You assume a lot. How do you know if she had previous warnings or infractions?

For who? The Church, a non-profit does not have tax write offs. The business of course wrote the refund off because you do not pay taxes on losses. I have no idea what you are asking.

    Update:

    • Church compensates the waitress
    • The church normally tips on these sorts of take out orders but this time the order was picked up by a volunteer
    • The waitress did not name her place of employment when she complained on Facebook about not getting a tip
    • The time it took in preparation of the large takeout order meant the waitress missed out on a lot of tips.

UPDATE: Local church compensates Outback server who lost job, not tipped on $735 order

This entire story is absurd. She was wrong and she did talk crap about the church online. I would fire her for that myself. The food comes boxed and only needs bagging coming from the backend. She did not spend her shift (8 Hours) as she claims making this order. She put it in bags and put it in a car.

I don't have to tip and only do so when service is excellent, or I can see the waiter working hard.

Say she offered bad service and didn't deserve a tip? Does that mean that now everyone gets to drag the Church through the mud? What if she was super rude? Made them wait to be helped? I guess that would not have even mattered, because no waited to even hear the churches side before jumping to conclusions that the church was bad.

Totally agree! An appropriate "tip" would be fine - if normally done in the past, and in line with past tips.
