A photo of former President Barack Obama and his family serving food for victims of Hurricane Harvey went viral recently, drawing praise from thousands.

Except there is just one problem: it’s not actually the Obamas serving food for victims of Harvey.

    The photo

According to Getty Images, which distributed the picture, the photo was snapped in on Thanksgiving Day 2015. The picture actually shows the Obama family serving “Thanksgiving meals to homeless and at-risk veterans” at a shelter in Washington, D.C.

    Oops
The original tweet was posted Saturday with the caption: “Something you’ll never see trump do: Obama is in Texas serving meals!”

An unknown person on Twitter tweets something that goes viral and you have to make a big deal about it.

It's a nobody tweeting on freaking Twitter.

BTW, I agree with the poster--you'll never see Trump serving food in a soup kitchen.

If the tweet is true - then it is a big story.

    Normally, never say never!

Good. Because its nothing but a cheap photo op.

And the fact that it was viral means it was already a big deal.

He might surprise you. What other President has chased the hat of a soldier, picked it up, and brought it back to him?

Who gets to decide what goes viral? An internet immunologist? Bah. Inconsequential things keep filling up our consciousness so that we're no longer able to differentiate between things that are fluff and things that matter. Everything, on social media, is A HOOGE DEAL.

Gee. Last time you and I went at it you came back complaining how you didn't get any sleep. I'm nervous that I might do it to you again.

If you don't know what "going viral" means, perhaps you shouldn't comment on it ?

Fine. I have no idea why I even bother to answer your posts since you obviously have no answers. Someone asserts a post "went viral." How do you determine the validity of that statement? That's probably too tough a question, so I guess I'll go to sleep so won't have to worry your little head about it.

Oh I'm not worried at all. I'm fine with your ignorance. If I thought you were asking the question in good faith I may answer it. But your original statement about it tells me you don't want to learn, you want to put down and belittle.

"Viral" is a somewhat subjective term. Anyone can claim something "went viral". It simply means it suddenly appeared all over the Internet.

Currently, though, something is considered to have gone viral if it get ~5 million hits in a week.

I think Snopes must be actively trying to appear liberal.

Instead of saying the tweet was "false," they labeled it "mis-captioned."

It is so obvious what Trump is doing - he is forcefully taking a Red Cross package from a black person!

I noticed a lull in the hate tsunami by the komrades because of Harvey and I chalked it up to decency but now I wonder - was it because President Trump showed that he was the exact opposite of all their accusations which left them speechless.

    ATTACK THE HIGH HEELS!!
