I know the Team R likes to talk about the state lines stuff. However,

1- Insurance is regulated by the states, not the feds - so not sure how this could be done.
2 - Never seen a credible study to show how this could lower the cost

Bottom line, I'm not really sure what this actually accomplishes.

It accomplishes more competition which is already known to lower costs. Less comp allows businesses to control prices at a higher level. If one should by insurance from a company in a state other than their own then it would seem that they would have to accept the insurance based on that state's regs. I am not sure what that would do to regulation in states in the long run but there is no doubt that more comp lowers prices.

So, my military disability is stolen from somebody else so I should quit accepting it?

but Trump didn't say that decades ago, he said it months ago and he's said since that he would help Ryan pass his bill. I think Trump is still open to be reasoned with:

and he could be employing negotiating techniques but it's going to be a tough haul to make it both universal and private like Trump wants.

Selling insurance across state lines might lower costs a little bit for a little while. The problem with buying insurance across state lines is that:

    1. The actuarial tables will be figured on what it costs to provide health care in the state the customer is located in. Thus, if I a person living in California buys health insurance from a company in Alabama, the company in Alabama will have rates adjusted for California residents.

    2. Selling insurance across state lines will have some effect for a little while. But then states will compete to get insurance companies to relocate to their state by passing laws that create incentives for health insurance companies to move there. This will cause insurance companies to relocate and once they do all rates will settle in at about the same numbers.

If you are disabled because of your service in the military, of course you should receive compensation.

That was not the point of the truth that Happy pointed out. The government can not give you or anyone else anything, whether it is deserved or not, that they do not take away from someone else.

My arch-conservative brother always adds the caveat, "And there is a big freight charge added." He does not believe the government should pay anything to anyone.

I've know a number of fellow I grew up with who receive checks from the government for disabilities. Most do not have any disability that really impacts their daily lives.

    Do they deserve the payment?

    By the law, yes.

    Morally or ethically, no.

"He does not believe the government should pay anything to anyone."

Actually, I do believe the government SHOULD pay it's employees, representatives and elected officials. As well as provide for spouses and children who's parent was disabled or killed in military service, until such time the spouse remarries. As well as compensation to any serviceman while IN service, or who was disabled because of the service.

A life-time of "benefits", because a person WAS and is no longer in an employee, representative, service, or elected position of the government? No.

A handout BECAUSE a person makes poor choices and can not provide for themselves? No.

My disability is military. I am a disabled veteran, with a compensatible, service connected disability.

In other words, while working for the US government, I was injured to such an extent that the results of that injury still have a negative impact on my life and health.
I do. Caused by my former employer (The US Army) and being compensated by my former employer.
I do. I earned every dime of it, paying for it with a literal "pound of flesh."

Gop leadership is not responsive to the desires of their constituents and haven't been for a long time.

That's why Donald Trump is president.

But the congressional GOP leadership is still the same.

And no one is implying or stating you should be denied compensation for your injuries.
Thank you for your service and hope you are receiving sufficient care because of your injuries during your service-time.

... 0bamaCare will die of natural causes.
It's been on life support for the past 3 years.
