Wyoming Southern Baptist Mission Network (compromise new name, led by the pastor/church that is about the weakest in our city, is a sad change. They are a CONVENTION like the conventions of old have been, not some mystical "network".

And look at the leadership - their churches REJECT the Baptist name and go by "community" or "unified" church, like so many non-denominational churches. IF I were pastoring a Southern Baptist church, I would have "Southern Baptist" in the name. Even in town a large SBC church just changed last year from "First Southern Baptist" to just "Hilltop Baptist".

Recently the Empire State Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches ( GARBC) changed their name to Northeast Fellowship:eek:

Last year the Baptist Convention of NY, voted down the proposal to change our name to Great Commission Baptists of the Northeast,

Not sure what your "" is for, nor why you cut off the "Independent Baptist" part of the new name.

What's the beef about "Northeast" versus "New York" and "Empire State"?

Does anyone remember the commercial as the good hard working cow hands sat at the campfire with the salsa and chips, “New York City!”

Well, that isn’t far from the typical thinking of anyone not from New York City.

All things politically correct means removal of all things offensive, today a name, tomorrow the cross.
