What do yall think about going to prom? Will you go to yours or not? Do you think Christians should dance or not?

Absolutely not! Christians are to be held to a higher standard, and you know right where dancing will lead you...

I went to mine and my daughter went to hers, and as far as I know every Christian we knew went to theirs.

Proms are really more about "being with your classmates" than they are about "dancing". I bet at last half of the kids who go don't dance. Of course, I don't necessarily think dancing is a sin. I sure don't see the bible calling it one.
No "thou shalt not dance" listings I can find.

I didn't go to my prom... I had other plans and had a great time. But I might have gone (would've thought about it) had I not had other plans first.

I didn't go to mine, I don't go to dances, why would I go to an over publicised dance? I pretty much think that it would me, tempted. Not only me but the guy, It is a sin to make a man lust after you. And when you dance you get real close to one another, and it is just sinful.

When I went to prom it was not to make a guy lust after me. I went to spend time with friends. I did dance and I can honestly say that I did not have impure thoughts while dancing.

I also want to add that I did not dress to make my boyfriend to lust after me. I wore a very modest evening gown.

I say that my last prom was so great because I got to be at it with my little sister. I went because I wanted to go and have fun with all my friends. And I loved my dress.

I don't see anything wrong with going to prom as long as you're being responsible in all your actions before, during and after. I unfortunatly didn't go to mine, i could't get a date in time but oh well. lol

Kids in my church usually go. It means for them, dressing up, (and you can do it modestly), having hair and nails done, buying corsages and boutonnieres, eating out elegantly, practicing good manners, seeing friends for one of the last times before going separate ways, and going to afterprom parties sponsored by churches and community groups in which prizes are given away and no alcohol allowed. And taking lots of group pictures.
Some might dance a little, most don't. It is well-chaperoned here.

My son went last year in a group of six and had a great time. I must say he looked very handsome in his tux. [IMG] Here homeschooled and private school kids can go as long as a person in the public high school class gets them a ticket.

    -----------
If you dance properly you aren't "that" close.

I danced for years and years, and it was no more "sexually arousing" than swimming, volly-ball in shorts, or a lot of other things teens do on a fairly regular basis.

And, not to sound crude here, but if your reasons for avoiding activities are to prevent teenage boys from lusting, you best lock yourself in your house.

I did not go to my Junior prom and I will not be going to my Senior prom. I agree with Kayla.

It is just a time to hang out with friends and have fun. I do not see what the big deal about not going is. Part of your junior year is to plan the prom. What is wrong with having a night of good, clean fun??

I know it is a sin to make a guy lust after you. I am not disagreeing on that. Guys at church may lust after you. You probably are not doing anything to encourage it but they still might. To say you are not going to prom is because it might make a guy lust over you is kind of stupid. You could walk down the street and a guy could lust after you. As girls I believe guys lust after us whether we do anything to encourage it or not. So are you just going to stay at home and not do anything because a guy may lust after you??
