I think it is fair to say that no matter what denomination you are in when you get saved, you should be growing spiritually as the years pass. If you are studying the Bible you in several things, will not agree with denominational theology. This is normal.

I think in many cases the 'health' and 'wealth' theology has gone too far. We are given wealth, if God wills that we have money, so we can further the spread of the Christian Gospel in our sinful world and not to buy a bigger house or a luxury car. This is my perspective.

    Atestring,

I also recommend the Bible as well. But pentecostals take and distort the Bible and most of them don't even know how to read it, they think EVERYTHING in the Bible is for today, and that's just simply not true. In fact, in the hands of the unlearned, the Bible can be a very deadly tool, just ask Jim Jones.

</font>[/QUOTE]Jim Jones is an extreme case.
    I will ignore that one.
Mt henry you try to make it sound like Pentecostals sign their name with an X.
since you like books maybe you should study non bias books about Pentecostals.

Me thinks you are too up tight Mathew Henry. Don't get your knickers in a wad, Jesus has it all under control!

Why don't you just relax, and go read your bible and ask the Holy Ghost to teach you about the full gospel teaching?

    Peace,

    Tam

How could "the best way for her to pray that God would open his eyes" be for her to argue scripture? Why can't she simply pray that he will read God's Word for himself and that God would open his eyes and give him understanding? Why do you think it's up to her or you or anyone else to "open his eyes" with your interpretation of scripture? Why do you limit God? Can't He still open our eyes and help us to understand His Word? I think it's fine for her to simply pray and ask God to open this guy's eyes. Does He need YOU to do it for Him? I don't think so. IF she's the one that's wrong, maybe He'll open HER eyes.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour Lord in 1982. and because a Pastor fell into sin, I left that Church and was invited to a Pentecostal Church. I fell in with that TRASH Doctrine.

I've been saved 24 years. 21 of them years. I spent in that doctrine of confusion, and it seemed every years the doctrines were getting looser and looser... Finally, I got tired of it, and began to SEEK TRUTH! and you know what? The Lord Opened my eyes... TO THE TRUTH about those doctrines...

So to your cut against me, I say, BAH! You doctrines are of the DEVIL! I've proven it many times.. I came in here and proved it with the Word of God. and the Bible is the final Authority! Period. Your Doctrines are NOT.

It's no wonder that back in the early 1900's the Baptists got togethjer and would burn down the meeting places of the Tongue-talkers... Maybe we should start back to doing that and run these False Believers out of business. might improve the country a little!

You can't rewrite history! And "pentecostalism" has a very checkered past to say the least. Not mention the lies, and false Doctrines.

My book, "pentecostalism...EXPOSED!" will be out sometime in the spring.. I can't wait.

    It also says the Following....:

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
    (2 Timothy 4:1-4 KJV)

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
    (2 Corinthians 11:13-15 KJV)
6f. The false doctrine that we should not test the Holy Spirit with the Bible

    Bible Answer:

    a. The Bible warns that there are false spirits and that the devil
tries to deceive (2 Cor. 11:4; 1 Jn. 4:1). Therefore we must test
everything carefully or we will be deceived.

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
    (2 Corinthians 11:4 KJV)

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
    (1 John 4:1 KJV)

    b. The Bible commands us to prove all things (1 Thess. 5:21).

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
    (1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV)

    c. The Bible commended the Bereans because they tested everything by
    the Scriptures (Acts 17:11)

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
    (Acts 17:11 KJV)

You need to explain Mark 9:38-40. Was the man of God who cast out the demon extreme? Jesus had no quarrel with him, but I think some today would also have problems with his ministry.

It sounds like one man on the board may have under estimated the power of the Devil and left the Lord for a relatively brief time, and is now blaming the Penecostal Christians for his misbehavior. Projecting guilt on others is hardly owning up to our own mistakes and sins.

