Ever thought about how inventors generally were not very well-liked in their lifetimes?

People didn't really cotton to Eli Whitney.
    John Deere had his de-tractors.
Robert Fulton often went against the winds.
Samuel Morse had to send and receive his messages in code.
Thomas Edison needed deodorant (99% perspiration).
George Eastman was always having to close his shutters.
The temperature always dropped when Willis Carrier entered the room.
King Gillette was too sharp for his own good.
But, there was also the popular George Westinghouse-- the original refrigerator magnate.

I think the Wright Brothers had the right stuff. They were on an entirely different plane than their rivals.

Criticism directed at Peter Cooper made him boil; when he finally cooled down he was stopped on his tracks.

Samuel Colt wasn't the Peacemaker he aspired to be, but he gave it his best shot.

The notion of having a conversation over many miles was an idea for dingalings until Alexander Graham Bell became the receiver of that calling. Some people still called him phony.

I saw a documentary about the race for whether we would go AC or DC for electric in this country. It had a bit to say about Edison and how he was a rotten vindictive person. He was especially bad concerning Nikolai Tesla who worked for him for awhile, and he was just as nasty to George Westinghouse.

Danny Biasone, owner of the Syracuse Nationals, avoided all this by completing his invention in just 24 seconds.
