Archie Bunker was a character purposefully cast to make conservatives appear ignorant. That dialogue was hollywood, decades ago, demeaning conservative views.

The number in the op is wrong, It includes non student related shootings and even kids shooting at school buses with BB guns.

But he was ahead of his time in this episode. His son -n-law, the Meathead, claimed the 2nd Amendment did not protect the individual's right to own guns. That right has now been officially declared to be the case by the Supreme Court.

And a funny thing happened, everyone loved old Archie. Him and my Dad were basically the same - they both knew it all, were WW2 veterans and working men, each had their own chair which no one else was allowed to sit on and both wore the same style pants. Whenever I see the show on reruns I see my father.

Archie was not wrong. He was intentionally made by Hollywood to appear an idiot.

If Archie had been a Texas cotton farmer, he and my dad would have been virtually identical... except for one thing-- my dad was a lifelong Democrat, and even in his latter years in the 80's it was still South/Democrats and North/Republicans to him. But in '84, watching campaign news on television, he did admit, "Reagan-- well, I reckon he is the better man..." but then went back to talking about Reconstruction and the carpetbaggers, including bragging how his great grandfather might have been involved in lynching a few.

The "25 times higher" number comes from a study done by the American Journal of Medicine, and as is typical, it is frequently misquoted by journalists and the lay public.

    Link to the abstract: https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(15)01030-X/fulltext#sec4

It may be more accurate to quote them as saying that an American is 25 times more likely to be murdered by a gun than a native of any of the 22 next wealthiest countries. A bit of a "statistical illusion", but their methods and math have been peer-reviewed and deemed correct.

Here's a quote straight from the abstract, "Yet, among everyone in these high-income countries, 82% of all firearm deaths occurred in the United States"

[EDIT: I misquoted the study myself on the first go-round]

Same as my Dad, also a lifelong Democrat. He also went for the better man, Mr. Reagan.

Gun control will not work, as criminals will still get them, and will really have a easier time knowing no self defense option to worry about!
Chicago has very strict laws, also highest per capita murder arte now!

That violence is caused by us kicking God out of the public square, adopting abortion, same sex as ok, by rejecting His ways, having violent cartoons and movies, not due to having too many guns available!

We have had guns readily available for close to 300 years. Guns are harder to get now than at any point in our history. Logically, guns are not the problem. Guns remained a constant. What changed? Morality changed. Godlessness replaced 10 Commandments on the wall, morning prayer, and Bible reading in our schools. A Godless man determines his own morality.

Has a Gun by itself killed any of those people in churches and schools?

I didn't choose him as an example. I made exactly the same point you are.

So if I say “No child will ever die of cancer again.” will that prove that I care about the lives of children more than all of the people who don’t make promises they are incapable of keeping?

Just as a point of interest, the largest mass murder of school children in US history used explosives and was done by a man who lost the election for Township Clerk and wanted to punish the community. (Bath School Disaster) Eliminating guns will not eliminate either mental illness or violence. Better control of access, weapon detection and follow up on reported threats will do more to reduce mass killings at schools.

If the attacker in Texas had no gun, he would have just put more effort into making sure his bombs worked.

The point I made is the media has demeaned gun owners for decades. Your point is?