We all should warn other Christians about the possibility of backsliding so they have a benchmark if they fail the Lord. Most Christians have failed the Lord at some sharp turn, but the good thing is we can return to the close fellowship with the Lord that we once had with Him.

The Assembly of God Church, to my thinking, is well within the boundaries of Christian doctrine and they have many good preachers who love the Lord and are open to the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Having an ugly spirit against other Christians who are trying to follow the Lord is off the scope and not helpful for their growth in Christ.

I have been a pastor/minister for mega years and I find that I have enough to just take care of keeping myself on track with the Lord. If the Lord is God and He is, He can deal with any people even if they do not measure up to our standard.

    Do I hear an amen?

    Get real Ray.

I never blamed ANYONE for my backsliding. Although, I did feel the lady that triggered it was power hungry and didn't excercise Godly judgement, but rather just saw me as someone in her way.

I bet you'd never say that sort of thing to my face.

and ANY Miracles that Christ performed here on Earth were to prove he was the Son of God. and for the unbelieving. End of Story.

I'm done with this thread... too many people with smart alleck comments... Later, back to lurking in safer parts of the board. and away from these tongue babblers...

    MatthewHenry,

Are you referring to "smart aleck" comments like these?...

    (spoken to Tamborine Lady)

Those were posted by YOU, not any of us.

    Gods peace to you

(and I mean that sincerely, you seem to need it)

    Matthew Henry,

Thanks for letting us see what your true feelings are. Now we will know how to pray for you.

And by the way, don't blame the woman for helping with your leaving the church!!

It must have been quite something to make you leave your church after all those years.

    Peace,

    Tam

    Matthew Henry,

You came back and read this, right? Don't run scared.

You said in your post, '. . . I do feel that the lady triggered it . . .'

Buck up and be a man! The woman chased you out of the church with your tail between your legs.

Church often have a church boss. Deal with it. Work with those kinds of people and after a period of time they will listen. First, you have to become a friend to them and win them by your love.

Your attack on Tammy shows the caliber of Christian you really are in your inner most being. Believe me I would confront you for such behavior, eye ball to eye ball.

I John 4:16 is your spiritual vitamin for today.

Christian love is easy to give to Tammy or do you not get along with all women?

I didn't run off from this conversation I've been busy with Church and fire dept. duties. Matt I'm sorry it seems like you had quite a go with the other church. I like a good debate but please don't call me names (or atleast until you get to know me. [IMG] ) Matt you asked me
Which christ does my church preach?

The Christ Jesus that was born of a virgin, the Christ that was crucified and died on the cross for not only my sins but whosoever will believe on Him. The Christ that gave up the ghost on the cross and was buried in a borrowed tomb, but arose agian on the 3rd day and is sitted on the right hand by the Father.

BTW, here is some of what I got for you concidering your OP. But really it is more detaied debate and some of the other threads cover some of your agenda. It is usually easier to do a little at a time.
    Here you go. [IMG]

The false teachings of the Pentecostal-Charismatic Movement
    (Assemblies of God, etc.)

6a. The false doctrine that tongues speaking is for today

    *True it is for today~

    Bible Answer:

    a. The Bible says tongues were a real language (Acts 2:3-11).

*Yes it is a real language~ 1Cor. 13:1 (men or angels)

    b. The Bible says tongues were a sign to the unbelieving Jews (1 Cor.
    14:21-22).

*Yes and the bible also says tongues are a manifestation of the Spirit and is given to every man to profit withal. (1Cor. 12:7)

After Israel rejected God's sign of tongues and Jerusalem
was destroyed in 70 A.D. and the Jews were scattered to the ends of
the earth, the need for tongues as a sign was finished.

