And why would he withdraw his spirit if he has given it to you in the first place. Are you suggesting that God is capricious?

    2 Corinthians 7:1-3
1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.
3 I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.

Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus

2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

If you go and read this whole chapter (Peter's Ladder) you will see that there are steps towards becoming what God wishes for you to become. And it says that if we don't realise that we need to take these steps then we are blind. God wants us to have His divine nature, to be like Him. When He says to be ye perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect, He really means it.

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And if you will notice, it says we do this by beliving in the Bible promises. This is GENUINE 'beliving in Christ'. Doesn't the Bible say 'I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me?' If you say no you cannot, then you are calling God a Liar.

Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

If we don't oey God, the fault is in ourselves, and not with God.

However, with all that being said, the Bible also tells us:

    Philippians 3:12
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Perfection of character is a process that we go through.

    The Bible also says,

    1 John 2
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ...

But if you think that God is commanding you to perform an impossibility, then you are already defeated from the start because you are suffering from UNBELIEF.

And that's where the Sabbath comes in. The 7th Day Sabbath is biblically the SIGN that notonly do you believe in the true God, the CREATOR of Heaven and Earth, but also that you believe that he is the one who sanctifies you and makes you holy. He only can create in you a new heart; that was what David prayed for in te Psalms, for God to create in Him a clean heart and a right spirit. You cannot do it yourself. But you must cooperate.

Why would David have even prayed asking God for a clean heart and a right spirit, if it were an impossibility to have it?

    Hebrews 4:
4 And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

We must progress BY FAITH. It is a GIFT.

It is all pretty simple, but people like to make it complicated. Evidentally, these people possessed such faith...

Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Obviously, because we once walked with God and then we have chosen to rebel against Him. We do have a choice, you know? We are not robots, and God loves us, not forces us.

Jesus said that God had sent numerous prophets to Jerusalem to call them back to obedience, but rather than listen, they continue to stone the prophets that are sent. Jesus said that God has wanted to gather them under His wing for protection, but they were not willing!

As a result, death and destruction will come upon Jerusalem.

    Romans 11:22
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

'GOODNESS' is said to be one of the fruits of the Spirit. And we can only possess it if we have His Spirit given to us. Therefore, it can be withdrawn as it says in the book of Romans 11:22.

We can be cut off just as the Jews were, and we can be destroyed, just as some of them were.

Under the new Covenant, we are now sealed forever by the Holy Spirit, and Jesus is interceding always as our High priest, so how can we lose the Spirit?

True He won't leave us, but we have the choice to leave Him. And if we do, He honors our request.

God does not force us to stay with Him.

Again, this idea is all over the Bible.

Why do you think Jesus is portrayed in Revelation as 'knocking on the door' for entrance? and do you imagine that once we decide to allow Him in, that He refuses to leave, even if we later decide we want to go the other way?

Why do you think that Revelation Chapter 3 says that He spews some OUT? Have you ever considered that this means some were at one time IN His mouth?

And why do you think the Book of Revelation says that some will be REMOVED from the Book of Life if they fail to be overcomers? Obviously one can be put IN to the Book of Life and then taken OUT from it as well.

    Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Yes, of course you can lose your salvation.

    Hebrews 6:4-8
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

    Hebrews 10:26-31
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

At any rate, I am done talking about this, because I can already see that it is a futile exercise. It will not matter how many Bible verses or passages that I show to you.

Keep it then... even to suggest turning it into a “sanctuary city” is insane.

I don't get it. It's the deep south, and it's far away from any borders or ocean crossings. It's like declaring Kansas City a sanctuary city, it will just attract undocumented immigrants.

Poultry industry is huge in Georgia. We have a huge amount of illegals in Georgia. Atlanta? Not so much. Mayor is doing it to try to take the news cycle away from her problems with the financial auditors.
