A 1000 fold increase in just 9 years. Yep. That's an increase! :)

Im not denying the increase in technology, I just do not believe Daniel 12:4 is talking about this. Nor do many Futurist websites besides the "count down to rapture ones". T-Cass you honestly believe this?

Even the dispensational website Gotquestions.org and even John Darby himself didn't see it.

"But, as Toffler observed, there certainly has been an exponential increase of technology, and it appears to be gaining ground even more quickly. So what does the Bible have to say on this matter? Let's take a look at the text in question, Daniel 12:4, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Daniel was told that the meaning of his prophecy would be sealed until the time of its fulfillment was near. The majority of Bible scholars through the ages have understood the last two phrases to reference the prophecy itself. Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown's critical commentary (published 1871) identified the meaning as scrutinizing every page to discover God's purposes in the events foretold. John Darby translated the passage “many shall diligently investigate,” and Samuel Tregelles rendered it “many shall scrutinize the book from end to end.” Matthew Henry's Commentary (c. 1700) said, “Then this hidden treasure shall be opened, and many shall search into it, and dig for the knowledge of it, as for silver. They shall run to and fro, to enquire out copies of it, shall collate them, and see that they be true and authentic. They shall read it over and over, shall meditate upon it, and run it over in their minds.” "

    Ellicott written in the 1870's

Cambridge written in the 1960's admittedly relies upon archaic thoughts of the 1600's Francis Bacon

    JFB published in the 1870's

Gills written in the mid 1700's

Yep, these folks would certainly see an explosion of knowledge and ability of people to travel over long distances very quickly.

Amazing to recall how the story of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" by Julius Verne in the later 1800's were considered captivating fantasy. A submarine with nuclear power, divers in suits recovering from the depths, the navigational instruments.

Rather common everyday technology of this modern time.

Anyone remember the Adventures of Tom Swift from the early years of the 1900's?

Complete fantasy that has been realized in more than one invention.

For the mid-aged, the Dick Tracy watch (mid 1900's)? 2015 Apple was thinking of producing one.

It is just not the best to expect long ago and far away people to understand the Scriptures that were sealed to anyone's understanding until the end times.

    And again,

You draw from "Bible scholars through the ages."

How was a Bible scholar to discern when the meaning was shut to them?

They could only use what they could speculate it may be, but had no real reason or foundation for their thinking.

Rather, we can see Daniel actually in action.

    1) because it is the end times.
    2) though the end times may go on for lifetimes, it does not discredit that they signs of the end times are becoming remarkable fulfilled.

    *Misinterpretation alert*

TCassidy said that technology had increased in his lifetime. I merely posted a comparison of how far technology has come in just 9 years.

I said nothing about SD card technology bringing on the second coming.

Well if it was such clear prophecy that even you understand, they surely would of said, In the last days secular knowledge and human advances will increase. But none of them take a secular view on this. Interesting, they all keep it in context of the book itself.

You take your 21st century knowledge and apply it to the bible verses.

Of course I take my "20th" century knowledge and apply it to the bible verses.

Just as those you posted take the knowledge of their own century.

That I know MORE because of the evidence presented by seeing prophetic statements long considered as allegorical actually fulfilled, is not placing discredit upon my youth.

It is showing how the Scriptures can be taken in a far more literal fashion then those from long ago considered possible.

No about Daniel 12:4 being about technology.

You know sometimes, I do not want to argue with you, but actually get your opinion, because I know you are an intelligent man. Even If I don't agree with everything.

    Goodness, thanks.
Ill further my studies into sarcastic remarks.

    Nahum 2:4
The chariots storm through the streets, rushing back and forth through the squares. They look like flaming torches; they dart about like lightning.

So is this verse about automobiles? Just using your 20th century knowledge.

Do you really think that such a question is legitimate?

It isn't. Such is merely an attempt to distract from the truth of Daniel presented in the thread.

Will you accept any excuse to not take the Scriptures at face value, and recognize the error of the treacherous teaching called preterist?

    Completely legitimate.
Am I not doing the same thing you are with that verse?
Whats the face value of Nahum 2:4?

    No, you are not.

I am showing how the early commentator were under the same closed interpretation as God told Daniel the writing should be.

WHEN was the interpretation to be opened?

    In the last times.

I showed how the EVIDENCE of the openning as stated by Daniel would be in two areas.
    1) knowledge would increase - resulting in far more rapid development of "things" which knowledge is attached, and that a more clear understanding of Scriptures would also occur as a result of knowledge increasing. Both have clearly been demonstrated. What was not even considered a viable understanding of prophecy, and actually be seen as being fulfilled in this day.

    2) people traveling ability would increase. That is certainly evident and needs no clarification.
What YOU desire is to try to pick some single development and hold it up to prophetic statement as an indication that the prophetic statement is discredited.

    That is misrepresenting the Scriptures.

Do you really think the destruction of Nineveh as Nahum described in prophetic statements is applicable?

Are you so willing to misrepresent the Scriptures in some grand desire to discredit what you disapprove.

I didn't say Daniel 12:4 is about technology.

I can recommend some Baptist Board posters to study which will greatly increase your knowledge of sarcasm. Not improve, just increase. :D:D:D

I believe the knowledge in question is the knowledge of the things Daniel wrote in the book that God ordered sealed up.

As time passes, and the consummation of the age approaches, people will become more and more interested is such things and will try to determine what it was that Daniel was talking about. It is possible that much of the information in Revelation was what was sealed up in Daniel's time.