*Tell me the verse again that states the need for tongues as a sign was finished?

    c. Biblical tongues had to be used according to the teaching of the
apostles, yet the Pentecostals and Charismatics do not submit to
    these restrictions:

    (1) Women are not allowed to speak in tongues (1 Cor. 14:34)

    * You need to look at bible history on this point. This has been debated and as soon as I see an OT scripture stating this is a law and commandment that women should be silent in church.
    (2) Tongues were to be spoken only by course (1 Cor. 14:27)
    *No problem… I agree
    (3) Tongues must be interpreted (1 Cor. 14:27)
    *I agree
    (4) There is to be no confusion (1 Cor. 14:33)
    *That’s right
    (5) Everything is to be decent (1 Cor. 14:40)
    *I agree
    (6) Everything is to be orderly (1 Cor. 14:40)
    *I agree

    d. Tongues were not spoken by every believer even in the days of the
    apostles (1 Cor. 12:28-30).

*That’s true and I have no problem with that. Everyone has a place in the body of Christ and each are important.

    e. Biblical tongues were not sought after but were sovereignly given
    by God (1 Cor. 12:11).

*No problem with that scripture….1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

    f. There is no instruction in the Bible about HOW to speak in
tongues. Those who believe in tongues speaking today claim that they
can teach people who to do it.

*I don’t believe that way. I know it is given by God and it’s a gift and not taught but received.
    g. The Bible says tongues speaking, prophesying, and words of knowing
will pass away (1 Cor. 13:8). When the New Testament was completed,
there was no further need for these particular gifts.

*This has also been debated and again the argument is on a pivotal scripture read on down to the part “that which is perfect”. What is perfect or to say complete? Some say there is no way it was Jesus that perfect had to be the written word (ie Bible). But as one of our BB members said he thought it could be love. Still who is Love and who shall we behold face to face...theres nothing that says book to face.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Music4him I just copyed the same thing haha funny how God works sometimes aint it.

I am currently Reading the book of Acts word for word and I must say the evidence against the pentacost is overwelming. Its funny how you can read something and really pay it no mind until someone or some group goes the opposite way, against the grain of the word of God.

Again, I say... Get real Ray

That happened WAAAY back in 1993. I had backslidden, and already came back to the Lord. The falling out between me and the woman, happened in a totally different Church. I left pentecostalism in 2004. I had been in 4 different Churches.

Your attempt to try and hang me, is stupid.

BTW... The Bible says WOMEN Leaders of ANY sort is wrong.

    Argue with that. :D

Which is ANOTHER reason I left that false belief system, they ignore God's Word.

Again, I say... Get real

Also I would like to add, that lady, who booted me, ended up commiting adultary on her husband of 10 years, ended up losing her *many* positions in that Church, Her family, and nice house. and now lives in a very small upper flat in Chicago. with the man she ended up marrying, of whom she was cheating with. so much for integrity in the Assemblies of god.

Another one for ya, this same Church ALL of the Ladies in the sunday school dept. have had children out of wedlock... and their supposedly serving the Lord. (which Lord, I say...) so much for family values..

I said it before and this time, I mean it. I'm done with this... this has turned into something I never intended it to... and I do NOT like getting into debates with people, because most of the time, it gets personal, I apologize to Tamberine Lady. I tend to get emotional about my time in the A/G... and my departure was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I posted the Scriptures, just to see what would happen. and it did. people got personal with me. and likewise, I attacked back. I don't like doing that. so. I'm done, I'll be praying for you tougue babblers, that God would open your eyes to the false doctrines, like he did me.. I asked them to close the thread, I guess they got hearing problems or are just plain stupid. I dunno... So, I'm outta here. Going back to safe parts of the board. Good bye, God Bless!

Not that it matters Mathew, but I too left the AOG, a long time ago.

Some of their teachings are off. I also do not like the label pentacostal simply be cause people think of certain denoms when they hear the word.

I prefer Full Gospel. But it doesn't matter. I'm sorry you are so bitter, but maybe someday you will get over it.

My suggestion is, if you don't like the tongue talkers, then shake the dust off your feet and move on!! Stop looking back!!

    Selah,

    Tam
