I'm particularly disappointed that all he got out of the IRS was an "apology". Someone should have gone to jail. That's a massive failure on Sessions part.

Rudy Guliani? Or however you spell his last name. I think he'd go after HilLIARly in a, pardon the pun, New York minute.

We could speculate all day on his motives, but, bottom line, he's incompetent. Needs to resign. Rosenstein is in charge of everything anyway. Might as well get the ball rolling for a new AG.

Well you had his resignation in hand. The job is not a horse and pony show like Obama's hires used it. The honorable Sessions is a class act and everyone knows it, even his enemies. That is the problem when you work for someone less than flawless. Just the other day two more of Trump's administration went down with concluding with Russia. Sessions may be the last honest person working under Trump. Incompetent, my butt, nobody could of kept the records Sessions did on Obama and illegal amnesty and be considered such. The man is brilliant and if given a free hand, he would have this nation's immigration problem sewed up in a tidy bag.

Plus there is a problem, Sessions is beloved in Bama, and rightfully so. His only flaw was jumping on the Trump train (and being first) and probable because he wanted that position (and badly). Sessions knows the importance of doing his job and doing it rightly. He does not take shortcuts, and leaves no room for later second guessing. He knows being a conservative that he is not being given the leadway previous AGs had. Not a job that just anyone could fill and those political savvy know it.

You don't pay attention do you. He does not want the job. Matter of fact, nobody of any substance wants the job. Even NJ Chris Christie doesn't want the job. Not many people could work for such a boss and keep their sanity.

And here we are. Sessions is being judged on how loyal he is to Trump.

My real disagreement with Sessions is that he thinks the U.S. doesn't put enough people in prison for long enough. The U.S. incarcerates more people than most other nations in a drug war that has lasted for 40 years with no end in sight and cannot consider that the entire strategy may be wrong-headed and counterproductive.

In that, he is totally in line with Trump, who would like to see police rough up prisoners because, well, the Constitution is a hindrance to keeping us safe.

    Pitiful mischaracterization. Dripping with venom.

    Get a grip, Sir.

I have a grip. Maybe you should get one. It's out there for anyone to see.

Trump tells police not to worry about injuring suspects during arrests

"During a speech on Long Island on Friday, President Trump took a break from discussing gang violence and illegal immigration to give the law enforcement officers gathered for his remarks some advice on how to treat suspects.

“When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over?” Trump said, miming the physical motion of an officer shielding a suspect’s head to keep it from bumping against the squad car.

“Like, don’t hit their head, and they just killed somebody — don’t hit their head,” Trump continued. “I said, you can take the hand away, okay?”

    ...
In response to a question regarding Trump’s comments and the officers who applauded, the Suffolk County police quickly distanced the department from Trump’s comments, saying Friday that they would not accept this treatment of people in custody.

“The Suffolk County Police Department has strict rules and procedures relating to the handling of prisoners, and violations of those rules and procedures are treated extremely seriously,” the department said in an emailed statement. “As a department, we do not and will not tolerate ‘rough[ing]’ up prisoners.”

Trump’s remarks were criticized by law enforcement officials including the Houston police chief and agencies including the Gainesville, Fla., police department. His comments also drew a rebuke from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. In a statement Friday, the group did not specifically mention Trump by name but appeared to respond to his speech by stressing the importance of treating all people, including suspects, with respect.

I fail to see how I mischaracterized the president's remarks. Maybe you have more insight.

Posting a big emoji with a sign is not an argument, except perhaps among those who prefer infantile treatment of important issues. I may have been misinformed about that.

Jeff Sessions is Trump's guy. He's gleefully towed the line on immigration and throwing folks into prison. That's what matters to Sessions, no matter how badly Trump has abused him publically. Sessions thinks he's on a mission; Trump thinks he's disposable. Wonder who wins?

BTW: I cannot imagine a poster more "dripping with venom" than you. You continually spout invectives against those those you oppose with nothing other than your fervid political imagination, which has no basis in fact.

I am not a "sir." I have worked and worked hard for what little distinction I have accrued in my life. It's not much, but it's mine. But I do not pretend to to have any lofty position other than I can smell out a poser from a mile away.
