What does The Shack really teach? Paul Young's beliefs

    The shame is that so many will read his heretical views, and will STILL support him and the message of the Shack!

    I had someone say the other day that it is a great way to get a dialogue started with an unbeliever. I said that if I saw a god in a movie like the god in The Shack and then I started to read the Bible, I think the god of The Shack would be much more attractive. Since they are vastly different, one won't get the God of the Bible from the god of The Shack.

    The Shack phenomenon lays out the Biblical illiteracy in our society like nothing else I have seen. I have been party to a couple of Facebook threads where it was being discussed and the prevailing wisdom is that it is a wonderful inspirational book and "I can't wait to see the movie." When I demur and advise that it runs contrary to the beliefs of traditional Christianity, they are astounded and ask why. Of course I tell them it advocates for universalism and that it the only sentence in the whole book about the church is negative. I also advise that it is never appropriate for an uninspired writer to put words in God's mouth. People are surprised at these revelations about the book as if they know nothing about the Bible--which I have come to believe they don't.
