one of the most popular music genres in the WORLD right now...we should be using it for Christ...ya'll help me out..let me know what you think!! I'm not a teen, but I'm gonna answer you anyhow. [IMG]

Here's the deal. I don't listen to this type of music, neither do my children.
But..others do. Would I prefer kids listen to your music over other non-Christian rap? Yep. But I'd prefer they find greater pleasure in singing and listening to music as if God was standing right before them, and this type doesn't strike me as such. Do you sound like you have talent? Yep.
The song you said was "what it's all about" shows your heart, and I appreciated that.
I wouldn't want to hear this type of music in church, or in my home, but I've spoken with many people who used this type of music as a "bridge" between listening to ungodly music and switching over to Godly lyrics, and in that respect I feel your music could be useful.
Now I've probably totally confused you, lol.
Why don't you tell us a little more about yourself? How old are you, how did you come to know Christ?

    my info:
Joe McElroy, white male, 26 years old.
I'm married, have one child and one on the way.
    I'm also a police officer.

As to how I came to know Christ...I grew up in a Baptist Church. Went to all the youth events. PROFESSED to have been saved at 13. The thing was..my heart wasn't changed. At the age of 21, I finally broke down, and GAVE MY HEART AND MY LIFE to Christ.

Started out hosting outreaches on the streets...and it just evolved into the music that you hear on the site.

God is working through hip hop, as well as many other genres of music.

Thanks for the response!! KEEP IT COMING PLEASE!

I'm not into the whole "ungodly beat" thing, but my dad is....

(I listen to a collective number of "secular" music selections... mostly because I like the beat or the lyrics... nothing bad... most of it's skating music [IMG] )

I HATE Rap... the only time I listen to it is when it's from one of Will Smith's movies(and even then only when it's being played after the made for TV version...) Carman is the only "rapper" I can stand... and I like his regular contemporary and monologue peices better [IMG]

I may go and listen later, but I have a lot of homework to do now ;)

thanks again everyone for responding...here's the deal...if you don't like rap..give me a QUICK listen, and let me know what you think of the content!!! THAT'S WHAT'S IMPORTANT ANYWAY!!

as far as the UnGodly beat issue....how can beats...made by TRUE GOD FEARING CHRISTIAN...be unGodly???????

I produce some of the beats...and others come from REAL LIVE Christian producers....(not trying to argue...just making my point)

Again thanks...and God Bless EVERYONE that's taking the time to take a listen!!!

    GOD IS LOVE..ENOUGH SAID!! [IMG]

actually it has more than just to do with teh emotional... as a pep band player... I know that a heavy drum beat can make your heart do some pretty weird things....

a lot of why I don't listen to the heavier stuff is because once I get into that(and I can rarely understand rap or heavy metal) I find myself being drawn to the secular side

with contemp/pop Christian I don't have that problem

Thanks for the feedback Unashamed. Here's my response: If certain beats tend to lead you closer in a direction that could ultimately lead to sin....Then AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

This is an issue that is between you and God, and you obviously know what works for you and what does not!

God Bless You, and thanks for the honesty!!
    PEACE! ;)
