Should women join the military?

What are your thoughts about their doctrine on this?

In the event of a proposed draft on women, I have drafted the following in the form of a resolution that could be added to our church's constitution and by-laws. I would like to get your constructive thoughts and comments on this developing document:

Resolution Regarding the Biblical Position on Women in the Military

WHEREAS The order of Creation was Man (Adam) was formed first then Woman (Eve) (Genesis 2:7, 22; 1 Timothy 2: ) and the Man was the one to whom dominion was given over the works of God’s hands (Genesis 1:26-28 with Genesis 2:15) and

WHEREAS Eve was formed from Adam’s rib and given to be “an help meet for him” (Genesis 2:18, 22), to be one flesh (Genesis 2:24), and to help him carry out the task of dominion given him by God (Genesis 1:26-28) and

WHEREAS God has created Mankind with two (2) distinct genders, male and female (Genesis 1:27, Matthew 19:4) and has called for the two genders to be distinguished in physical design (Genesis 1:28 and 2:22-25), in dress (Deuteronomy 22:5, 1 Timothy 2: ) and in purpose (1 Timothy 5:14, Titus 2:4-5) and

WHEREAS Only men were named in the Old Testament to lead God’s people into war (Exodus 17:9, Judges 6:14, 1 Samuel 17:45) and only men are numbered for war (Numbers 1:3, 20, 24, etc.) and

WHEREAS The same gender distinctions and gender roles based on Creation are carried over into the New Testament for observance in the New Testament church (1 Corinthians 11:3-16, 1 Timothy 2:9-14, Titus 2:3-5) and

WHEREAS God has given man as the head of the woman, and this is covering is for her honor and protection (1 Corinthians 7:36-38 and 11:3) and

WHEREAS The role of the Christian young woman, wife, and mother is centered in and around the home (Matthew 19:5-6, 1 Timothy 2:15, Titus 2:4-5), being taught by older Christian women, who themselves have been taught the same, BE IT THEREFORE

RESOLVED that we, the covenant members of ____ Baptist Church do agree, covenant, and amend our church constitution and by-laws that women, whether single, married, or married with children are hereby prohibited from participating in military action, whether in peacetime or in war, as well as any “alternative service” based on conscientious objection that would separate husband and wife or mother and children and/or otherwise physically remove them from the home; and consequently that no military draft of women will be honored by any members of this congregation, as this directly violates our deeply held Biblical convictions based the Biblical principles outlined above, regarding God’s plan for the home.
