On of the most humorous comments I heard from a preacher and maybe some of my brethren on here have heard it also, was his definition of a Sadducee... His comment was they did not believe in the resurrection and that is why they are Sadd... u... see. Apparently there were those known to Paul who baptized for the dead. This chapter to me the greatest declaration of the Resurrection Of The Dead and the reason and purpose that the dead are raised and have a resurrection is because Jesus Christ was raised first... According to what have ascertained baptism of the dead according to other information I've have gathered allows one to stand in proxy or represent the one who is dead... Then the one in the spiritual realm can accept the action of the one in the natural world... I can not understand how anyone could accept anything being DEAD?... Salvation is the grace and work of Jesus Christ alone... Baptism is not to put away the filth of the flesh but an answer of a good conscious toward God... The living person being raised from the liquid grave in newness of life is allowed to follow their Lord and Master Jesus Christ... From the verse that follows baptism of the dead was going on in Apostle Paul's day and I know some beliefs practice this today... Does your church?... If not what do you know if anything about this practice?... Brother Glen

I Corinthians 15:29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?

As far as I know this doctrine comes from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have never really looked into it but always assumed that there must be information on it in the Book of Mormon as I have never seen it instructed in the Bible?
