    Good evening all -

I will make my post brief tonight. I hope that others will contribute in the gaps I leave.

All I will say about our Exodus reading tonight is, "Wow! What a great story!" Notice that the Isrealites start grumbling rightout of the gate in verse 15:24. These people will grumble for forty years as we will see.
Also on this topic, here is a theoretical map of the Exodus:http://scriptures.lds.org/biblemaps/2
I say theoretical because scholars have little more than the scriptures to go on of this account.

The other thing I want to share is about our reading in Acts. I think the account of Paul in Athens is one of the greatest witness stories in the Bible. The Athenians were thinkers, philosophers. Paul didn't storm in and say, "You buncha pagan idolators! You better listten to me or you're all gonna go burn in HELL!" Instead, he approaches them about a monument to an unknown God that they themselves had erected and uses that as the focus of his witness. He treats the people with respect and thereby gains an attentive audience and shows success at the end of his efforts.

One thing I will say about Matthew tonight. Christ refers to the Pharisees as a brood of vipers tonight just as John did in chapter 3, verse 7. I love how the scriptures echo!

    May God bless you all

    - Clint

I'm a little late, but I'll post anyway.

If anything the Exodus passage we read today proves that seeing is NOT believing.

Anyone seeking more food for thought on these scriptures can go to http://bible.crosswalk.com/Commentaries/ where they will find a myriad of Bible commentaries. One can also use a search engine such as Google and by plugging in keywords find a wide array of resources to enrich their study on the net.

"For he said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation." Exodus 17:16

Amalek means 'flesh', which tells me that we must walk in the Spirit to defeat the flesh. We will always have an ongoing battle with spirit vs. flesh.

"And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you.
But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters." Acts 18:14-15

As I read through the Bible, I see where we get a lot of our 'old sayings'. I am wondering if these two verses are where we got; "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never harm me."
