I've got a 6 month trial subscription to Sirius XM Satellite Radio. I've discovered the Billy Graham Channel, channel number 145. What a blessing it is. Recordings of his sermons through the decades. Man, that guy could preach! He usually takes a topic, teaches a bit on it, and then steers the message into an evangelistic call to action.

Part of the enjoyment for me is I just love listening to his voice. He's got such a powerful voice and so easy to listen to.

Another thing I like to do is try to guess the general time era that he's preaching in. They tell you after the message the date and the place of the sermon. I'm getting pretty good at guessing the year or general time period. You can tell the earlier sermons as he's a bit more forceful in his preaching. The latest sermon I've heard on this station (so far) has been 1983. The earliest was 1953. They are broadcasting a lot of sermons from the 1970's, which is fine by me because I was saved in 1971.

My next task will be to try and figure out when he started preaching from a different translation other than the KJV. So far, I've only heard him read and teach from the KJV. Did he ever go to a newer translation?

His messages aren't too theologically deep but they do present interesting topics. He has a way to make them relateable to most people.

If you've got Sirius Radio, give channel 145 a try.

Thanks. I'll be listening. Yes, Graham had a very simple message with absolutely NO STRINGS attached when it comes to the Gospel of Salvation. As he was not 'a pastor' he wasn't able to engage in deep theological messages. Just wasn't enough time.

In that article I read about him, in TIme Magazine, he briefly discussed the "why" of his messages but I'm sure if I posted his thoughts some would disagree. Bottom line is however the Lord used him worldwide and brought a lot of folks to Christ.

His biggest revival was in South Korea where over 1.5 MILLION people were in the audience. The picture of that effort is humbling.

Even if you don't have Sirius XM radio you can listen to Billy Graham's sermons at the sermon archive at:

    Billy Graham Audio Archives

A good way to search for sermons is by year and keywords. Adjust the "years" slider to a particular time span and then type in a few keywords, i.e. "demons" or "sex" or "Jonah" or "salvation", etc.

You can also search by country.
