Given Amos 3:6, is America Suffering Judgment from God?

Amos 3:6 states the following from the bible:

"Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the LORD has done it?" (ESV)

In response, I make the claim that the natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and other forms of woe for a whole city besetting America's cities are always caused by God purposely out of judgment upon those cities. Now, I know this sounds heartless to say, and I must say that I do grieve with those who grieve, but I am simply stating what seems obvious when looking at the bible, as far as I can tell.

What say you? Do I misinterpret the bible?

 

I'm now beginning to suspect that Amos, which I need to reread, is the book for the modern age more than even Ecclesiastes.

For instance, a world of atrocities and wanton sin avenged by wars, natural disasters, and other atrocities is what we seem to be living in since at least Napoleon. Perhaps as far back as the conquest of the New World by Europe.

Also, Amos 4:12 has haunted me for years, as the reality of what has happened to so many people in the modern age.
