Calvinism....you are guilty till you admit you are guilty.

Everyone is a dirty rag. And God can do all things right except make you behave right.

Calvinism says "He could make you behave right -- if He cared to"

Because that is what Paul did??

My point was that - Paul had a lot of "gifts" but did not wake up each morning crying out for 'God to deliver me from the clutches of Satan, the Evil Deceiver' who in TC's POV would have gifted him, since apparently that is what the devil does in the Calvinist framework.

The problem is my friend that you yourself know that none of these so called gifts are always accurate, and one used to "write theology/speak for the Lord" must be 100 % true!
The Holy spirit does not do all of those things that you listed here, as NONE of what you are experiencing glorify jesus, and the job of Him is to glorify Christ, and to make real theology known!
We have already the entire revelation of God in the Bible, what else can you do to add to that?

Nope again, more like God provides the weays and means for His own people to be saved, received the Holy Spirit, and have the means to "live right"

First, I would have breakfast. Then take a shower and brush my teeth. I might shave, but I might not. . .

I have prayed that Yeshua1, at the insistence of John of Japan, who I trust as a true servant of Jesus.

The result is that I have turned on the so called "Baptism of the Holy Spirit." The way it is taught is completely unbiblical and my own "baptism of the holy spirit" was taken away today when I renounced praying for it. Genuine gifts would not disappear if forsaken. I denounced my miracle of "ruach" as well. It is unbiblical to have a prayer or statement given a gust of breath to signify it as important. I also feel a conviction to not try to manipulate the weather anymore.

The problem is that my gift of prophecy has remained.

I myself believe that all the gifts but apostle are for today. I have been reading John MacArthur to help sharpen my views by defending them or changing them. His attack on modern day apostles is spectacular and convinced me to turn on modern day "apostles."

I have to be honest completely though, I have had dreams about the future that always come true ever since becoming a Christian. I even had some of these dreams while an atheist and they convicted me that God, the God of the Christians, was real. These dreams continue today and have small messages that convict me of sins I didn't necessarily realize were there. I thought these dreams were of the devil before as a classical cessationist, but now I view them as from God.

    -EDIT-

I am being much more careful with any miraculous gifting and will read up on it from classical cessationists before claiming to have the ability to supernaturally convict or bestow a supernatural feeling.

Wow, I have prayed for the "gift of miracles" to go away if it is not of God, and it to has left. I no longer have the ability to confer feelings of conviction or unexplained sensation.

I am now almost back to classical cessationism and the view that the Charismatic movement was entirely a Satanic ploy to trick people with counterfeit signs and wonders, which would mark it, according to 2 Thessalonians 2, as in cahoots with the secret power of lawlessness and possibly of the Man of Lawlessness himself in time. I still don't believe this though, and I will must now go do even more research on two topics:

    1. Prophecy
    2. IHOPKC

I do know that I was allowed to be deceived as a Christian due to my refusal, in my case, to love hard truths of the Gospel (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

While indeed, that which passes as standard miracles, etc and 'gifts' among the pentecostals, charismatics, and etc, is indeed a deceiving 'false fire' [Revelation 13:13 KJB], a counterfeit pentecost and counterfeit latter rain, do not think that the true does not exist today in the world [latter rain is not yet here, but the season is soon], otherwise why would satan need to counterfeit these things so much [Revelation 16:13 KJB], and why would Jesus warn about false [Matthew 24:4, 24-26; Mark 13:5,22; Luke 21:8, and Paul, Acts 20:29,30, etc], if He was not fulfilling His promise to send the true [Matthew 23:34; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 4; 1 Timothy 4:14; James 1:17; 1 Peter 4:10 KJB, etc]? Remember, satan always sends the false ahead of the true, trying to trap as many as possible. Think of the many false messiahs satan sent before [and even after] the true Messiah. see people like Theudas, Judas of Galilee, Barabas, the Egyptian, and the zealots [attempting by force to overthrow the Romans and fulfill prophecy], king Herod [the voice of a god and not a man; Acts 12:22 KJB], even the highpriests in their hearts [Annas and Caiaphas, they literally thought that they were saving the nation by putting Jesus to death, and later the disciples] etc [see Acts 5:36,37, 21:38 KJB], for satan was attempting to head off the prophecy in Daniel 11:14 KJB, "... the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.", for satan is a student of prophecy, that he might try to thwart God's perfect plan [all those that arose up claimed to be "somebody"; see also Daniel 8:23; Psalms 17:4; Isaiah 35:9; Jeremiah 7:11; Matthew 21:13; Mark 11:17; Luke 19:46; Isaiah 1:23; John 10:1,8,10, 18:40; Hosea 7:1; Ezekiel 7:33, 18:10; Hosea 4:2; Acts 21:38; Isaiah 1:2; Acts 4:36,37 KJB].

I have given up IHOPKC and a huge oppressive force has left my life. That force has existed in my life since 2012 when I originally joined the IHOPKC movement and was part of it until the BB convinced me to be a classical cessationist. All of my supernatural seeming gifts are now gone except for "prophecy."

I must be candid though, I have received accurate predictions of the future in dreams or from a voice. These dreams or voice always predict perfectly, and for me to have any accurate predictions at all is to be in a non-cessationist world. The problem has been my James Goll style prophecies that use my senses. Those are wildly inaccurate many times it seems. The truth is these displays of power by the Holy Spirit are very rare and scared me so much I ran.

That said, I do not believe prophecy is something you practice at, it is God gives you something or doesn't. I have traditionally rarely prophesied anything though. I would never in my mind think of this as Charismatic or Pentecostal, it is more in line with someone like Perpetua and the many stories of church history where a person in affliction is given a spectacular gift. Something that to me makes sense since I have lived in agonizing misery for ten years now due to seizures, migraines, paranoid schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic attacks, and much more.

I think the devil tricked me all along. I have one question of my dreams of the future and predictions. Why are they so private? Isn't prophecy for the Church? I also understand that there are many people who have suffered far more than I, who were more faithful Christians and never got an ounce of prophecy. Not to mention it is prideful to think we earn spiritual gifts.

I am reminded of William Branham's story of divine encounters. They all seem unbiblical and the nature of his revelatory encounters tells me there was something going wrong, that they were counterfeit. I have confronted the spirit giving me these predictions and told them that if they will not give me anything to actually lead people to Jesus then go! They seem to have gone. I was addicted to charismatic gifts, I can feel it now that they are gone.

    Thank you for your prayers.

Yes 1 Cor 14 says tongues are for a "sign" to unbelievers and prophecy a "sign" for believers. It makes no sense to "hide prophecy from believers".

Here is the question I would be asking if I were you - "How can it be that all those other gifts were in fact fake - but this supposedly real gift of prophecy did not include God informing me about those other fakes in my life so as to spare me the ordeal"?

God's Word is "light" it dispels darkness. If fake gifts are being promoted by your ministry - and misleading your hearers as well as you-- is God so little concerned with that damage that his direct supernatural communication to you - does not include some "Disabusing"???

I am inclined to agree with you on that one.

Exactly. In 1 Cor 14 Paul says you have no control at all over prophecy - other than to pray for the gift. That is it.

I would like to be able to do Irish line dancing on the water as a special gift. In addition to the ability to walk on water, God would also have to grant me a special gift of rhythm to overcome my two left feet.

Well, as long as we can ask for anything ... I don’t think it is an unbiblical request. Just not essential for the well being of the local body of Christ.

    This is what Paul did:

    Galatians 1:15-18
    King James Version (KJV)

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

He did not immediately confer with flesh and blood.

    God bless.
